Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark, and wet outside this morning in Brackley.
Today , tidy up , may even start to compile my xmas card list.
Although I popped out twice yesterday , its getting quiet again , maybe the government may have finally got the message across .
I do those figures that are broadcast on the news , and there are figure errors , with Matt Hancock yesterday at briefing he gave sundays figures as the new ones had not been posted on a relevant website.
Take Care ,
Mick

Hello and good morning from a grey Northampton. At least it's dry, though we had rain last night.

Will be making the Christmas cakes today; am doing two loaf tin sized ones, one each for DS and DD. Will have to watch oven temperature and timings carefully. No pudding to make this year as I made two last year, and have one in the freezer.

Have nearly decided on my Christmas gift list this year, had a brainwave for DS and DSon-in-law, and also DS's partner. Received the DGDs' wish lists yesterday, so just DD to decide on. Christmas cards and stamps bought, might need more gift wrap.

Have decided that I need, no, want, a new handbag. Well I did notice that the strap on one of mine has a split in it, so if course I can justify it...... I have seen one on line from a company I have bought from before, and their bags are lovely. Will treat myself even though I have nowhere to go - hoping I'll be able to show it off next year!

I too take those wretched weekly tablets; I tend to rush downstairs, take it, and then go and have my shower, and by the time I've finished I can have my cup of tea and breakfast. My day is tomorrow, but have to be up earlier tomorrow anyway, as the gasman is coming to service the boiler, any time from 8am onwards.

Ah well, cake-making calls! Then this afternoon will look for something to watch amongst my recordings; watched a Poirot yesterday, and then caught up with the programmes I'd recorded when I was at DD's at the weekend.

Have a nice day everyone.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s just stopped raining and it’s quite mild today.
I’m posting a bit later than usual as we had the DGC for a sleepover last night and did the school run this morning. It’s lovely having them to stay but so exhausting , I’m just recovering now with a late breakfast and reading all the lovely news on here.
Such a lot of very talented people here, I love the dyed trainers marydoll and the tiles beechnut and all the delicious sounding cooking of course ... yum!
Happy Birthday Mr Norsat - enjoy your meal later!
So pleased you’re back with us grandmattie you’ve definitely been missed!
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today, I’m off now to tidy up the house ... take care all whatever the day brings ?

You’re absolutely spot on Grandmafrench about me being able to go home on a high. Thank you. x

Good morning Mick and all who follow (possibly just me) from a dry sunny Greater Manchester.

I finally dozed off this morning just as DD was getting up for work, sho I've had about 3 hours sleep. No idea why.

I'm exhausted reading about the busy times some Grams are having. I'm definitely changing my name to Grandma Procrastination. I unpacked my new lino cutting kit in Friday. Researched 'easy lino cutting projects' on Saturday. On Sunday I sent for some more bits of non essential equipment. Some arrived yesterday and some will arrive today. Tomorrow I'm having a Zoom meeting with some friends so it might be Thursday when I actually make a start.

I have so many important things to do today like take all the cushions off the sofa, plump then up and rearrange them. Oh and wash and put away a Tesco delivery this afternoon. I'm going to make a chilli for later. That's it then. Much too busy to do lino cutting!

Hope everyone with ills or worries has as peaceful a day as possible. Stay safe flowers

Yes I take those tablets daily Marydoll but only have to fast for 6 hours so it is easy really. I take them when I wake up then spend an hour in bed reading. It only becomes a nuisance when I have to be somewhere early in the morning. So far that hasn't been a problem. Our hospitals do not do the 6 monthly infusions. Goodness knows what they are doing to my bones but my nails are amazing!!

Georgesgran Tue 17-Nov-20 10:52:05

Good morning from Durham where it’s very mild outside although I didn’t go to bed until 3am and couldn’t get warm.

No car today - it’s in for MOT and service. Garage has already said the brake fluid needs changing, the air-con re-gassing and the subframe should be waxed, as it’s an expensive car and I want to keep it. Then there’s the actual service etc, so expecting a hefty bill. My mantra is that any fool can buy an expensive car, it’s keeping it on the road that matters!

I suppose I should make a start on Christmas. I’m not an online shopper, so a new experience I’m not looking forward to. DH is on the very vulnerable list, so only going out once a week to one shop, list in hand and no browsing.

Saw DD1 and DGS yesterday - might see them later today too. Mondays and Tuesdays are her weekend.

Hope everyone has the best day today. X

Good Morning all from dry and cloudy Harrogate. Can't think of Xmas cards yet, Mick.
Not happy to read in the paper that walking the dog and having shopping delivered are two good ways of catching this wretched virus!!!!
Got baking to do this morning, then more work on my Macbook to get it running more efficiently.
Have the best day possible folks, tomorrow will be a better day.

Annapops Tue 17-Nov-20 11:08:42

Good morning all from County Durham.

I've just completed my 4k run in under 30 mins so that's pretty good for me. I always run better earlier in the day and feel much fresher for it.

Online shopping delivery arriving soon and without my mini helper here just how will I cope? I am beginning to miss kiddie days so much now, although they are such hard work at the time.

DH out at his bird hide (something that has been his project over the past few weeks). I'm really pleased he's taken it on with such enthusiasm as it's certainly kept him occupied. There's only so much DIY you can do around the house and to be quite honest the less disruption this time of year the better for me.

Later this afternoon I'm meeting DD1 and GD2 for a leisurely walk with flask and cake on hand. It's her 8th wedding anniversary today. What happy memories that brings. The photographs looked beautiful amid a backdrop of Autumn leaves. We were so fortunate the trees seemed to retain them a little longer that year.

Have the best day you can everyone.

