Hello All
I'm often awake in the small hours,
for a variety of reasons which I'm sure that many are familiar with.
So I'm starting this thread for anyone in the same position.
We can chat, share our 3am worries, whatever.
If you fancy popping on for whatever reason, here is the thread for all Night Owls moon
See you later x

I love candles. Woodwick (the ones with the crackling wick) are my current favourites - especially the big ellipse ones.

Nanderin Wed 16-Dec-20 08:18:56

Hi everyone do any of you do jigsaw puzzles. I always do Ravensburg but the last one I got I haven't been able to finish as the strong smell of ink gave me a bad headache like migraine. Can anyone suggest a make that doesn't smell.

Marilla Wed 16-Dec-20 09:51:16

Fanny please don’t apologise. You take the time to reply to everyone and can’t be expected to remember all our woes!

Tramadol is exactly the type of drug I would much prefer.
Do you take it three times a day or when required?
I take slow release ‘Oxycodone’ and it doesn’t really address the pain effectively.

My call with the consultant is on Monday. ?

FannyCornforth Wed 16-Dec-20 10:00:35

Marilla At the moment I'm trying various things. As of this week I'm taking 2 X 50mg about 4am and then having a couple of hours sleep because they do make you drowsy.
The pain numbing effect then seem to last about 12 hours. I'm obviously very pleased with that.
I think that if I were to have another one midday I might be up to going for a short walk!
I haven't attempted a walk since April (with disastrous consequences).
As soon as DH is okay to go out (a month or so I should think) I will give it a go.
The poor dog hasn't been out for a walk for over a month!
Thank you for your kind words tchsmile

Mollygo Wed 16-Dec-20 10:52:12

Nanderin I started noticing the smell from thinks like jigsaws that have been wrapped in polythene. We have a 1000 piece one on the go now by Clementoni (with 5 cupcakes on a white background) which I left open on the table overnight before starting it. That seems to help with the smell.
Mostly though I do puzzles on my iPad. Not so good socially but you never lose pieces.

Mollygo Wed 16-Dec-20 10:52:37

Things not thinks!

Rufus2 Wed 16-Dec-20 10:56:38

he has the air of a troublemaker! tchgrin
Fanny C. Oh dear! Talk about giving a dog a bad name! Just as well I'm a good-natured breed! tchhmm
I imagine you're an astute business lady so I wondered if you'd considered other options before buying your stair-lift!?
Such as a Stiltz Homelift as advertised regularly in "The Oldie" mag. showing a lift that's "Elegant, practical and discreet" Free-standing, close to a power point.
Just a thought, but an elderly lady in Windsor might be interested.
Btw. One person's "light lunch" can mean many things! tchwink
Bon Appetite

FannyCornforth Wed 16-Dec-20 11:19:38

Ooh no!
I've just googled the Homelift! tchshock
I don't have the room for that!
I don't know where it would go from and to that would be practical...
I also wanted a nice, quick solution.
My beloved stair lift was fitted in just one hour and twenty minutes.

'An astute business lady' not quite Rufus! tchgrin

Hi Mollygo the puzzle that's caused my headache was called the cake shed. I have done countless ravensbuger and have been okay this one just really strong smell.

GardenerGran Thu 17-Dec-20 00:03:20

I like Ravensburger jigsaws, can’t say I’ve ever noticed a smell Nanderin. I’ve just started a 1000 piece one of just loads of books on shelves, Not the nicest of pictures but it’s something to keep me occupied. I’ve just finished one of Whitby but a different make, nearly drove me mad so easy to put the wrong pieces in the wrong place. Must get to sleep, childcare bubble duties tomorrow, will need to be on the ball!

Marilla Thu 17-Dec-20 00:26:06

Enjoy your childcare duties Gardnergran!
Grandchildren are just a delight.
What ages are your grandchildren?
Without meaning to sound too twee, being a granny has brought out the best in me!

cornergran Thu 17-Dec-20 01:42:34

Hello Night Owls. Looks like one of my no sleep nights has come around. Wish I understood the ‘why’ of it, no point giving myself a hard time so I’ll relax and I think this time find something gentle to watch. If I get tired I’ll just go to sleep and miss the end smile. Hope everyone will sleep well tonight.

