Good morning all from a cold Glasgow, its only 2° here, but a least its dry.
Sara and Scentia, I'm so sorry to hear about your daughters. No matter what age we are, we still need our mums, when we are needing support.
First of all, an apology from me. I think someone on this thread sent me a PM yesterday, but I must have accidently deleted it. If it was you and you think I'm being rude, I'm so sorry, not rude but dighted (a good old Scots word meaning daft!).
I have been overwhelmed by the kindness on here and a special thank you to the lurkers, why don't you give posting on this lovely thread a go!!
Please be very careful Mick, I received yet another letter from the shielding folk ? yesterday, advising me not to go on public transport for any reason at all, as it is too risky. I would imagine if it's opening day, Sainsburys will be extremely busy.
The letter said if I had to go to the shops, it must be only at the quietest times.
Although we have an online delivery each week, yesterday we needed bread and a couple of things we couldn't get from Tesco online.
We have a difficulty because we live on the border of three lockdown LAs and most of the supermarkets are in the other areas and we aren't allowed to travel between areas. However, we do have a small Asda, so foolishly I begged and begged DH to let me come with him, as I was so fed up.
Oh it was a big mistake, a very big mistake.
The underground car park was empty, initially a good sign. It was actually quite busy inside, mainly with elderly ladies, standing, exercising no social distancing, chatting in the aisles, with masks only half covering their mouths and certainly not their nose. I could feel myself becoming very anxious and kept doing detours to avoid them. We were doing OK until we got to the checkout. We didn't have much and it had been suggested that if I did go out, I always use the self service one. I thought we would be in and out in no time.
Unfortunately I picked the most unreliable one in the store. ?
It kept crashing and each time an assistant ( with no mask, nor possessing any concept of the meaning of social distancing) ) had to eventually come and help at least five times.
DH was fuming and I was so annoyed at myself for going in the first place and putting myself at risk. I stupidly just wanted a change of scene, as I haven't left the house in weeks and was feeling so low.
Who would have guessed that shopaholic MD would hate going shopping. ?
Well we had a bit of a drama yesterday. My trusty old tablet had eventually failed ? and needed to go to the tablet graveyard.
I got a new one a year ago, but dislike it and kept reverting to my old one.
As it kept refusing to accept my pin, I have had to reset it to factory settings on a number of occasions.
The online gurus state that this particular model only allows this twice and usually it then becomes unusable.
However I have managed to get it working again at least seven times healing hands and all that.
With my IT coordinator hat on, I asked DH to destroy it with a hammer, so that any secure information would be inaccessible. I thought as usual, he would just be nodding, but not really listening. For once, I was wrong. -- very unusual, I know!-- ?
While upstairs, I heard a fair bit of noise, but just ignored it. Coming downstairs, I found a very agitated DH. For once he had done what I asked. Very sensibly, he had put the hammer in a bin liner and hammered it. It immediately burst into high flames ? and DH had to frantically get the garden hose to put out the fire!! Thank goodness we are planning to replace the decking in the spring, It's never dull here!
Wishing you all a very pleasant day and sending virtual hugs to all who need them.
I've just has a scam Amazon account telephone call, so I'm off to get DH to check his account. There seem to be much more of them recently.
Have the best day you can, everyone.
