Hello everyone
I can't be the only one to notice that's it's a bit quiet and sad on here today.
Lots of people are struggling one way or another, myself included.

So let's big ourselves up. tchsmile

Tell me (and everyone else!) three things that you are exceptionally, or even just vaguely, good at.
I haven't given this much thought, honest, but I'll go first.
In fact, I can't even muster enough energy to do three straight away...
And in the spirit of 'good feedback' I'll add a rubbish one aswell

1.
2.
3. Drawing (but not painting)

Could do better: anything to do with direction or balance.

Hope you all have a good, peaceful evening x

Singing tunelessly ( but that's OK as in a Tuneless choir)
Remembering names and faces
Remembering to add wine to shopping list.

Bad at remembering to add important things like potatoes and bread to shopping list.

I’ve mastered the ‘art’ of singing, and recording, along with a backing track for a performance of my choir’s Zoom Christmas concert. Tonight we are recording the videos. It gave me a great deal of grief (listening to your own voice can be painful), but I persevered and have had a sneak preview of our voices that have been put together by a very clever tecky guy.

1. Remembering useless facts (I’m a demon at Trivial Pursuit)
2. I have a natural ability to absorb foreign languages. Sit me at a restaurant table in a strange land and I will be speaking the language before we’ve got to the coffee (but I will have forgotten it within two weeks of getting home).
3. I make the world’s best Spaghetti Bolognese (at least that’s what my son says, and he’s a chef so he should know) - useless at cooking anything else though. ??

Namsnanny Thu 03-Dec-20 12:52:15

But totally reliably useless
in everyday life

I'm good at doing creative things which require attention to detail, such as sewing, patchwork and knitting.

I'm great at putting boring and routine things off like dusting and ironing. If I'm asked to assist with a project I'll drop these things (if I've picked them up in the first place) to help.

I'm fairly good (most of the time) at seeing the funny side and don't get downhearted for long as I know that most things aren't worth worrying about and will sort themselves out in the end.

BUT modern technology drives me half insane as it's flying along too fast for my old brain cells to grasp.

I had to think hard about this. I couldn't think of anything I'm particularly good at but I remembered that, in my job, I was very good at selling. Although I graduated with a good degree in law, all my plans to be a wonderful barrister flew out the window when I married DH almost straight after graduating. He was a farmer & I immersed myself in milking cows, feeding calves, driving a tractor & bringing up 2children. Times got tougher after BSE & I needed a job so, when I saw an advert for part time work at Thomas Cook, I thought "I like holidays & people, I could do that". I was amazed to be taken on at our local branch & spent 5 happy years there. I thoroughly enjoyed selling & turned out to be surprisingly good at it, easily reaching & exceeding targets & even winning holidays as a national top performer. I moved on to a small, family run company specialising in holidays to Italy. The selling was done over the phone & I loved it, building a great rapport with many clients who booked with me year after year. It was a very rewarding job and when I left after 11 years, I stayed friends with many ex clients. So I must have the gift of the gab and more patience with others than with my own family! I'm pretty good at sewing and not a bad cook but I'm no baker!

Can I put the three things my 5yr old DGS said when he was asked what he was good at for the form at school re his ASD special needs assessment form, they made me laugh
1: I’m quite good at helping people.
2: I’m good at picking up rocks, even spherical ones!
3: I can eat broccoli with cheese , even though it belongs in the bin! Lord I love that boy!!\

lizzypopbottle Thu 03-Dec-20 11:48:47

I am good at:

1. Being ready to move off when the lights change to green at the top of Newgate Street!(Everyone else is filing their nails or something. So annoying when the lights turn red again after just that one person finally drives through ?)
2. Smiling in the face of absolute frustration ?
3. I am improving at sewing. Just picking up again after many years...

I'm not good at modesty about my talents ?

Oh I love this post, my 3 are:

1: swearing... I am sooo f###ing good at that ?

2: creating meals from nothing... made a ‘sausage surprise’ last night... chorizo, mushrooms, sweetcorn, mushroom soup,
garlic & herb roulade... and tuna fish (tinned) sounds disgusting but tasty nice ?

3: putting this away - I seem to be the only person who knows where everything goes!

I think we may be sisters separated at birth!
I’ve never been politically correct. Can make a meal from almost anything (I once made a roast dinner with “what ever is in the freezer” said my daughter, it was fish fingers (awful). Plus l am the organiser , tidier , keeper of important things.
Most of all l can make people laugh and encourage naughtiness ?
