Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark, and wet outside this morning in Brackley.
Today , tidy up , may even start to compile my xmas card list.
Although I popped out twice yesterday , its getting quiet again , maybe the government may have finally got the message across .
I do those figures that are broadcast on the news , and there are figure errors , with Matt Hancock yesterday at briefing he gave sundays figures as the new ones had not been posted on a relevant website.
Take Care ,
Mick

Good morning all from Essex and it’s looking quite bright out there.

I might dog walk with a friend today , as I haven’t seen her in a while and I think she’s lonely. We’ll have a nice chat and catch-up on the way.

Happy birthday mr.N . Enjoy the duck.

Thanks for good wishes on DH’s pending ear op. It isn’t until next week, but he has to have a covid test beforehand.

granmattie glad you’re feeling brighter and I love your vase of chilliest. How pretty.

Hope everyone is feeling ok and try to have a pleasant day. ???

Gingster Tue 17-Nov-20 08:18:47

Not chilliest. Chillies! ?

Sun’s up here! ?
Good morning everyone from Malaga where we have a forecast again of 25°C ? a mini heatwave this week to see us on our way before we fly home next week! Lovely. We walked along the paseo I was in crop pants, a tee shirt and sandals. The Mediterranean was a deep sparkling blue and there we’re hardly any people. We bumped into a couple we know - we haven’t seen them all the time we’ve been out here so that was a nice surprise. We sat and had a beer with them, in the shade (it was so hot) under the orange trees.

Today is my ‘ladies who wine’ afternoon. Only 2 of us (my 85y old neighbour) because of the restrictions. There will be a new announcement next Monday - I hope we are allowed to cross the river bed as I will then be able to spend LWW with all the ladies before I go home. Fingers crossed!

Slow cooker today - they are handy when the weather is hot as no oven heat. I’m making braised beef with carrots & onions and will dish up a plate for my neighbour. It will be a farewell plate to remind us of all those times when I did it twice a week during the strict 9 week lockdown here. They were trying times. We couldn’t even leave our landing. Looking back, I don’t know how I kept my sanity. And imagine if one had small children in such confined space! No garden, no going out for a walk. And yet, looking at the Covid figures today in Spain did it do any good really?

Hope Tuesday is kind to us all. usually go for a cycle every morning for an hour leaving at 7.30 to 7.45 am when it is a bit lighter. Then have breakfast and a leisurely bath. Today have some housework to do, may write a few more Christmas cards and a bridge match tonight. Also need to cook tea for the 5 of us and make an apple and almond cake. Gosh momb I felt exhausted even reading about your day! #lazygran.

Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Good morning team Mick from S Lanarkshire where the breeze is strong and the rain is falling heavily once more.

Ashcombe as a child I lived in the shadow of the parish church and loved to hear the bells marking the quarter hours. I spent my summers in Dublin and still remember how the Angelus bells rang out at 12 and 6.

What kind of shoe dye is that Marydoll? It looks very effective.

Not much happening today, I have some parcels arriving, more Christmas gifts for the family. I’m enjoying planning and buying for them.

Look after yourselves today.

Wishing a Happy Birthday to MrNortsat ??

GrannyGravy13 Tue 17-Nov-20 08:28:10

Good morning Mick and all

Happy Birthday MrNortsat ? , good luck dragonfly .

I remember what a palaver it was to take those tablets, sitting upright, wallowing in water and hungry!!!!

We have the baby here today and pick his brother up after school for a sleepover, consequently not a lot will get done !!!

Marydoll I know how you feel regarding wrapping paper stash, I am starting to wrap Christmas Gifts and getting slightly twitchy as I am getting low so I will be ordering on line.

Have I missed Urmstongran posting the last few days? I cannot recall reading them!

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️

Morning Mick, morning All from a grey and gloomy looking corner of Somerset. Should have a visit from a man who can hopefully clear a gutter for us, must remind Mr C to keep his distance, otherwise a quiet day ahead. Covid numbers escalating here, a very cross granddaughter has to self isolate for 2 weeks because of a school outbreak. That little family of 3 have had one of them isolating for 5 of the last 6 weeks. Thankfully all are well so far. Best get a wriggle on in case our gutter man is early. Take care everyone, hope the day is as good as it can be.

Marydoll Tue 17-Nov-20 08:36:06

Happy birthday, Mr Nortsat.

Baubles, the shoe dye.

It did need about three coats and had a slighly chalky feel. I just sealed it with a waterproofing spray, which sorted that. Result! grin

Good morning everyone from a wet but surprisingly warm south Cornwall. I thought my heating had come on when I got up, although it's not set to do that. Beechnut, being nosy, but what are you making with air dry clay? Grandmattie glad you feel able to tell us how it really is. Marydoll I saw your photo and thought one of them was a cake! Must get out more....

My son had to pop into my town yesterday and messaged me to say, 'What lockdown?!' The town is abuzz with people, many bigger shops are open and cafes are doing takeaways. You see couples sitting on steps and in corners drinking coffee. People are reluctant to give up socialising, but oddly it feels safe, plenty of distancing and masks and the shops are counting people in and out.

