Hello All
I'm often awake in the small hours,
for a variety of reasons which I'm sure that many are familiar with.
So I'm starting this thread for anyone in the same position.
We can chat, share our 3am worries, whatever.
If you fancy popping on for whatever reason, here is the thread for all Night Owls moon
See you later x

Hello. Still awake here (just posted on a flu jab thread). I’ve had a busy day but sleep is yet to come!

MiniMoon Fri 27-Nov-20 00:55:24

Hello there Taichinan. I'm awake.
I tried to go to sleep at 11:30, but by half past midnight the dreaded reflux struck. Why? I don't know as I haven't eaten any of the stuff that usually triggers it.
If course, I have no Rennies or Gaviscon left, so I've been into the kitchen for bicarbonate of soda mixed in honey, it's more palatable that way.
I'm sitting up now waiting until the volcanic activity stops, then I might manage some sleep.
Goodnight.

Hello Taichinan. I'm here.
I've just wrapped my Ebay stuff up to post tomorrow.
Just having a quick browse on Gransnet then going on Amazon and Ebay to look for some cards.
I'll be up at least until 2.30am. I usually fall asleep around 4.30 ish. I'll be turning things around in my head and wondering if penguins have knee-caps. grin

Hello Night Owls. Nobody has posted yet tonight. Maybe I'm too early? I'm just thinking about tidying up and going up to bed, but I'm not really feeling sleepy. It'll be warmer in bed though and there's a good book waiting. I'll pop back later and see who else is about.

Nanderin Thu 26-Nov-20 23:11:22

Hi night owls I've just come to bed I will read my book see what happens. I will probably see you all later.?

Nanderin Thu 26-Nov-20 22:36:30

I think that too if I get up it's cold so I just read or go on my phone hanging over the side of my bed as not to wake hubby withe the light from the phone.

A friend of mine goes to bed at what I would call an ordinary time - between 10 and 11pm. He sleeps without much trouble until the small hours and then wakes and can't get back to sleep. He will get up and iron or do other things about 5am and have a cup of tea, and then finally returns to bed and sleeps solidly till about 9am which he says is his 'best sleep'.
Would getting up in the middle of the night and doing things be better for others, rather than lying in bed very restless and worrying?

Mollygo Thu 26-Nov-20 06:05:38

Hi Nanderin it’s been a long night for you. The tea worked, but I’m awake again. I think I’ll listen to an audio book now, but not the one I listened to on the trip to and from work as it made me laugh, and that would wake DH.

I am not a night owl but I live on the opposite side of the world from the UK, so most of my posts appear in what seems like the middle of the night for many gransnetters. However, I don't post very often.

Nanderin Thu 26-Nov-20 04:36:17

Hi cornergran I'm still here I'm not getting up as it's too cold and my heating off .

Nanderin Thu 26-Nov-20 04:33:04

Hi

Good evening/morning owlets!

I also like audiobooks, but have realized that the narrator makes a huge difference. Did you know there are awards for book narrating, the Oscars of readers if you will?

I enjoyed the narrator of The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie so much that I looked her up and found out she has been awarded for her skills.

Hope everyone nods off... my best sleep is usually after 5 am.

Hello Night Owls. FannyCornforth the picture of a brain in a glass at the side of the bed is the best thing I've heard for some time. smile smile

I don't have insomnia as such, as I sleep, just too early in the evening. This is fairly new (last six months) so maybe C19 related. Is it new for anyone else?

fiorentina51 Thu 26-Nov-20 03:46:22

Hello, I'm doing my usual 2 hours of sleep, 1 hour of lying awake then finally getting up and making a cup of tea. ?
Fortunately, I don't have to be up for work etc but sleeping through the night would be bliss. It does happen sometimes.....just not often enough!

Hello everyone. Ive had my half hour of sleep and have been faffing around since midnight ?. To add to my troubles, the security light at the back of the house came on and won’t go off, lighting up the bedroom like Blackpool tower. Ive been outside and given it a jiggle, to no avail and there doesn’t appear to be an off switch anywhere. Its icy cold out there and spooky fiddling about in the shed ?. I’m now back in bed drinking Green & Blacks hot choc which I’m sure is doing me no good at all, but it is very yummy.

Mollygo Thu 26-Nov-20 03:18:23

Hi Nanderin.
Hope the tea works for you Cornergran.
I decided to write cards later on this morning. Thought about doing them now, but it’s a bit chilly. If the tea works, it’ll hopefully be 7am before I’m awake next.

Greenfinch Thu 26-Nov-20 03:14:43

Don't forget me with the tea ! Tablet running out of charge so will have to sign off as charger is downstairs.???

cornergran Thu 26-Nov-20 03:02:57

Hi Molly. Snap with the tea smile.

cornergran Thu 26-Nov-20 03:02:28

Hi Nanderin. Just wandered in. Been lying listening to music for a couple of hours, sleep elusive as I hurt. Kettles in, I like my cup of tea, then hopefully I’ll get some sleep. Mr C sleeps for the world, I’m lucky as I don’t disturb him sat up with the iPad.

Mollygo Thu 26-Nov-20 03:00:34

I’m just off to make a cup of tea. Funny how it’s got caffeine in, but sometimes works to send you off to sleep in the middle of the night.

Nanderin Thu 26-Nov-20 02:51:33

Hi anyone here

Greenfinch Thu 26-Nov-20 02:40:39

Hi Night Owls. Awake again! Another night of not sleeping.I wish I could just switch off but my mind and thoughts just won't settle down and I know I have to be up at 6.I do usually sleep better at the weekend but not always.Perhaps I should go to bed later. Is anyone making a cup of tea? I could do with the company but I am too lazy to get out of bed. Hope you can soon nod off.

My main achievement today was sorting out a fraudulent Transaction on my credit card.
