My husband, Orlin talks about thingies, whatsits, wadyacallits. My life is spent deciphering his meaning.

My DH is very helpful (not). When I was agonising about what to wear for a special event his suggestion was, 'Just get a nice outfit.' If only I'd thought of that!! ?

My DH was also a great cutter down and pruner. His greatest moment was when he pruned the very beautiful Queen Elizabeth rose we had. He cut t back so far that he went down to the original wild rose it had been grafted on to! I now have this scrawny plant with scrappy little white flowers that appear vey briefly every spring.

@V3ra, sounds like my FiL! We had to hide the garden shears etc. whenever he visited - his idea of gardening was cutting things down or pulling them up.
He once raked the back lawn so viciously, we had to get it re turfed the following spring - just as well it’s only a little one.

Oh dear pheonix that sounds like a conversation I'd have with Mr. S. only I'd be the one referring to "that green thing with leaves"blush.

My husband's idea of gardening is to get the chainsaw and shredder out. He doesn't like any plants being taller than himself.
He needs very close supervision ?

Garden centres sell green things with leaves? Who knew?

This has made me giggle ?

That reminds me of my husband who one day came to the kitchen door clutching a large handful of long pointy green leaves. Look, he says, I’ve weeded that flower bed for you. He’d only cut off all my tulip and daffodil leaves!

He's just asked me if I wanted to go to the garden centre tomorrow.

I asked him why he thought that, his reply:

"Well, I thought you might like to buy that green thing."

I asked him what green thing he meant.

He replied "You know, that green thing with leaves"

Well, that narrows it downgrinand

Turns out, after further questioning, he meant a rather lovely hellebore that I had admired on our last visit!

Bless him!
