Really light hearted (superficial and daft) even) thread

On another post, someone suggested that it would be a good idea for posters to have avatars so that it would be easier to recognise each other.

In mind of that, I thought that perhaps we could describe ourselves a little, so that we can have a mental image?

You could start with a well known person who you have been told that you look a bit like; or a person who you would like to look like; or just give three adjectives.

So, to get the ball rolling, MrC thinks that I look like Boy George in his younger days (I know, aren't I the lucky one, blush)

I would love to look like Helena Bonham Carter, but I'd settle for Kirstie Alsop (they are sort of idealised versions of me).

I hope that we have some fun with this thread.
Do with it what you want!
Like I said, it's just a bit daftsmile

Mamaa we could be twins from the avatars grin

When I was young, some people thought I resembled Olivia Newton-John. Those were the days ... sad

Buttonjugs Mon 16-Nov-20 13:17:32

My ex daughter in law used to say I looked like Bette Midler. So think Bette Midler with three extra stone!

My husband thought I looked like Jan Francis in Just Good Friend days and Belinda Lang in 2.4 children, which I was happy about. Sadly, I think I look much older than them now (though I'm not).
Famous people seem to age so well compared with us normal people. I used to be skinny like Twiggy and look girlish like her but she looks younger now. Lulu also looks very young.

Daddima

My son’s friend always calls me Wendy, as he said I looked like Wendy James ( I’ve never heard of her either). However, I suspect he meant Wendy Richards ( Pauline Fowler off of Eastenders), and didn’t like to admit his mistake!
I was approached in a Glasgow restaurant once and asked if I was Margo MacDonald (SNP politician), and before the hair colouring and weight loss I looked like Ma Larkin!
Nowadays I don’t look like anybody.

Wendy James was the singer in nineties band Transvision Vamp.

Well i was told years ago i looked like an actor in Eastenders.
I just hope the didn`t mean Roly.

How do I get an avatar? Asking for a friend ;)

hapgran Mon 16-Nov-20 13:40:59

Mirror mirror on the wall,

hapgran Mon 16-Nov-20 13:41:42

Nannyto3- you need to start a new thread.....

fuseta Mon 16-Nov-20 13:44:06

In the early seventies I was told I looked like Susan George.

Susiewakie Mon 16-Nov-20 13:44:22

I look like a female version of my dad same eyes etc.I also moved to a suburb of Derby and I am constantly mistaken for a lady who is a keen horserider and goes (prelockdown) to real ale pubs .I am sometimes accosted by people cross as I have ignored them we even have the same coat from next I gather

CherryCezzy Mon 16-Nov-20 13:51:03

Nannyknee I've been told I look like Nana Mouskouri too. I've also been told I look like Elkie Brooks. Never saw it myself. As I've got older I've started to look like my mother but have my father's eyes. My WP (wonderful partner) has often been told he looks like Roger Waters. He does. For an avatar I would choose a cartoon animal rather than a cartoon person though, a bit like Tigger ?

Joplin Mon 16-Nov-20 13:51:16

I've always been mistaken for Jilly Cooper - the smile & the hair, I believe.

QuaintIrene Mon 16-Nov-20 13:58:07

I used to look like Gladys Pugh from Hi di Hi. It was the black hair and pixie cut I think.
Now, I avoid mirrors.

mamaa Mon 16-Nov-20 14:00:02

Mrsdof I thought that too but I think your hair is fairer than mine!smile

mrsgreenfingers56 Mon 16-Nov-20 14:09:45

I have been told a few times I look like Goldie Hawn.

Puzzler61 Mon 16-Nov-20 14:10:59

A drunken man once came up to me at a bus stop and insisted I was Glenda Jackson. I’m not sure he was a good judge ! ?

Andyf Mon 16-Nov-20 14:11:58

Well this is what my son did to me using an app. ?
I hope no one recognises me.

netflixfan Mon 16-Nov-20 14:15:36

I look like Tubs from the league of gentlemen. Not kidding! Nothing that the new vaccine, a healthy diet, hairdresser, gym and a facial won’t fix!

olliebeak Mon 16-Nov-20 14:20:18

One of my nans informed me - at the age of 11 - that I looked like Libby Morris!

I was most upset at the time ................ in 1962, no girl of that age wanted to be told that she looked like Libby Morris - even if she WAS a very talented woman hmm!

Purplepoppies Mon 16-Nov-20 14:25:49

Apparently I look like my mums half sister. She in turn looks like my grandmother, so I guess I look like my grandma!
All my girls (dd & two gds) look like me!
But here's my avatar ?

Scrappydo Mon 16-Nov-20 14:27:42

Apparently I used to look & sound like Pauline Quirke from Birds of a feather according to some work colleagues. Probably because I grew up in Islington London (before it became posh) & sound common?

Janiepops Mon 16-Nov-20 14:38:59

That’s my avatar, and the real me!

Sheilasue Mon 16-Nov-20 14:44:03

My mum, every one in the family tells me that.
