I'm often awake in the small hours,
for a variety of reasons which I'm sure that many are familiar with.
So I'm starting this thread for anyone in the same position.
We can chat, share our 3am worries, whatever.
If you fancy popping on for whatever reason, here is the thread for all Night Owls moon
See you later x

I’ve been wakeful for several night recently, but tonight I’ve barely slept at all. I’ve had a cup of tea and a nocturnal wander through the house, but as soon as I lie down my mind starts whizzing again. I’m working today, so no doubt the phone will start to ring at a minute after nine and I shall be like a zombie.

I’ve had a very troubling situation to deal with in the past few days and normally I would be able to move on, but I can’t seem able to just yet. Ho hum - I’ll try and get forty winks before the alarm goes.

Hope you got your 40 winks GA. The last time I looked at the clock it was 5. I hate sleeping from then. I feel totally drained & hungover. Sooo many thoughts & worries rushing through my brain. Youngest DD & family in Devon are isolating after close contact with 3x positives. Just worried about the continuing situation which is unlike me as I usually waft through life and take things as they happen ?

Good evening all - a very quiet night on the site, so thought I would post to keep the thread in the first active list - struggled to find it tonight.
Things not good with DH at Hospital yesterday. Treatment postponed from last week still not able to go ahead. No-one available for any update or information, so DH will get a Telephone call later today.
Now the new lockdown too - he’ll be in the very vulnerable group for the vaccine and he’s over 70 - I’m neither but wonder if I’d get it as a Carer?
Not too bothered - I’ll gladly await my turn.

Might pop back later to see who’s around.

MissAdventure Tue 05-Jan-21 03:02:05

I'm around, as I always am, every blooming night.
I have to be up in 3 hours for a long work day. sad

The people I go to will think Sid James has come to call when they see all my wrinkles.

MissAdventure Tue 05-Jan-21 03:08:07

Sorry, hello georgesgran.
I do hope your husband gets his treatment.
thanks

I'm going to try and sleep, but I just can't get comfortable until just before it's time to get up!

Zzzzzzzzzzzz......

FannyCornforth Tue 05-Jan-21 03:37:25

Hello Everyone moon
Just woken up. Back in a mo.
I'll do tonight's installment of my ? Owl Story too.

FannyCornforth Tue 05-Jan-21 03:39:23

MissAI hope that you are now sound asleep...it's awful when you've got a long day ahead

hollysteers Tue 05-Jan-21 03:43:22

Good evening everyone. Sorry about your worry about your DH Georgesgran especially with the extra bother of lockdown.
One of the reasons I’m awake also relates to the new lockdown. The days ahead look bleak, so stayed up late watching films about Callas and Black Narcissus, which I found rather slow, but might read some books by the author Rumer Godden, she sounds interesting.
I feel for you MissAdventure with so little sleep. ??

MissAdventure Tue 05-Jan-21 04:01:05

Back again.
My bed is just too lumpy, and now I feel a bit hungry, and there isn't anything much to eat.

FannyCornforth Tue 05-Jan-21 04:03:14

Hello Hollyand George'sgran
GG sorry to hear about your husband. I've been thinking that other treatments will be on hold again.
My biggest worry at the moment is my DH catching something on top of what he's got going on at the moment. He just wouldn't be able to cope sad I'm ringing the doctor today to see if there's anything that they can give him for his lungs.
GG I'm in the same boat as you vaccine wise. I've read a bit about it and also heard bits on the radio, and as far as I can make out, if you live with someone ECV you are not further up the list, as it were. But as a carer, I don't think that they have considered that yet. But seeing as it doesn't look like they've given educational staff any thought yet, I'm not holding my breath.
Holly I think that I've got Godden's autobiography somewhere, but I haven't read it (no surprise there blush)

Hello all, I've been re watching part of a BBC series I used to enjoy. Lovely! Had to smile at the reference to Sid James here. His brow always looked like rumpled but thick leather. Very memorable. Did a last minute shop of items I was low on in the essentials line so that's me (and the freezer) as ready for lockdown as I can be. Very icy underfoot so staying in won't be too much of a hardship. However, if I'm lucky enough to be called for a jab then skis it will be!! Yep I'm that keen (and ancient!)

