So I'm starting this thread for anyone in the same position.
We can chat, share our 3am worries, whatever.
If you fancy popping on for whatever reason, here is the thread for all Night Owls moon
See you later x

Taichinan never feel that you have to apologise for 'moaning' here!
I hope that you got some relief.
I used to get it so bad that it would make me squeal and physically jump in the air when I was in bed!

FannyCornforth Thu 17-Dec-20 06:31:02

Rufus- you were invited to discuss your lunch (not by me, I must add tchsmile) but feel free to discuss anything else too!

Marilla Thu 17-Dec-20 07:34:48

Hello Nannytopsy We must meet up in the spring!
I hope you eventually got back to sleep!

I don’t know what is going on with my sciatica, but the last two days/nights the pain has got worse. I’m becoming such a bore.

FannyCornforth Thu 17-Dec-20 07:38:23

'Morning Marilla
When did you last speak to your GP?
Are they good?
I'm sorry that you're having such a tough time - and you are not a bore! flowers

FannyCornforth Thu 17-Dec-20 07:39:25

I think that you need to get in touch with them, you could be doing some damage.

Kim19 Thu 17-Dec-20 07:47:26

Morning Fanny et al. Just lying here watching all the chats coming in. So sad that most of them are pain/discomfort related. Hope we all have the best day we can.

Marilla Thu 17-Dec-20 09:26:30

Hello Fanny I am only putting up with the pain over the next few days as I speak to the consultant on Monday. I thought he might suggest different medication.

The problem is that at our surgery, it’s quite difficult to establish a relationship with a specific GP and each GP seems to have varying views on pain relief! One has strong beliefs in paracetamol/iboprfen to another who thinks opioids are the way forward. I know which camp I belong to! ?

FannyCornforth Thu 17-Dec-20 10:23:47

How funny - our GP surgery is exactly like that!
One GP has even given me morphine a couple of times ( I've still got an unopened bottle which I'm saving for an emergency / special occasion!)
The good thing though, is that you can usually request which GP you see / talk to.
It's not great that you don't have a regular GP. I do hope that you have a productive and successful appointment with the consultant.

Fanny.C. Hope you've not had a hard day's night: don't look now, but I think you've got an impersonator amongst us.
Don't panic; I'll sort it! tchgrin
(Too cryptic?)
I thought the Homelift video was very professional, so much so that I'm tempted to sell up and buy a 2-storey or even 3-storey with attic/loft. Think of the fun whizzing up and down.
Btw I won't bore you with my reakfast menus; alternating Cormflakes/CoCoPops. with the occasional piece of toast thrown in. tchhmm

Rufus tchconfused No... no I
idea...
Something to do with The Beatles?
Help!

FannyCornforth Thu 17-Dec-20 14:03:10

No idea, that was a mistype, not a cryptic message to you!

FannyCornforth Thu 17-Dec-20 19:02:54

Oh dear Rufus, did I actually ask you to discuss your lunch here?
I think that I may have...
Anyway. Apologies. As you were. tchsmile

Rufus2 Fri 18-Dec-20 01:00:35

I think that I may have
Fanny C.
Yes you did! I've got it in writing in case this goes to Court. tchgrin
In any case, you can relax! I won't be issuing proceedings because you're The Boss and I'm relieved that you've confirmed I've not gone "Ga-Ga" (yet!)
I'll steer clear of lunch menus because they don't appear to have gone down well. so to speak! tchhmm

Oh dear; where are my manners!?
Apologies accepted, Thank you! tchblush

Nana3 Fri 18-Dec-20 01:11:17

Felt sleepy but it didn't last. Going to read for a bit now and hoping sleep will follow. Hope night owls have a good night ?

Georgesgran Fri 18-Dec-20 02:45:42

I’ve got got into bed and it’s absolutely freezing! I’ve had the windows open all day as we’re now supposed to do. I could go back downstairs and fill my hot water bottle, but I’d have to unset the alarm system, boil the kettle which is directly under DH’s bed, then reset the alarm - any/all of that could disturb him, so I’ll just try and lie still and hope I can generate some warmth.
Hope other NOs have a decent rest.

Marilla Fri 18-Dec-20 03:23:58

Hello Nigh Owls!

What are you reading*Nana3*? I’m reading Shuggie Bain. It took a couple of chapters to settle into the story. But I’m now finding it to be a great read.

Georgesgran you are a much better person than I am. I’m afraid putting up with being in a freezing bed isn’t an option.
I would have to heat my hottie!

Marilla Fri 18-Dec-20 03:25:25

Please allow the late hour as an excuse for my dreadful typing!

BBbevan Fri 18-Dec-20 05:47:26

Gosh straight through last night with just one trip to the loo. I wonder why ?.

Granny23 Fri 18-Dec-20 06:13:37

There are other people wakening and ready to face the day, while I have yet to sleep at all. Don't understand why I have suffered Restless Legs (and 1 arm) tonight as I took my Pramepexil 1/2 an hour before bed and another dose at back of 3.00 to no avail. Haven't had a night like this for months. Do hope it is a one off.

Nana3 Fri 18-Dec-20 09:35:40

Marilla I'm reading 'The floating brothel' shock by Sian Rees and passed on by a friend who highly recommended it. I'm not impressed so far but not finished chapter 1 yet. Maybe like you have with 'Shuggie Bain' I'll get into it! I've not read that one.

FannyCornforth Fri 18-Dec-20 09:47:04

Good morning all!
Looks like it was a mixed bag last night.
I slept right through again. I took Amitriptyline last night, which I shouldn't have as I've been taking tramadol and you are definitely not supposed to take them together...
But I had the worst pain in my leg yesterday than I've had for months - awful shooting, stabbing electronic shock pains.
I realized that it may have been because I hadn't taken the amitriptyline.
Anyway, sorry, I'm waffling.
Hope everyone is okay and has a good day.
Rufus - Despite everything I've said, I actually quite enjoyed your lunch menus, and I know that Kim definitely liked the more unusual ones!

FannyCornforth Fri 18-Dec-20 09:52:05

Marillaand Nana3, your book talk has reminder me of my Nan, she has to finish a book no matter what.

Many a time she has said 'Oh I'm so glad that I've finished that, it was the biggest load of rubbish!'

If I don't enjoy even the first page and usually don't bother carrying on.

('The Floating Brothel'! - pass the smelling salts! tchshock)

Marilla Fri 18-Dec-20 09:56:05

You do have my sympathy Fanny. Those shooting, stabbing and electronic pains are dreadful.

Granny23 are you able to relax and have a good, long nap during the day?

Rufus2 Sat 19-Dec-20 03:39:15

Wakey, wakey Night Owls!
I haven't decided on lunch yet, so it's safe to come out from under the Doona. tchgrin
