Hi all,
I am wearing the attached dress on Christmas day, with ankle boots, 100 denier black tights, a decorative belt and a shoulder bag. I hadn't thought about a jacket but I now wonder if I should have a jacket or wrap or something. What do you think?
Best wishes,
FH x

These boots. X

Bluesky I do have nice legs, but they won't be on show as I'm wearing 100 denier black tights. It is quite short. X

Hetty58 Deadly serious, why? X

Obviously not all grans shop at Damart and The Edinburgh Wool Shop?

Callistemon Thu 22-Oct-20 20:34:43

Well those boots look sturdy enough, you shouldn't be falling over in those.

Really?

There was a nice site for granny clothes recommended on another thread. I must take a look

I think you could tie those two strings hanging from the bottom of the dress to your boots. It would save any cold draught going into the wrong place.

Lovely dress Flying but I’d need two...

If I remember correctly, FlyingHandbags has said that she isn't a GP.

Am I odd, that when choosing clothes to wear for whatever occasion, my thoughts are whether it will be cool enough and not make me all hot and bothered! I couldn't wear a vest/jumper/big cardigan EVER! I'm wafting myself just thinking about it! I am post menopause so maybe I'm just warm blooded! (currently sitting in a t shirt and shorts with no heating on and feeling quite warm!) FH - I would be good with those long sleeves but if you feel you need another layer I would probably wear a little black tailored jacket/blazer or possibly my biker jacket! How about black leggings rather than tights if the dress is a bit on the short side? I admire your forward planning skills! I was feeling smug earlier as I bought some Christmas cards from Next!

FlyingHxndbag Thu 22-Oct-20 21:00:48

It's not so much about another layer - though I do get cold - as about if it would look better with or without something. X

Lisagran Thu 22-Oct-20 21:07:03

Perhaps you could put it on and take photos, with and without your jacket, then we could advise?

BlueSky Thu 22-Oct-20 21:18:26

Wow FH even with thick black tights your legs must be long and slim to be shown off with such a short dress, then as you said you are younger than most of us on here.

FlyingHxndbag Thu 22-Oct-20 21:34:23

They are long (I'm about 5'9) and reasonably slim (I'm a size 8-10). X

Callistemon

Perhaps not this one

That was such a stunning dress.

Wow FH! Wow !shock

What do you mean Bluesky x

LauraNorder Thu 22-Oct-20 21:53:53

Never forget your underwear, just in case. Perhaps a nice red silk and lace thong, maybe a temporary tattoo of a butterfly on each butt cheek. You could add some red silk and lace gloves so that when you bend over there's a hint of matching garments.

Marydoll Thu 22-Oct-20 21:55:49

FH how will you avoid your bra straps showing? The neck looks very wide. I hate straps showing, it spoils the whole look.?

NanaandGrampy Thu 22-Oct-20 21:56:03

I’m sorry , and I’m sure you like that dress but unless you’re in your 20’s it’s totally inappropriate - opaque tights or not .

FH I mean wow! Wish I had long slim legs!

Lucca Thu 22-Oct-20 21:58:17

Apparently it’s going to rain tomorrow

LauraNorder Thu 22-Oct-20 21:59:34

Is it Lucca, shame, I wanted to do some gardening.

NotAGran55 Thu 22-Oct-20 22:00:30

With your height it will be a pelmet not a dress ?! Is it appropriate for a family Christmas Day gathering?

FlyingHxndbag Thu 22-Oct-20 22:02:15

LauraNorder, I don't wear thongs, you seem to have me confused with a lady of the night. X

Nanaandgrampy, what's inappropriate about it? Because it's not a floral midi dress? X

BlueSky, awww thanks... I'm sure your beautiful as you are. X