Nanna58 Tue 05-Jan-21 05:20:15

Awake as am worrying if lockdown means no kitchen which was due to be fitted on Mon 11th, will ring later. Hope it can as no cupboards sink taps cooker etc since beginning of September, and can’t even eat out now! Due to husbands Alzheimer’s all arrangements for this and the repair of collapsed floor that necessitated kitchen down to me and have found it stressful. Will have a biscuit, that I have got!!!!

FannyCornforth Tue 05-Jan-21 05:25:53

Hi Kim oh, don't call yourself ancient! I'm a bit clueless about how the vaccinations thing works. Does your GP surgery call you? I suppose I can ask mine when I call her. I'm mulling over going to sleep prior to calling at 8am or just staying awake.
I'm doing my Ocado order today. I'll ask my (lovely) neighbours if they want anything, but I know they will say no. MrNeighbour (80) still goes to the supermarket. It drives me mad! You'd think that after seeing what has happened to DH they'd be less inclined to go traipsing round Asda sad I think that even when some people see 'it' really close up, they still think that it can't happen to them.
What TV program were you watching Kim? I'm always nosy about these things!
I saw that Hazell was on TPTV today - I'd like to see that, I remember my aunty was a fan and I've find memories of watching it with her.
I'll must get around to my Owl Story, I think it might be a short episode today!

FannyCornforth Tue 05-Jan-21 05:29:20

Oh no Nanna58 that sounds stressful! I hate having work done at home. I hope that you get a favourable response.

Nanna58 Tue 05-Jan-21 05:35:13

It’s been like extended camping! Thanks FannyC

Kim19 Tue 05-Jan-21 05:35:19

Hi Fanny. My assumption is that my local clinic will give me a telephone call. I was revisiting a series called Last Tango in Halifax which I particularly enjoyed. Writer was Sally Wainwright and I tend to enjoy most of her stuff. She certainly attracts an extremely good cast. I see we're up to page 37 here. Am I correct in thinking it stops (officially) at 40?

FannyCornforth Tue 05-Jan-21 05:40:19

Owl Story episode 2.
I thought that I should mention here that the owlets were very, very young, just so that you can picture them.. Scruffy white feathers and huge beaks, at that 'fugly' stage.
The female they named Blodwyn as it was a nice traditional Welsh name, and the male was called Dodo.
I've got some lovely black and white photos of my mom and her sister holding them, all mini skirts and backcombed hair (mom and aunty, not the owls).
Anyway, so Mom and Dad met with the Birds of Prey keeper at Dudley Zoo to see where the owls would be living.
They weren't all that impressed and decided that they could look after them better themselves. They had to get permission which the keeper arranged.
So my dad built them a beautiful aviary in the garden. It was all landscaped with rockeries and mature trees and shrubs.

FannyCornforth Tue 05-Jan-21 05:51:02

Re pages, yes, we've only got about 80 more posts and we'll be onto thread 2! smile
I've not seen Last Tango. I think that I will have a look at that, I'm always on the lookout for things that DH and I will both like. I can't deal with anything challenging at all at the moment. It needs to be comforting and warm.
Have you seen Boomers?
I highly recommend it, it's hilarious and a fabulous cast. I think it's on Netflix and Britbox.
Nanna58I can definitely empathise with your kitchen woes.
I lived with a kitchen extension being built for six years. Seriously envy
DH was a builder (and a very good one) before he retired, so he would never let anyone else do anything building wise, but then never had the time or inclination to do it himself either hmm

Nanna58 Tue 05-Jan-21 06:07:57

As my Nan used to say “ a cobblers children are the worst shod!”?

Kim19 Tue 05-Jan-21 06:17:10

That's very true, Nanna.. My husband was an electrician and we were the only house without a front door light. All the parts were in his shed awaiting fitting!!

Hello, nightowls.

I'm hoping for an "early" night tonight.
Just having a cuppa before I drift off (that is the plan, anyway)

Rosie51 Wed 06-Jan-21 01:14:20

I'm having a "nightcap" of a whisky and crossing my fingers...... sorry not read the thread, just come upon it. I either sleep like the dead or toss and turn all night! What can be guaranteed is come 6, 7 or 8am and I can sleep for England !!

MissAdventure Wed 06-Jan-21 01:16:36

Isn't that annoying?
My bed feels like the most wonderful place on earth when it's time to get out of it.

Rosie51 Wed 06-Jan-21 01:24:26

Miss Adventure I feel your pain! I give thanks that I no longer set an alarm, but still leave my bed much sooner than I might, given no social conventions.
