Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark ,and its raining this morning in Brackley .
Anyway , yesterday I had the call from a Doctor from my surgery , explained the symptoms which I have been having , it was suggested I have my twice yearly blood test at the surgery , and this will be followed by aa phone consultation with the nurse after a few days later, i seem to have a reaction to the current flu jab, which may have similarity's to coronavirus .
Today , will catch bus to Bicester to visit a cafe I use c/w with xmas card , plus a small shop as well before ereturning home .
Take care,
Mick

Good morning everyone from a very frosty and icy Inverness, no snow but very cold indeed ?
I’m late this morning as we had the DGC for a sleepover last night and we did the school run this morning. All very well wrapped up with bobble hats, scarves, fluffy unicorn ear muffs and Spider-Man gloves - you get the picture! Anyhow just recovering now with tea and toast and having a good catch up with all your lovely news.
Hopefully mick you’ll start feeling better and back to normal soon.
Great news about Iris grandMattie sounds like she’s doing so well ?
What a disappointment Ashcombe I feel for you and hope it’s not too long before you and your DH can be together again.
I’m off out into town later today to meet DD for a coffee after she finishes work, other than that nothing planned except general tidying up and a bit of cleaning - if I get round to it ..
Take extra care everyone if it’s icy where you are ....no slips or falls please!
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care whatever the day brings ?

Urmstongran Thu 03-Dec-20 10:20:33

I love your lamp Ashcombe it’s very atmospheric. Sorry to hear about your uncertainty getting over to your beloved in France. Fingers crossed, it could still be all systems GO!

Maydoll you are one amazing woman.
You too Cherry.
Kudos to you both.

I’m also humbled by dragonfly and EV who just ‘get on with things’ even though understandably there must be an element of health anxiety bubbling just below the surface. Neither of you dwell on it on here and I admire you both.

Fantastic news about Iris grandMattie! I love to think of her joy at chatting with her sister this afternoon.
❤️

I think good advice from you Maw for Mick.
BTW I love that throw your about to stitch together - it looks so soft!

GG13 your dinner last night (and yours Pantglas) must have been tinged with concern for our wonderful hospitality industry. Unlike Spain, we don’t have the weather to enjoy meals on a terrace late afternoon so the dwindling number of diners inside our eateries over here is a very real concern. I can only imagine the stress this pandemic is causing businesses.

Good morning from an overcast chilly Norfolk.

More parcels arriving today, DH managed to post presents to family in the Midlands yesterday, no chance we’ll see them yet, smallest one will be one just before Christmas and we’ve only seen her once, very sad.

Back to normal today after minor op, felt like I’d been through the ringer yesterday but being home with lots of tea and biscuits helped. No place like home when you’re feeling poorly.

Feeding the cake today, nearly there, smells amazing but as there’ll probably be just the two of us it’ll last a while.

Thinking of all those feeling sad or down today x

Gelisajams Thu 03-Dec-20 10:25:57

Good morning from a very wet Morecambe Bay. Rain woke me up several times during the night.
So sorry to hear you probably can’t get to France Ashcombe and pleased Iris is doing well.
I got the marzipan for the cake made yesterday. I had a few moments of panic when I had mixed the ingredients and it was still a sloppy mess. However I read the instructions again and it then said to knead the mixture. It did eventually get to a state I could roll it out. Later I realised my watch thought I’d done 20 minutes of exercise. My shoulders are aching this morning!
I suppose I must make a start writing cards. Not my favourite job, but I like receiving them especially those from old work colleagues and friends who have moved away especially if they have a little update.
Thinking of our missing posters, especially Grandmafrench who is having problems with her leg. Nothing too serious thankfully but annoying and uncomfortable. She will be back with us in a day or so.
Take care, stay safe everyone ?

Morning everyone from Co. Durham. It's a damp day here, just put my bin out, should have done it last night when it was dry. I've noticed a lot of people comment really early on a morning, I don't get my email till about 10 am. I'm putting my tree up today and all my decs, which is an all day job

Blossoming Thu 03-Dec-20 10:39:20

Good morning from a dull and rainy Lancashire. Hope you all have a good day, and those currently experiencing problems see some improvement.

Mapleleaf Thu 03-Dec-20 10:49:20

Good morning everyone,
Running a bit late posting today as I was trying to get through to somewhere on the phone and was put on hold for 20 mins, but did eventually get through. Then it was time for Pilates so had no time to post here.

Will read through all the posts shortly.

The weather is cold and grey here at the moment with the possibility of light snow/sleet showers later, but hoping they are wrong about that.

Mick do take care, and if you have any doubts whatsoever, seek advice about possibly having a Covid test as a reassurance. I'm sure they are right and it could be just reaction to the flu jab, but better safe than sorry.

Hope all is as well as can be with everyone. ? for all with troubles, worries, sadness and concerns.

Take care all.

CherryCezzy Thu 03-Dec-20 11:11:21

Gelisajams, I was wondering where Grandmafrench had got to. Thanks for letting us know why she hasn't posted for a few days. Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your leg *Grandmafrench and hope to see you back soon.

Mick I echo the concerns others have expressed and I think it would be wise to have a covid test.

You've made me blush Urmstongran. I've never been praised for having a damaged peculiar brain before ?

CherryCezzy Thu 03-Dec-20 11:13:32

Sorry for the additional bold text, another blush there. I don't know how that happened ... ?

