Building wise like a pub, or Hotel , as someone well known been present whilst you were in there .
I have had a few experiences .
1: I went to see the Tour De France in Paris in the 80`s on a coach trip , finding the passenger on the trip next to me was Bernard Manning , we also had a beer together .
2:Also in the 80`s I stayed at the Crown Hotel in Harrogate ,and had lunch close to where Johnny Morris was seated .
3: Coming into the 90`s :
Richard Harris in a pub in Banbury ,and staying in Yorkshire again , went to the pub that was called the Woolpack in Esholt, to see cast members of Emmerdale taking a break one was Stan Richards .
4: up to date ,2 occasions I was on a coach trip again staying in a hotel in Old Windsor and Alistair McGowan was having breakfast , and finally staying a hotel outside High Wycombe for my nephews wedding, Rick wakeman was having breakfast .

We were once staying in a hotel in Dartmouth and sat next to Donald Sutherland and Robert Duvall with their entourage having a meal. They were filming there. They were drinking champagne after retiring to the lounge for after dinner drinks. They later got up and left so my DH decided to go and retrieve the remaining champagne which had been left in the bottle. As we were enjoying our ‘freebie’ Donald Sutherland came back to the lounge to collect the bottle to, we assume, take back to his room! Our faces must have turned scarlet as he looked at us smiled, winked and said “have a good night”. So embarrassed ?!

I once found myself standing next to Prunella Scales on a very crowded tube - we had a good giggle.
Years ago, my husband and I were in a weeny little restaurant in the middle of nowhere in the South of France. Got chatting to a charming american couple - turns out he was the author of the Hannibal Lecter books. He couldn't have been nicer or more unassuming. At that time Silence of the Lambs was top of the best seller list in the UK - he was very 'chuffed' when I told him that!

Often see Moira Stewart in my local Sainsbury's! She's always so nice to the people serving. And forgot, I see Richard Osman now and then - he lives v. near me. He's so tall you can't help but notice him! Sometimes I have a little chat with him. I once persuaded Rowan Atkinson to buy something from my husband too.

I once met Fred Dibner at a local Steam Rally, I was standing at the side of the Hot Pie stall, shaking a tin for our Local Animal rescue Society, he spotted that we had a five gallon water barrel that we were using to keep our Dog bowl topped up, and asked me if we could spare him a couple of pints to top up the tank on his Miniture Traction engine that his Son was sitting on nearby. I filled his Can up for him, and he gave us a generous donation into our tin in return! Such a small man, not very tall at all, but had a lovely friendly personality.

Some years ago in an Italian restaurant in Leeds, we were sat at the next table to Bill Maynard - he didn't seem at lot different to his Heartbeat Greengrass character.

I was having my 50th birthday lunch at Le Manoir au Quatre Saisons and Damon Hill his wife and son were at a nearby table. When Raymond Blanc came out of the kitchen to autograph my menu do ye know what? .....I thought it was my birthday! smile

I was working behind the bar at a West London cricket club and served a couple of drinks to Michael Parkinson. He was a proper gentleman and bought the bar staff a drink. This would have been in the early 80s.

I was on my way to work when I spotted Mick Fleetwood walking down my local high street. I was due to see Fleetwood Mac in concert a few days later. I just went up to him and said Hello Mr Fleetwood could I have your autograph. I also had a photo taken with him and it got in the local paper. I think he must have some sort of connection with the area as I saw him again a couple of years later.

My dad was invited (with a very ornate invitation) to a dinner at which the Duke of Edinburgh was present. Can't remember much about his comments, he's long gone now.

Years ago on a KLM flight from Amsterdam to Manchester the whole of the Liverpool FC team queueing for the toilet after having beer before boarding the plane. I presume

I used to work in a greengrocers in the midlands and Jane Rossington who played Jill in crossroads would shop there.
Then i saw her in the local pub and she recognised me.
She was the loveliest person.
I also bumped into Pat Roach in the pub and he really is a big man and lovely with it.
Neither of them were up themselves.

Mary Berry at Heathrow T1, used to see Gary Rhodes regularly in Waitrose when we lived in Dubai plus many a famous footballer with their family’s! My husband sat next to Ronan Keating on a flight once, I was very jealous!

Was having lunch in a pub in Surrey when Judi Dench walked in. It took a minute to work out who she was, she's so much tinier than I expected. I was with some American and French visitors, and when I said 'Oh look, that's Judi Dench' none of them knew who she was. I think she had just made her first James Bond film then.

I've seen too many 'special' people to count, from royalty to music superstars as we used to live at a stately home that holds events and parties (my husband worked there).

The funniest occasion was Roger Moore appearing desperate for a wee! My then 7 yr old daughter had informed him that he could use our loo. Of course it would be the moment when I'd been sorting the dirty laundry, so there he was using the loo surrounded by dirty clothing. He was delightful!

On another occasion I went out to fish out my daughter, and watched her escorting an elderly couple followed by several men in black with ear pieces.......turned out they were Thai royalty, she was chattering away.........

It was a very unusual lifestyle the children on site had freedoms that few children have, we all met some amazing people and had some incredible experiences.

David McCallum from The Man from Uncle, at Gatwick airport in the 1970’s. I was 14 and it was my first flight. Travelling with school and some of the other pupils recognised him.

Dr Hilary Jones, in his local which wasn’t far from where we lived.

I was on a Ryanair flight back from Assisi, made the mad dash to the plane and dropped into a seat with one of our group next to me only to realise that on the end of our row was Ken Stott (Rebus). I had a Rebus book (borrowed from a friend) in my bag but that was already in the overhead locker and I didn't like to disturb him!

We have various celebs living around our part of the world - Denis Lawson lives just up the road and Nigel Havers is local too

In the 90's my best friend, my sister and I went to Saman's in Helensburgh for a curry. We were slightly tipsy when BF said there's a Billy Connolly lookalike coming in. I stared and thought that is Billy Connolly. We stared at him as he walked all the way down to his table in a curtained off area. He said 'Hi girls, how are you doing?' We said 'Fine, Billy. How are you?' My sister who was facing the rest of the restaurant said everyone was talking and saying they know BC. We didn't. We'd just stared at him so much he had no option but to speak to us.

We saw Alan Bennett buying tomatoes in Pateley Bridge. My husband was a bit starstruck!

Kate1949 Tue 08-Dec-20 18:36:39

We went to a posh dinner at The Grosvenor House Hotel many years ago. Jeffrey Archer was the guest speaker. It was really boring. We sneaked out to a nearby pub in our finery.

Kate 1949...
We went to a charity do at the Winter Gardens in W.S.M many years ago where he was a guest speaker, he was incredible vulgar. I'm not a prude but I was offended and I got up and went to the ladies room for 10 minutes. I was shocked that I was the only woman who did!.
Another time he was sitting directly behind me in a Restaurant where we went for Sunday lunch, he was with a very attractive young woman and it wasn't Mary.

Nightsky2 Tue 08-Dec-20 19:09:40

Coppernob. We met Alen Bennet as we were friendly with his brother Gordon Bennet, honestly I'm not making it up.