EllanVannin Tue 17-Nov-20 11:27:03

Good Morning All x.
Not too bad a morning so far, bright enough and mild with it.
Had the bedding out for a couple of hours yesterday then had to lift up valance and sheet because the grass-cutters decided to give the lawns a mowing. I also had to keep an eye on my little growing holly tree that it wasn't strimmed away.
The smell of grass was heavenly afterwards.smile

Not sure if D will take me to Asda as I have to be ready anyway in case she's spared a couple of hours in between split shifts at work or picking up children. I take a chance by being prepared each day as her time is more precious than mine. Never any hard and fast arrangements.

Lamb chops today with cauli and mashed potatoes. Chops are rather thick so I'll be doing them in the oven. I'll be doing extra potato for potato cakes tomorrow with bacon egg and tomato, so that's me sorted until Thursday.

Tuesdays are my Miss Marple days as there are a series of her films from 8pm until gone 10, one week it was 11pm. It's on the Drama channel and I look forward to them.

I've got some bids on the go on Ebay this next couple of days so I keep vanishing to see how they're doing. I get all fingers and thumbs towards the end of them and usually lose out grin Hope I get one at least. Then some serious present buying as I've done nothing yet.

Two Birthdays this week, one of which is a GGD who'll be 8 the last one of the GGC's Birthdays which I've missed all year. Ah well, all being well next year will be different.

Make the most of your stay Urmston as sadly you won't be waking up to the same weather. It'll be quite a culture shock when you're back.

Taking in your lovely post Grandmafrench. It always puts me in mind of the family in the Chateau series with the flowers,fruit-laden trees and flying insects. Everything fresh to hand. Do you grow grenadines yet ?

Have a better day Marydoll and try and not do so much smile x
Dragonfly, you're doing well too----nearly over.x

Hope there aren't too many struggles for you all today, it doesn't harm to take it easy now and again.
Thoughts to Gilly x

Stay safe and well everyone. flowers

Taichinan Tue 17-Nov-20 11:28:47

MellowYellow I thought Marydoll"'s shoes were rather attractive planters at first ?. I love your tiles *Beechnut - very pretty and delicate. What a beautiful word picture of markets gone by Grandmafrench - I was there for a moment ??

Good morning all. I have spent half the morning on the ‘phone to my Homecare insurers trying to tell them we have a new boiler. Sounds simple but apparently it requires speaking to several departments! I dread to think what it’s done to my blood pressure and my ‘phone bill. The sun is shining so will be off out for a walk after lunch.

EllanVannin Tue 17-Nov-20 11:35:22

Taichinan, I too can " lose myself " in Grandmafrench's posts, they're so uplifting.

NannyJan53 Tue 17-Nov-20 11:41:00

Good Morning (just) from a very dull but mild Black Country.
I am not at all jealous Urmston well....maybe just a tad grin

Seem to have spent most of the morning making Delia Smiths meatball recipe. Simmering in the oven now, and I will pop over to Mums this afternoon, and message DD if she would like to have them. I am pretty sure I know what the answer will be. She drives past Mums house on the way back from school. So they will be left in the porch.

Wishing you all a good afternoon

MellowYellow Tue 17-Nov-20 11:45:03

Taichinan ???

Good morning from a wind blown but remarkably mild north of Scotland. I was woken an electric saw at 7 am. Someone is having trees cut down. I hope they could see what they were doing in the pitch dark. As a result I dragged myself from bed, did chores, went to the bank, dropped off a birthday gift and I’m home. I dare not have posted here at 7 am or I’d have been doing everything in the afternoon. I must admit to having had a few very gloomy days. My daughter was supposed to come and stay in the annex but is in tier three and although she could have driven and stayed without seeing anyone, she did the right thing and remained at home. But oh! I was looking forward to her visit and garden chats under rugs. Having something to look forward to was keeping me going. I’ve given myself a shake and found the tennis yesterday. I’m taking advice from “can’t remember who” on here and making a short list to achieve in the morning, incorporating a walk, then I’m allowed to see the tennis.
dragonfly Your fortitude amazes me. ?
Off to unload the dishwasher before our leader gives the briefing. I don’t agree with her politics, but admire how efficiently she is dealing with this, turns up consistently well prepared and looking calm and confident. I wouldn’t have her job for anything. She couldn’t have expected to face this but she is certainly grasping the mettle.
Have the best day you can everyone and special thanks to granmafrench and urmstongran for their sunshine. ☀️

GrannySomerset Tue 17-Nov-20 11:55:10

Infuriating morning - new washing machine appears to be leaking. Think the waste pipe has not been properly secured but can’t actually see unless I can get someone to move the machine - far too heavy for me. No point in beating Bosch about the ears if it is something so simple. How I hate being too old to do things. So I have a lot of laundry waiting attention and no clear idea of how to proceed. I may just go outside and scream, which won’t help but may make me feel better.

Grandmafrench Tue 17-Nov-20 12:50:10

Who installed it, GrannySomerset ? Get them back presto, pronto. You cannot be expected to move a washing machine - you’ll do yourself a mischief and no one will care (except us). And if it’s not the drain hose? You’ll have hurt yourself for nothing. I’m annoyed for you, but if all else fails a local electrical shop should be able to give you the number of a Mr Fixit for fridges, w/machines etc. ? Good luck.

Yes, Ellan I have 3 trees - grenadines. Love the flowers on them. Buckets of sunlight en route to you, Taichinan and feelingmyage and a group hug for grannysomerset. grandmasue as long as you don’t lose your sense of humour, you can spend all day busy doing nothing. It won’t hurt. ?

Hi afternoon Sparkling. I'm late posting as I have had problems with my boiler, anyway it's sorted now. I left work two years ago to look after my husband. We both like cakes, I've put on two stone so I've cut down on the baking now