Farmers market just down the road this morning. They sell lovely sourdough bread.

Have the best day you can everyone. thanks

Stilllearning Tue 17-Nov-20 08:49:34

Another good morning from S Lanarkshire. As baubles said, dark and wet but with the promise of a dry afternoon. If so, a walk and outdoor coffee and scone in a friend’s garden, if not a much needed tidy up.
This morning’s adventure is joining in a new Zoom book club. I’ve got through this whole thing without attempting Zoom and am quite nervous!
Marydoll, love your dyed trainers, lovely colour.
Wishing a good day to everyone!

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Taichinan Tue 17-Nov-20 09:01:16

Good morning everyone. It's grey on the Angus coast today. Windy too, judging by the way the lower grey clouds are scudding by. Yesterday was lovely though, and I spent a wee while down by the pond watching the fish. There's something very therapeutic about doing that, and it's quite unusual for them to be so active at this time of year - shows climate change really is a thing.

DD fell while out running yesterday and sent a photo of herself absolutely covered in mud. She really is too old for puddle splashing! She took herself off to the Small Injuries Unit as she couldn't get all the farmyard muck out of the cuts on her hand - a very sensible precaution. She says it's fine this morning. Dangerous pastime, this running though.

Off to get my hair cut soon and then to meet my niece for a quick coffee and catch up. Tomorrow it's the optician. The calendar has been empty of appointments for ages, and then they're like buses and everything comes at once.

Your shoes look lovely Marydoll and will have pride of place in your Imelda-like collection I'm sure! Like you, I always wore heels - wouldn't be seen dead in flatties outside the gym - but now comfort comes first. In fact my favourite shoes of the moment (aka the past year) are trainers. How times change.

Glad to hear that your dreams weren't too extreme after your injection Marydoll. And that your treatment is passing Dragonfly without too much discomfort. Grandmattie it's good to know that your black dog is getting back in its kennel, where it belongs. It's horrid for you when it gets out. I hope as always that everyone's trials are easier today and that everyone finds something to bring a smile to their faces. Take care and stay safe. ???

Beechnut Tue 17-Nov-20 09:01:39

I made these hanging tiles Mellow. I got the idea from a Woman’s Weekly magazine although they did a clay board.

aggie Tue 17-Nov-20 09:16:29

Good morning all it’s unseasonably mild today ! I was looking for a cool place to store the puddings I made over the last few days

Gelisajams Tue 17-Nov-20 09:17:55

Good morning from a damp breezy Morecambe Bay.
A day of bits and pieces planned. Exercise shortly then mushroom and lentil soup and some flapjacks to make, the knees of DH’s work trousers need patching, rose bushes to prune and a concerted effort to find a mislaid book.
My grandson is in isolation yet again as a close contact at school is positive, his sister is off for 2 weeks because there are not enough teachers and their mother a teacher was sent home to isolate as her classroom assistant is positive. She has only been back a week after having COVID herself. DS is still tired but recovering and hopes to be back in work later this week.
Take care and stay safe everyone ?

MellowYellow Tue 17-Nov-20 09:19:12

Oh thank you Beechnut. You've inspired me. I may make clay bunting. Your tiles are beautiful.

HAZBEEN Tue 17-Nov-20 09:20:46

Good morning everyone! Its a bit overcast here but as I am not going anywhere it doesn't really matter!
OH did his covid test for the Imperial College thingy yesterday and today he is taking our elderly neighbour (she is in our bubble) for a drive through test before her hospital visit on Friday. That means I will have a whole hour to myself!
I made a large lamb pie with the leftovers from Sunday yesterday so I need to wrap up the rest for the freezer and I might make some rock buns (OHs favourites) today.
Stay safe all.

Greyduster Tue 17-Nov-20 09:21:52

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Cool, grey and blowy here in South Yorkshire - I don’t know how the window cleaner is staying on his ladder! I went to bed with a grumbling tooth last night. I hope it’s not going to be a problem because my dentist has gone right off the radar! It’s my son in law’s birthday this week so I’m going to make him a birthday cake today and hope it will cheer his birthday up. The poor chap has been furloughed for ages and I know how much he’d like to get back to work. He nearly did until this latest lockdown hit us. He’s another who fell while running on Sunday, Taichinan; cut his shin. As you say, can be risky sometimes. Have a good safe day folks. No running please!

Mapleleaf Tue 17-Nov-20 09:24:02

Good morning,
It’s a bit brighter here today. Haven’t stepped outside yet, so not sure how warm it is out there.
Hope you all have a reasonable day. Keep safe.

Susan56 Tue 17-Nov-20 09:32:58

Good morning from rainy Shropshire.

Will catch up on admin and laundry today.Like Lins I have Christmas cards I could write and presents I could wrap but probably won’t.As DGD would say it’s too early grandma. She is five on Friday and last week we saw a Christmas tree in someone’s window and she said it’s too early,it hasn’t even been my birthday yet!

