I have the washing machine on with bed linen so putting clean linen on will be my first task. I then will go for a walk while it is still dry. I have some ironing to do and i then plan to wrap up christmas gifts, curstesy of a well known online service. I may also write cards. I also have a call to make regarding a planned trip to Cornwall next April and hopefully will book it. Its good to have things to do for a change.smile

Phoned DD for a natter while bedding was in the wash, then stripped out the main bathroom, all toiletries, everything cluttered around the bath and gave it a good thorough clean. Just waiting for floor to dry and will then have a ruthless throw out of shampoo bottles with a dribble in the bottom of them, glass cleaner to remove water stains on chrome towel rail, then clean towels, bath mat and close door. Tomorrow I will do our own en suite. Shall go and put a chilli on for dinner, then take dog for a spin.

To the three grans who are off to the dentist, good luck. Be brave.

A walk earlier, a lovely (sort of) sunny and mild day, emptied dishwasher, then shuffled food between two tiny freezers one indoors and the other outside, checking dates and bring older food in and put newer outside, ie stock rotation. Too much snow in bith freezers which i beat with a wooden spoon to try to dislodge.....and now my back is hurting so sitting down.
Soon it will be time for lunch ( mackerel on sourdough with beetroot and cucumber) and the rest of the day will be cleaning and sorting. If I coukd raise the enthusiasm to get on top of it all I would enjoy just pottering/ relaxing/ drinking wine, (or better, make that gin.) clearly am not a big fan of housework.
Notice ladybirds appearing indoors, its that time of year again.
Have a peaceful and happy day everyone.

Bob came to fix the pilot light. Whilst he was here I wrote some Christmas cards. When he left I ironed the sheets washed and dried yesterday , then Put on the bathroom linen to wash and now drying them.

I’ve sown two woolly sheep onto my Christmas wreath for one of my DC. Have begun to draw paint the gift card to go with it - Holly with love and hugs label.

Now just made some dumplings and put them into the Irish stew for mid day meal. The stew was left over as I made sufficient for two days.

Now going to sit down with a glass of wine whilst I wait for the dumplings to cook and cauliflower also.

That’s this morning taken care of ???

I went for a 2 hour walk and passed the army barracks near Woolwich Common where the soldiers were out exercising their horses and practising some manoeuvres with them. It was wonderful to watch. Then I walked through Maryon Wilson Park and saw the deer, pigs, horses and sheep and goats in there. Finally as I headed home I saw a man who had seen an injured fox and had rung someone to come and collect it. He was standing by the side of the road keeping the fox on the bank away from the traffic. It is amazing how much you can see on just one walk!

I've just made a chicken curry, had a sit down with a coffee at 10ish, trimmed all the geraniums on my front doorstep, swept the doorstep, and the morning has gone!

LadyGracie Tue 17-Nov-20 12:46:58

Pouring down here again, it has been for days.
I’ve tidied the sunroom ready for new chairs on Thursday, tidied kitchen cupboards, made a cake. I’ve done today’s jigsaw on my iPad whilst having coffee. I’m seriously tempted to pick up my kindle and read and carry on with my knitting.

DH is in his workshop building GD a dolls house so he’s happy.

Went for early morning walk. Just put coat of paint on downstairs door frames in hall, second coat later today. (on going project as decorating the hall in stages). Just stopped for a cup of coffee before hoovering upstairs. Will then chill for a while and read my book. After second coat of paint will pop to Sainsburys, then home to sort out dinner. Was going to do some gardening but am a fair weather gardener and as it is dull and damp outside will give that a miss. Later will settle down with the cats and watch I'm a Celeb. Almost forgot, had to open the backdoor numerous times to let the dog in and out as she chases the pigeons out of the garden. Dog walk is DH job when he gets home from work.

