Hi all
I sometimes ponder over the meaning of posters' usernames and thought it might be an interesting topic for a thread.
My own "maydonoz" is the Turkish word for parsley, to reflect my many years living in Turkey, previously and also enjoy cooking so use many herbs, including parsley.
Some of you may wish to share your username meaning too.

I was thrilled when daughter told me she was pregnant with my first grandchild then she was told it was twins . Therefore the news was TwiceasNice. My beautiful granddaughters are now 11.

I live in Sydney Australia, originally from Glasgow.

I still have a very strong Scottish accent, which gets commented on very often?!

So I'm a scot living in Oz [Australia]

Mine stems from living some years in Turkey. I became friendly with a Turkish woman who lived close by. She wanted to give me the name Ayse (Aisha) whilst I gave her the English. name Elizabeth. It was a friend thing.

I was Lynnipinny that was too obvious so I changed to Redhead56 because I had red hair and was born in 1956.

To, not today!

Flossieturner Tue 20-Oct-20 10:27:04

My name should be ‘my friend flossie turner who is 86’. My mum always gave names to people “fred with the yellow Dustbin” for example. We never knew any of the people. She would never say just ‘Dolly’ it always had the same long handle. She said it for years and I don’t remember that she got older.

Now when anyone starts a sentence with ‘my fiend’ there is a chorus of voices adding the handle.

poshpaws Tue 20-Oct-20 10:42:34

My beloved late husband originally came from the West of Scotland, while I was brought up in Edinburgh - there's a friendly rivalry between East & West, where the West eg would say if you turned up at their door at 5pm " Come in and have yer dinner!" whilst the East was snotty and said " Come in - you'll have had your dinner?" Also we ran an animal rescue for 30 years, so his nickname for me was poshpaws as in posh and paws.

Moggycuddler Tue 20-Oct-20 10:43:37

Luckylegs - my nickname at school was Sparrowlegs due to being skinny and having stick like legs. I've put on some weight over the years but I'm still pretty skinny at 64. As for user names, well, mine speaks for itself! I love cats and have several.