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 03-Dec-20 11:18:04

Good Morning from cold, wet, Harrogate!! Time to brighten it up!!
Ashcombe is there any better chance of your DH coming over to you? He must see that lovely lamp!!
Glad you are on tracks to being sorted Mick
Grandmattie it's quite a good time for your GD to have her op, there should be plenty of distractions with Xmas coming along at quite a rate!
The surgery wants to see photos of my face (skin problems). The photos I've taken are not me, they are of some sad old lady with lousy skin??
Apart from making lunch, doing my online exercises,
doing some more Xmas cards, walking the dog, then DH going to the surgery making tea, then possibly joining my art club with Zoom, nothing planned!
Hope today is good for everyone

A late good morning from a very wet Northampton. I seem to be getting later and later! Did the same again this morning, woke briefly at about 6am, turned over, next thing it was gone 9! Will go back and read this thread later. Glad to say feeling much less pain from my trapped nerve.

Just had a mug of tea, got some washing in, and am about to tackle sausage rolls; always think home made taste much nicer than shop bought. These will also be shared between DS and DD, with a few left for me to keep in the freezer.

Nothing else planned for today. Waiting for one more parcel to arrive - will have to contact them if nothing has come by tomorrow.

Thinking of all on here who are feeling under the weather, or sadness or worried.

Lins1066 Thu 03-Dec-20 11:36:28

Thank you Cherry it was a relief that he's ok. When he will need the cataract operation, the Bristol clinic said that he can go back there if he wants. So good of them I thought.

The rain you sent has arrived ?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Thu 03-Dec-20 11:37:24

A late morning all from a wet, wet, wet South Notts. Good advice for you Mick on here and hope you feel better soon. Am making a bit more progress with the first sock which I'm knitting as I've started decreasing for the calf.

The knitting book which I ordered has arrived at my sister's house and I'll collect it later. It was recommended on MN on a knitting and crochet forum. I must say that it is heartening to see so many young people taking up these crafts which at one time we thought were forgotten.

Glad to hear that little Iris is picking up Grandmattie and I hope that all of you with illness or worries find improvement in your daily lives.

hollysteers Thu 03-Dec-20 11:48:28

Good, morning Mick and all from a wet Wintry Way, Lancashire. My word, what an exciting night last night! Taking advantage of eased restrictions, out for a meal and made an effort. Not pleased that my kitten heel pierced the new lino in my bathroom though.
Felt like a new person with the war paint etc and enjoyed a good steak.
Thinking of Grammaretto and darling Iris, also Mick, I hope you have no more trouble health wise.

hollysteers Thu 03-Dec-20 11:49:07

Poinsettia from DD and Advent candle.

Marydoll Thu 03-Dec-20 11:57:00

readalot, you don't need to wait for an email to comment.
Log on to GN, look for Last hour on the forums and you will see the GM thread.

Nannytopsy Thu 03-Dec-20 11:59:32

Good morning Mick and all his followers - just! School run this morning, late breakfast, finished the shopping order for C&C tomorrow.
DH has just gone to DS’s house to let the dogs out and finds one of them has eaten another branch off the Christmas tree plus an entire advent calendar, as well as removing the bristles from the broom. Well they wanted dogs!
Must get on - I need to find a Peppa Pig advent calendar before the end of school!
Love to the poorlies, the brave (Iris!), the disappointed and the recovering !

Urmstongran Thu 03-Dec-20 12:34:20

Cherry Gelisajams, I was wondering where Grandmafrench had got to

I think you’ll find that some posters on here reference events going on in Soop’s kitchen. Occasionally I used to think ‘who is that person’ if I’ve never come across them on this thread.

I now realise it’s like a sister-thread to this one and I occasionally pop over to Soop’s and get up to date that way!
?

Feelingmyage55 Thu 03-Dec-20 12:39:21

Skipped through the threads and lots of
Christmassy comments. It is brilliantly sunny here but icy. I dashed out earlier but got caught in roadworks, no movement of cars at all as giant pieces of equipment were being escorted through the area. I was getting quite “desperate” to get home but I made it. Off to have some lunch/brunch. Iris is a real trooper. mick. Relieved you are being looked after.

Georgesgran Thu 03-Dec-20 13:07:30

Nannytopsy - many years ago when we both worked, we had 2 housedogs - mad spaniels.
I’d done the Christmas food shop, just for the two of us and hurtled home in my lunch hour - leaving the bags on the kitchen worktops.
When I got home after 5 - the dogs had eaten the lot - including the then green M&S carrier bags and all that was left was an intact bottle of sherry, rolling around the floor.
Luckily everything ‘passed’ without any problems.

Daddima Thu 03-Dec-20 13:27:42

Good afternoon Mick and all. The fells are covered in snow, but it’s bright and crisp ( not that I’ll be going out to test it).
Good to hear Iris ( what a lovely name for a wee girl) is doing well, and hope Marydoll will feel better soon.
I have news that Jet2 have cancelled my flights, so it’s Christmas at home for me, so my plans did ‘gang agley’ as well Ashcombe.
Last year I bought Christmas gift bags for the children’s ‘ wee mindings’, and of course I can’t find them, so I shall just go now and wrap the gifts in the wrapping paper I bought.
Of course, you know what will happen as soon as I’ve finished.

CherryCezzy Thu 03-Dec-20 15:36:34

You're right Urmstongran , soop's kitchen is very much like a "sister thread*. I've only been in there once in the last few months so I'm not up to date ?

Kim19 Thu 03-Dec-20 19:25:28

Hello Grammaretto. Just...... hello. Thinking about you a lot. ?