Glad you are feeling brighter grandMattie and that Mr Lins is on the mend too.Hope Mary and Cherry are feeling better today too and that your treatment goes well today dragonfly.

Thinking of gilly,I do miss her and our other missing goodmorningers.Have the best day you can everybody and stay safe.

Shropshirelass Tue 17-Nov-20 09:38:51

Shropshire is grey, mild and breezy. No rain forecast today, good because my washing is merrily blowing in the wind which is also blowing the leaves into piles and into the hedge making leaf collecting a little easier. Will go out with the dogs and then unpack my new sewing machine and have a little play. Must do some sorting out too. Happy Tuesday everyone.

Nannytopsy Tue 17-Nov-20 09:43:59

Good morning Mick and all his followers. Cloudy, bright and windy here in Suffolk but I don’t know how warm it is yet.
We had grandMattie’s chicken last night and loved it, despite only having pita bread. Definitely doing that one again.
We were on duty most of yesterday with grandchildren and associated dogs but I did manage to start shortening two pairs of trousers, which just need machining now.
After the first school run, which involved a walk of about 300yds, I was in such pain with my knee again, so I have made an appointment with an acupuncturist for this morning. She can’t make it any worse! When DS was a medical student he went to a GP practice where they had halved the bill for NSAIDs. The GP trained in acupuncture and an old chap in the village grew cannabis for himself and others in the village with arthritis. ?
I’ll start with acupuncture!
DH is banished to the shed to get it clean and tidy ready for a new, smallish chest freezer.
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

CherryCezzy Tue 17-Nov-20 09:45:45

Good morning everyone. It's a rainy day in the Gower.

Marydoll, good dye job on the trainers - much better colour than the original too. My WP dyed my hair yesterday. It's a slightly (not much) different shade to the one I've been using but it's made a big difference. A positive one I think ?.
You seem a bit perkier today too ?. Almost back to your novellas, which is a sign I think. Hope I'm right ?

You too seem brighter today too grandMattie ?

Happy birthday to your partner Nortsat ? ?. I hope you both enjoy your meal later, cheesecake is one of my favourite desserts ?

I hope your treatment goes well today dragonfly. Just a few left now ?

I must get through to the council today to renew my blue badge. There's been an error and I can't seem to get that fixed online ?. Hope I can actually get an answer and it can be rectified. I also need to get round to ringing the optician. I really can't put up with the "Eric" look any longer ?

I hope everyone has a reasonable day, sorry to hear that so many of you have DCs and DGCs off school and isolating. ? for you all.

Stay safe and be kind to yourselves everyone ❤️

Grandmafrench Tue 17-Nov-20 09:45:48

Good Morning everyone. ?‍♀️ A simply beautiful day here in the South ??. Not even a breeze yet and my bedroom filled with sunshine and the scent from our Eleagnus hedges.

In normal times, we’d be off to market this morning. We’d buy specifically for lunch and be happily inspecting hams and cheeses, fruit and fresh produce from ‘small’ local growers. We’d limit ourselves to a basket each to carry, catch up with friends we’d not seen and join in with conversations in queues for the stalls. By the time we’d bought what we wanted, the smells of roasting chickens, dishes of paella and tureens of warm, caramelised rice pudding would have encouraged us to collect a couple of pastries to eat in the square with a sociable coffee, before heading home. A slow pace of life, lots of waving and greeting and endless conversation. And now? Stall holders are there, everyone in masks, no browsing, keeping away from each other, beautiful bags and coloured baskets displayed in the sunshine and so few customers brave or stupid enough to want to linger. 8 months at least for me and how I miss what is, in these parts, an institution.

So we take advantage of the weather which is now limited to the house and garden and we wait....not always patiently, I should add.

Yesterday was a full on activity day. Hung out two wash loads, ironed them, weeded a pathway, put another coat of paint on some shelving, DH did the same to walls and ceiling, did the weekly shop, put everything away, made some aubergine chutney, prepared a load of rice, chicken and veg for dog meals, cut the lawn. By 4.30 we’d come to the conclusion that sitting down - to watch a film might be an idea; so watched “Summerland” with Gemma Arterton, Penelope Wilton and Tom Courtenay. Something whimsical, with lovely photography of our old stomping ground in Sussex (depicted as wartime Kent).

Just spotted in time that the insane autocorrect has changed aubergine to ‘submerging’ chutney? It makes previewing exhausting and just a bit tiresome!

Get every last ray that you can Urms - so you leave on a high after your crazy year! Loved your squidgy shoes, Mary what a good idea, and they do look very comfortable. Good luck for today, dragonfly. Happy Birthday ? ? Mr Nortsat (3 wonderful words, salted, caramel and cheesecake! Onwards and upwards Mattiex Mr Sar and Nannytopsy (?) be kind to those legs and wishing you some relief today.

Anyone and everyone unwell, or in pain or just fed up, warm wishes are sent to you in the hope that life improves pretty damn soon. Keep posting, all, (if only to share a moan) and remember how much the sharing can help spread some cheer - and some laughter too.

Take care of yourselves today and always.
Hugs from French France ???????
