The more tenuous and obscure the better!
My aunty went out with the bloke who designed * both*
A) the Cadbury's Chocolate Orange packaging, and
B) Buzby, the British Telecom mascot

Interesting about The Who Silverlining as my cousin was their roadie in the 60's and somewhere I've got a signed photo of how they were in the 60's----" My Generation ".
The same cousin was a roadie to very many including Cream, Bee Gees, Emerson Lake and Palmer and a few more before becoming tour manager for Jimi Hendrix before Jimi's death.

In the 60's/70's I met many stars such as the late Frankie Vaughan ( such a nice chap ) Clive Lloyd, the cricketer ( another gentleman ) Betty Turpin ( Betty's hot pot fame, Corrie ) Donald Sinden and Michael Craig.

My great uncle was the publisher of “Winnie the Pooh”.

I saw Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones while on a school trip to Windsor. He must have died soon after.

Also had a conversation with Virginia McKenna at a service station while we were washing our hands. Her beautiful daughter was outside, waiting for her. She was only a small built lady, but what a lovely person.

We think we saw Ian Lavender in the café at the Natural History Museum. His brother was my brother's neighbour. Septimia, how about that for second-hand!

Mrs Corbyn (Jeremy's mother) taught at my school.
An ex-Poet Laureate also went to the school.
DD was in a dance competition with Kate Beckinsale when they were at school.

Oh, nearly forgot, ds1 sang "Yellow Submarine" to Diana Does and Alan Lake in a fish and chip restaurant in Virginia Water!

I look as if I was trying to see how many times I could mention school in one post. blush

We had our wedding night in the hotel where Jimi Hendrix had died a couple of weeks previously!

I used to live near Shugborough Hall in Staffs., the ancestral home of the late Patrick, Earl of Lichfield, cousin to the Queen and a society photographer. He supported our fight to keep the local school open, which was named after his family (Anson) so I met him then and when he attended a civic service at our church. A lovely man!

I spilled a pile of files over Lord Mountbatten’s shoes - and he helped me pick them up!?

Fanny I had a thread recently where almost everyone didn’t read the OP. Interesting that so many want to air their claim to fame and ignore the tenuous part.

Callistemon Thu 19-Nov-20 18:03:23

Ashcombe I was at a family wedding there and my brother and sister-in-law got told off by his Lordship for straying on the bit of lawn in front of his sitting room.
They hadn't realised his Lordship and guests were at home.

I stood next to Bob Windsor from Emmerdale at the baggage reclaim area in Palma airport

Calendargirl Thu 19-Nov-20 18:04:41

Robert Webb’s English teacher was in my class at school.

Witzend Thu 19-Nov-20 18:05:47

An old schoolfriend of dh was in advertising and dreamt up the ‘Naughty but nice’ ad for cream cakes - does anyone else remember that?

Ooh, I do!

I think I know who it is as well

The Tremeloes stopped their van to chat to my friend and me when we were walking home from a concert and the blond one kissed me goodnight.

CherryCezzy Thu 19-Nov-20 18:07:49

My mother went to school with Harry Secombe but I never met him.

My DH went to school with Stephen Hawking.

I appeared on Tonight when I was a brownie. We had to skip ?
Still a brownie I was in a guard of honour for Princess Margaret.
My Mum& Dad met Dudley Moore at a function & got me his autograph. I still have it (?££)
We went on same flight toTenerife as Ludovic Kennedy when he was quite elderly and ended up spending most of the week with him.
Saw John Hannah on our beach when he was filming Rebus
I waved to HM when she visited our station ?.
I went to school with Anna Calder Marshall, mother of Tom Burke
....clutching at straws here grin

Callistemon Thu 19-Nov-20 18:12:57

I should have made my link with Mrs Corbyn more tenuous - she never taught me.

I saw Windsor Davies walking into Kingston once, he waved at everyone and said Good Morning to me.

Callistemon Thu 19-Nov-20 18:14:02

My DH went to school with Stephen Hawking.
His parents lived near me but I didn't know them. (not your DH, Marmight grin)

Juliet27 Thu 19-Nov-20 18:15:27

I watched Virginia Wade playing tennis when she was in the sixth form at school