MiniMoon Thu 17-Dec-20 02:20:52

Well, I'm awake tonight. I can't sleep because of acid reflux and a persistent itchy spot on my ankle bone.
We had an early Christmas dinner with DS and DiL as we won't see them until well into the New Year. I ate stuffing and bread sauce. I knew it was a mistake, but you know what it's like.
I will wait for half an hour before lying down again, I've taken antacids. Wish me luck.

Marilla Thu 17-Dec-20 02:34:36

Hello, I can’t sleep either! Keep nodding off and waking with a jolt. Have you found something to watch Cornergran?

How lovely to have had a Christmas Dinner Minimoon!
I love bread sauce and every Christmas, I think, we must have it more often. But never do.

Mistymoocake Thu 17-Dec-20 02:41:47

Hi everyone I’m well awake tonight too much caffine i think I had two hours of sleep now wide awake. Keep thinking of work but dh will think someone has broken in if I move

Mistymoocake Thu 17-Dec-20 02:55:01

I haven’t had Christmas dinner for three years as dh has ulcerated colitis and can only have 30 different foods and
As l Work from home no office meals. He always says I should cook what ever I want but I tend to stick to things he did not eat anyway. Have all the other Christmas things and decks but not this year just could not muster up the energy to put them up

Plum111 Thu 17-Dec-20 02:58:49

Hello all, another one awake! Back problems are the cause, usually sorted with pain relief, but just not working tonight! Plus, having spent a lot of time on line trying to find out where a parcel I sent with others ( all delivered) has disappeared to, I'm a bit disenchanted with Royal Mail at the moment! What a brilliant thread, didn't realise so many lovely people are night owls! Off for a walk to stretch the old back, and have a cup of tea,I'll be back !

Marilla Thu 17-Dec-20 03:02:29

I think Fanny must be having a well deserved few hours sleep.

Mollygo Thu 17-Dec-20 03:20:44

It’s one of those nights. There’s no obvious reason why I can’t sleep tonight, I just haven’t dozed off. Even a familiar audio book hasn’t worked.
Mistymoocake that must be really limiting, just 30 different foods. I can’t imagine how that works. At least I only have to watch the sugar content in DH’s meals.
Bless him he just woke up, noticed I was awake and decided to make a cuppa.
Plum111 my problem with Royal Mail is that if I miss a delivery it takes 20 mins on line and a 2day wait for redelivery because there’s no pick up allowed. I hope you find your missing parcel.

Nannytopsy Thu 17-Dec-20 03:34:40

Hello everyone! I made the mistake of coming to bed early and now I am wide awake. Hi Marilla! We were going to meet up when all this kicked off - perhaps in the Spring?

Rufus2 Thu 17-Dec-20 03:48:54

Another hot day; 33C at 2.45pm, so just a light lunch again!
Pea and Ham soup
Beef rissoles & sweet chilli sauce
Canned sliced pears in juice
Ice cream.
Coffee

Well, I was invited to discuss my lunch! tchgrin

Taichinan Thu 17-Dec-20 03:56:11

Hi folks, I'm awake too! Isn't it fun! Or perhaps not. Can itching be pain, I wonder? It's so debilitating. I did have an hour or so's sleep when I first came to bed but then the itching on my arms flared up again. They're now lathered in a 'soothing' cream and I've taken some Neurofen, but nothing seems to be working tonight.
Sorry for the moan.

BBbevan Thu 17-Dec-20 04:42:25

I don't pop in often but I have been awake for ages tonight. For no particular reason. Though I think perhaps the Ovid situation in Wales and the prospect of another lockdown after Christmas is making me a bit sad. I was weepy yesterday, which is not like me at all

BBbevan Thu 17-Dec-20 04:43:13

covid situation

FannyCornforth Thu 17-Dec-20 06:25:58

Marilla

I think Fanny must be having a well deserved few hours sleep.

Hello!
I did, yes! Slept right through!
I did take two tramadol though...

BBbevan I think it (^the situation^) takes us all a bit like that. You can be plodding along like a good un, and then it all gets a bit much. tchsad
I must say, I often tend to feel much better after a good cry. It seems to have a tranquilizing effect.

Itching is a damn menace. You don't hear it discussed at all. Another one of those womens' things I suppose.tchenvy

I've only vaguely heard the heard the news this morning, but I take it things are looking grim.
I wonder how long Johnson is going to cling to his Christmas madness for?