I've tidied up and at the present moment waiting for my bread to rise that I made in the food processor, waiting for MIL's box of parsley dinners to arrive. This afternoon spaghetti bolognese to make for tonight's tea half to eat half to freeze.

dogsmother Tue 17-Nov-20 12:34:26

Visited vets, walked dogs. Visited post op friend to deliver card and grapes (yes grapes lol).
Cleaned bathroom and downstairs toilet. Put washing on.
Now sitting with coffee, decaf as I like lots and I sleep better since taking this stuff.

Happysexagenarian Tue 17-Nov-20 12:27:29

Washing in the machine, just cleaned the bedrooms, ironing is next then I can settle down to some sewing for the rest of the day without feeling guilty. Just instructed DH which roses to dig up and move and where to. It's a dry bright day here and I'd like to help him in the garden but I'm expecting several parcel deliveries today so want to be within hearing distance of the doorbell.

Rosina Tue 17-Nov-20 12:27:27

Vacuumed house, cleaned bathroom, cleaned garden furniture, weeded beds, sorted internet banking, fobbed off nuisance caller, played for far too long with cat (now have scratched arms!) sorted shopping delivery, now want to have some lunch and sit with newspaper.

Just received a parcel from Amazon which I will have to return. My huge error!!! Interestingly, in all my years of dealing with them, I've never done a return. I now discover there's no return slip but simply a compliment slip from the actual sender. Anybody out there advise me please? I will, of course, get started online but you ladies are usually more experienced, knowledgeable and practical. Thanks in anticipation.

Kim, if you log into your Amazon account under My Orders you should see Returns. If you click on that you get a step by step instruction and also a printable returns label and a slip to enclose inside the parcel. Returns are usually free and you can either take the oracle to your local Amazon pick up place or the post office.

Got soaked doing the shopping this morning.

Now DH and I are going to make a nativity scene when he gets up from his rest.

Urmstongran I'm so jealous. Dark & dreary here in N.Ireland...

Kseniya Tue 17-Nov-20 11:55:44

Yes, things are invigorating! I have a plan today to seal the windows with a mirror film from excess light and prying eyes, my husband really wants. also small washing and cleaning. I'll take a walk on the balcony)

Cabbie21 Tue 17-Nov-20 11:35:25

I went over the road to Aldi at 8 am. It is always quiet then, but today there were 5 people in the queue in front of me and only one checkout open. Most unusual.
Then I had breakfast, checked my emails and prepared for online volunteer work online, only to get a message that the client had to postpone till tomorrow. Yesterday’s was another wasted appointment as it turned out she had not even sent for the form I was going to help her with. So that’s three mornings.
As far as chores are concerned I am best at getting stuck in first thing, so no chores achieved either. I have been out for some exercise though, and now trying to decide what else to do whilst the light is still good.

bridie54 Tue 17-Nov-20 11:31:07

Really blowy here in Angus too but I've no washing to hang out. Just finished a Zoom call with my quilt group and now off to peel some of my own windfall apples to make apple cake. Sadly my sewing machine needs a repair so will make a quick trip up the road to my sister who has my old machine. Am making some more masks. Oh, and will tune in to hear what delights Nicola has for us today.

marionk Tue 17-Nov-20 11:30:56

Day 7 of our isolation due to my dh testing positive for Covid, no symptoms yet for either of us so I am making the best of being stuck at home and I might just write my Christmas cards! I have made tonight’s curry, am about to do my online Pilates and my family have gifted me a new jigsaw with a Christmas theme so I will do a bit more of that. WI Zoom meeting tonight - all hopefully keeping my mind off our health worries

Loaded dishwasher, vacuumed, washed kitchen floor, raked leaves into a soggy pile and then ran out of energy. There's a carpet of mouldering sunflower hearts on the grass under the bird feeders which I just can't face. Used to have three pigeons that dealt with spillages but they seem to have disappeared.
After lunch I might start my new book The Goldfinch but it's an enormous block of a book, over 700 pages and I could do with a book stand to take the weight.
Anybody read it by the way?
If I chicken out I'll catch up with The Undoing or start the new series of The Crown.
