Hi all,
I am wearing the attached dress on Christmas day, with ankle boots, 100 denier black tights, a decorative belt and a shoulder bag. I hadn't thought about a jacket but I now wonder if I should have a jacket or wrap or something. What do you think?
Best wishes,
FH x

Is it Lucca, shame, I wanted to do some gardening.

I thought I’d stay In and tidy my vest drawer.

Does anyone else feel baffled as to why we keep being asked for fashion advice from someone the same age or younger than our own Daughters? Surely one's peers should be the go-to people as to what is or isn't current - or appropriate. Laura I definitely think we need to go straight to the Argy with those ideas grin.

NotAGran55 I only wear very short dresses for things like this or very long dresses, if I'm going somewhere very special. X

EllanVannin Thu 22-Oct-20 22:06:57

My vests are longer than that dress grin

Well if it's raining I might do that too, it's been a while.

How wonderful Ellan, they must be lovely and warm! You can’t beat a good vest.

GagaJo Thu 22-Oct-20 22:08:44

I tuck my vests into my thermals

BlueBelle Thu 22-Oct-20 22:09:19

Going to bed, feeling a little bilious ?

avitorl Thu 22-Oct-20 22:09:29

As it's for Christmas I would suggest something brighter.Perhaps red with a fur trim around the hem and green thigh high boots would be appropriate?
I would save the little black dress for a funeral occasion but perhaps that's just me?

Lucca Thu 22-Oct-20 22:10:30

Oh no ... don’t like to be too warm in my undercarriage.

EllanVannin Thu 22-Oct-20 22:10:39

I can't be without them in the winter Lucca. Which is why I can't wear a low-cut dress because it would show my vest.

Hetty58 Thu 22-Oct-20 22:11:23

Lisagran, I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for a picture. I'm sure we're in somebody's fantasy land here!

LauraNorder Thu 22-Oct-20 22:12:35

Night night BlueBelle I'm off to bed too, goodnight all

GagaJo Thu 22-Oct-20 22:14:03

I had a pair of fur lined leggings last winter. Daughter knocked them.

Lucca Thu 22-Oct-20 22:14:14

And me.

Grandmafrench
I think your getting confused with posters who post with genuine enquiries for help/advice with those who just crave attention.

alassinsane Thu 22-Oct-20 22:20:59

I think you need a nice warm zip up fleece with a picture of a cuddly wolf howling at the moon on it.

BlueSky Thu 22-Oct-20 22:23:27

But why FH’s threads are so popular? Obviously people want some lighthearted topic!

dragonfly46 Thu 22-Oct-20 22:27:30

Gosh didn’t realise you had to be a child to wear a vest - better throw all mine away!

rafichagran Thu 22-Oct-20 22:30:43

I have just enlarged your photograph of what you call a dress. That is not a dress to me or is a short tunic.
If you are 5ft 9 ins that is only just about going to cover your bum. It will look wrong when you walk, and could make you look awkward.
If this is not a wind up maybe you should just enjoy the day and not have to worry about keep pulling that dress/ tunic down.
I wear dresses that some people find unusual, but I make sure that I dont have to keep pulling them down.

Perhaps not this one

That was such a stunning dress.

It was, yes, but I don't think Diana had her long sleeved thermal underwear on underneath.

FlyingHxndbag Thu 22-Oct-20 22:33:35

I wouldn't pull it down, I would wear it with confidence. It's not as short as you think as I've seen people my height wearing it. X

FlyingHxndbag Thu 22-Oct-20 22:34:30

Marydoll, I'll just pull the straps down so the sleeves cover them. X

Callistemon Thu 22-Oct-20 22:37:58

Sorry to be controversial but those boots are all wrong to wear with that dress. Too clumpy.
Hope you haven't bought them already.
What about black patent thigh boots?

FlyingHxndbag Thu 22-Oct-20 22:43:49

I can't stand thigh high boots... they make me look like a lady of the night. X
