Hello All
I'm often awake in the small hours,
for a variety of reasons which I'm sure that many are familiar with.
So I'm starting this thread for anyone in the same position.
We can chat, share our 3am worries, whatever.
If you fancy popping on for whatever reason, here is the thread for all Night Owls moon
See you later x

Silverlining I've had zoplicone in the past.
I remember it's such a lovely feeling when you just drift off...
I'm not surprised GPs are so strict with them.

MiniMoon Tue 01-Dec-20 02:28:04

I'm still awake Fanny. No acid reflux tonight, just a busy brain!
I seem to have a good night's sleep every other night. Last night great, up at 8 am yesterday, washing on by 9. Outdoor Christmas lights put up.
I ought to be tired, but no. I just keep thinking about random things. I wish I could switch off like DH does. He has his own room so I don't disturb him.
Right, well I'll try again.
I may well be back.

mokryna Tue 01-Dec-20 02:35:23

Snap and new to this posting.BBbevan I hope you have had a couple of hours good sleep before waking up.

BBbevan Tue 01-Dec-20 02:35:36

There is an owl hooting outside. I will listen to that and perhaps drift off.

FannyCornforth Tue 01-Dec-20 02:36:01

Hello moon and BB
I don't know how DH and I managed before we had different rooms.
I must have driven him up the wall!

FannyCornforth Tue 01-Dec-20 02:38:57

I love hearing owls.
Throughout my childhood and early adulthood we had pet Tawny Owls.
Their twitting and wooing reminds me of being tucked up in bed as a girl.
The male owl twits and the female woos in response.moon

Hello Kim

Kim19 Tue 01-Dec-20 03:13:44

Hello Fanny. Didn't know that about owls. Thanks. Thought they all did both sounds. No end to my ignorance but great to discover. Mmmmm.....

BBbevan Tue 01-Dec-20 06:03:58

mokryna. I always go to sleep easily , and have about 4 hours. Then it’s wake, doze, wake ,dose ‘til about six . I am used to it now.

grandMattie Tue 01-Dec-20 06:07:12

Ditto, BB! I try to have a nap after lunch. It keeps me going.
I’m used to it too, but I could scream when I’m told I should sleep more to avoid dementia!

cornergran Tue 01-Dec-20 06:58:59

Morning Night Owls. 7 hours sleep for me. Can’t believe it. smile. Feel quite guilty telling you that. Yes, Zopiclone works but there’s a real need for care with it. I have had an annual prescription for 12 of the the lowest dose for many years now. Usually there are a couple left at the end of the year. Knowing it’s there can be as helpful as actually taking it I think. It was suggested I take it for 3 nights in a row to re-establish a sleep pattern after a particularly difficult run of no or little sleep. CFS and fibromyalgia triggered my sleep issues over 30 years ago, osteoarthritis pain and spinal degeneration added to the mix for the last 10 years. Much easier to manage now I’m retired and can easily adjust the day according to pain and energy levels. I’m pretty sure people who sleep well have no idea how draining disturbed nights can be. Nap if you need to Night Owls, hope the day is as good as it can be.

Funny you should say that about the tree. We thought we’d just put a wreath on the door and an illuminated garland (M&S) on the mantle, together with some little illuminated houses this year. Looks pretty and less work.
?The challenge worked last night. I’ve just woken up . Hope everyone else has slept well.

silverlining48 Tue 01-Dec-20 07:52:51

I have not had a zopiclone for many months as I tend to save them but notice they expire 2021 so will use a bit more freely, but carefully.
Slept well but still woke at 5 ( must be habit).
I might have another tonight to get into a better routine.
All any of us want us a decent night sleep, why is it so hard.
I hope you have had a good enough night everyone.

FannyCornforth Tue 01-Dec-20 22:38:58

Bumping for any Night Owls searching for a friendly tree in which to perch.
Hope that everyone has a restful and peaceful night moon

silverlining48 Tue 01-Dec-20 22:53:58

Hope you sleep ok Fanny.

silverlining48 Tue 01-Dec-20 22:56:37

I am tucked in with a phenerghan hoping to sleep past 5 without too many interruptions through the night.

