Another vacuous thread! Tenuous Claims to Fame

The more tenuous and obscure the better!
My aunty went out with the bloke who designed * both*
A) the Cadbury's Chocolate Orange packaging, and
B) Buzby, the British Telecom mascot

Beat that Gransnetterssmile

Thank you FC for a great thread ... it was much enjoyed.

Of course I WON not Riverwalk.
It’s a huge Gransnet Conspiracy to deny me and all the evil Democrats and Socialists on GN have cooked up fake tenuous claims to fame, to defeat me.
The Supreme Court at GNHQ will eventually overturn Riverwalk’s fake victory and my shortlisted (but not even in the top three) entry will be confirmed as the winner, after multiple recounts and several court battles.
(If you need me, I’ll be on the golf course ...)

I’ll add my thanks - really good fun

Memorable competition! I’ll remember the worthy winners (and many of the other entries) far more than Strictly or Booker winners smile

Take a bow Fannycornforth for starting a thread that was amusing, enjoyable and kind thanks

Auntieflo Mon 23-Nov-20 14:14:05

Thanks FC for this thread.
Many apologies that I didn't vote, and have only just realised that the worthy winner has been announced.
Will she receive a Vacuous, tenuous prize? and can we vote for what it might possibly be?

Very late to the thread, but we used to live in the next road to the owners of the original Dulux dogs, and my tin of paint may have had a few shed hairs on the lid.

Aldom Mon 23-Nov-20 14:18:13

Well......I live round the corner from a cousin of Pam Ayres.... Is there a booby prize for that!!!!

pollyperkins Mon 23-Nov-20 14:23:15

I see I’m too late to say I have met Eric Morcombe’s daughter , and my son was in the same class at school as Michael Buerk’s twin boys.

FannyCornforth Mon 23-Nov-20 14:25:19

Oh no!
Flo and Aldom they are both great / rubbish CTF.

You could have been contenders!sad

Yes- brilliant idea AuntieFlo - any ideas for Riverwalk's prize?

Grannybags Mon 23-Nov-20 14:30:30

Great fun. Is there a GN classics thread?

Riverwalk Mon 23-Nov-20 15:17:40

I can’t believe I’ve won - didn’t write an acceptance speech! Thank you kindly for all who voted and joined in the fun.

Nice to see so much acceptance of the democratic vote?

Puzzler61 Mon 23-Nov-20 15:27:55

How about a Virtual Wine and Chocolate tasting experience, for Riverwalk's prize?

glammagran Mon 23-Nov-20 19:33:00

My eldest daughter knows Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin enough to stop for a short chat if she encounters him. I was very jealous as I was a huge Led Zep fan. Daughter however, can’t stand their music ?

The Nobel Peace Prize is worth about £800,000 - but I'll settle for less for this equally important award smile

Callistemon Tue 24-Nov-20 10:58:53

I went to stay with my cousin in Liverpool in the 1960s and she told me 'one of those Beatles lives just round the corner. There are always girls hanging around outside'.
I said 'Well, I'm not going to be one of them!'.

Auntieflo Tue 24-Nov-20 11:23:08

Riverwalk, can't give you a virtual Nobel Peace Prize, but here is a little taste of what £800.000 looks like, in old U.S. dollars.

When I was a student in the late 70's, I worked as a waitress during the summer season in Blackpool. Paul Daniel's brother stayed in the hotel where I worked and I waited on his table...

Frank Carson sang 'I'll take you home again Kathleen', to me as an 11 year old when I asked him for his autograph while we were on holiday at Butlins Pwllheli...

Namsnanny Tue 24-Nov-20 11:48:29

Can I add my congratulations to all three winners, and a special Thank you to (round of applause ?) The wonderful, The fantabulous..... MISS FANNYCORNFORTH!!
