Hi all
I sometimes ponder over the meaning of posters' usernames and thought it might be an interesting topic for a thread.
My own "maydonoz" is the Turkish word for parsley, to reflect my many years living in Turkey, previously and also enjoy cooking so use many herbs, including parsley.
Some of you may wish to share your username meaning too.

Because I am blessed enough to live on the edge of one of the most beautiful forests in the UK. It is also the name of one of the plants in my garden.

harrigran Tue 20-Oct-20 12:21:35

I used to be a harridan and then I became a grandmother so I morphed into harrigran.

Mix of family names.

lizzypopbottle Tue 20-Oct-20 12:25:45

When I was about three years old our next door neighbour greeted me over the garden wall with, "Hello Lizzy Pop Bottle!" I took umbrage, apparently, and declared, "My name's Elizabeth!" (My parents always insisted that the name they gave me was the name everyone must use and I knew it!) So the story was often repeated and the name was handy for this kind of thing. I've never been told that someone else already has that user name.

Petalpop Tue 20-Oct-20 12:41:54

Always have a house full of dogs and cats so just merged together one cat name and part of one of the dogs names. No special reason just used the first names that came into my head. Both the animals are long gone but not forgotten.

firdaus19 Tue 20-Oct-20 12:42:10

Firdaus is the Arabic word for paradise, or garden of paradise. At one time in the Middle East we lived in a place I enjoyed called Firdaus.
19 is not my age by the way (lol) but the last two digits of the year when I joined gransnet.

Nancat Tue 20-Oct-20 12:47:37

Years ago I was Momcat, raising orphaned kittens. Now I'm older Nancat seems more appropriate.

Stella14 Tue 20-Oct-20 12:49:20

It’s a tribute to my favourite, beautiful Standard Poodle. I lost her in 2014 and still think of her daily!

Daddima Tue 20-Oct-20 12:56:28

My Indian sister in law called me Daddima, as in grandmother on the father’s side. Apparently Nanima is the grandmother on themother’s side.

lefthanded Tue 20-Oct-20 13:02:21

No prize for guessing mine.......

icanhandthemback Tue 20-Oct-20 13:03:19

Mine is purely a play on that saying about the beauty of grandchildren is that you can hand them back. I love my grandchildren to bits but I do find them exhausting!

Scotwap Tue 20-Oct-20 13:07:31

I am Scottish and my husband was Italian

Nanacool Tue 20-Oct-20 13:08:12