Mollygo Wed 02-Dec-20 00:26:02

Goodnight all. Have to get up for work tomorrow so I’m hoping for a good sleep.

Hetty58 Wed 02-Dec-20 00:30:44

I had an afternoon nap so I'm awake and raring to go. There's not a lot to do at half past midnight, though, without disturbing others. So it's admin or knitting and watching TV. Then another midnight snack. If I'm awake, I do get hungry!

Coolgran65 Wed 02-Dec-20 01:17:43

I have zopiclone 7.5mg in my drawer but don’t take them. I’ve tried all of the different sleeping aids without success.
I suffer from severe RLS but even when the symptoms are controlled with medication I can’t sleep. I am told that the insomnia that troubles RLS sufferers is different from ‘normal’ insomnia

Happily I am an avid reader getting through at least two books each week just reading at nighttime. And I must say that I thoroughly enjoy my big bowl of Frosties with ice cold milk at around 4am .... with my Kindle propped up in front of me.

Sleep well if you can zzzzzz

Redhead56 Wed 02-Dec-20 01:42:02

I have been really busy today and feeling tired all night but keeping awake so I can at least get some sleep. Watching gogglebox and reaction to latest Government speech on new rules and tiers. I feel as if I am going in circles with the illogical “do this but don’t do this rules” Totally ridiculous and difficult to comprehend rules the government are making up as they go along. Goodnight.

Hi all.
This is the time I am usually deciding to try to sleep but tonight and also last night I have already been to sleep and just woken up.
This is how I used to be before by my hip op.
I think I am now getting back to normal in most ways.
I don’t have a sleep during the day so am ready at night, however sleeping through has eluded me for years.

It was very cold yesterday, frost lasted till mid morning, my GD has gone back to work after working from home for 8 months so we have adjusted the CH to come on much earlier as she is getting up at 6:30/7am .
I am waking up to a very warm house
I expect we have months of this now.
Try to doze off everyone, not too many sleeps now until FC comes.

cornergran Wed 02-Dec-20 03:32:28

Hello Night Owls. There I was sleeping soundly when cramp woke me, annoying for sure as now I’m wide awake. Think I’ll head for the kettle, we live in a bungalow so not far to go. Mr C sleeps through just about everything so rarely wake him. There will be tea soon if anyone wants some.

FannyCornforth Wed 02-Dec-20 03:42:45

Ann I thought that you meant me for a very confused nano-second tchsmile
Good to hear that you feel that you're
slowly getting back to normal.
(Isn't it great that we don't seem to hear that horrid phrase 'new normal' anymore?)
Coolgran should be tucking into her frosties around now...

Had a most perculiar and unpleasant experience yesterday evening.
DH and I were watching TV, I was sitting very close to the front window. Suddenly there was a man banging his fists on the window, face right against the glass. He was bright red, shouting and literally frothing at the mouth! My first reaction was that he'd been stabbed.
I then realised it was a man who lives opposite.
I grabbed the phone, dialled 999 and opened the front door to find out what on earth was going in. I could hardly hear the person on the phone to give details. The man was really shouting, flailing about and banging his fists on our car.
Apparently he was choking- another neighbour came out and slapped his back and something flew out of his mouth.
By now quite a few neighbours were gathered. Choking man quickly gains his composure (sort of) and is quite indignant confused Doesn't want to give his surname or dob ('What's the point?')
I cancel the ambulance ( the phone lady was lovely) and quickly go back inside and shut the door on the whole business.
It was so odd. I know that he has had lots of health 'scares' before. Coming to our house and saying that he's had strokes etc. Not a week goes by without an ambulance outside his house. I'm wondering if he has Munchausen's?
There wasn't much that I could do because I had to keep him well away from DH and me (germs etc) as DH is incredibly frail at the moment.

So. That's my story for today.
