Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where it’s dark, cold, and quite frosty.

Last night we set off with the dog to have a look at all the decorations and Window Wonderland displays but had to quickly turn back as the ground was like an ice rink. It was absolutely lethal underfoot, I’m glad I’ve nowhere to be today.

Our next door neighbours are a lovely young couple who always put our bins out with theirs as they are up and out very early. I had been intending to give them a little something nearer Christmas but yesterday they beat me to it, I hadn’t seen this kind of bottle wrap before.

Love all the festive photos, we all need a little light in our lives.

Morning Mick, morning All. Cold and grey in our corner of Somerset. Quiet day ahead, too uncomfortable at the moment to do much. Maw, did you know you can pay for parcel postage on line on the Royal Mail site? Just need to weigh the item. It’s worked well for us, printed the address and postage label. Stuck it on and put the package in our nearest parcel post box (had no idea there was such a thing). Probably no quicker overall but no need to queue. Family can be a balancing act for sure grandMattie, messages work well with ours. Goodness deagonfly, your water incident must have been a shock, thank goodness for a helpful plumber. Take it easy marydoll, you’re welcome to join me in a quiet day . Take care everyone, special thoughts for those with worries or heavy hearts.

Yes I do have a lot of cards already Gingster but at least half a dozen of them were passed to me by friends in Spain as I left!

Good morning Mick and all his followers. It is froggy and frosty here in Suffolk, as a weather forecaster once said.

I am not sure the planned garden tidy up will go ahead. I still have sewing to do and piccalilli to make, cards to write, parcels to pack and a cake to feed then decorate. Oh, DiL wants a Christmas pudding too. Put like that, perhaps I should get moving.
Glad your leak was not too disastrous Dragonfly - you don’t need damaged ceilings.

We didn't get to bed till 1'sh last night as the snooker went on and on and on..... DH still asleep now.
I have a hair appointment at 10 so must get going.
I didn't go anywhere yesterday and do feel better today, onwards and upwards.

Good morning from North Yorkshire where is is grey and dry. Off to meet a friend today to walk round a local reservoir. We will need to wrap up warm. Parcels expected later. Almost all my Christmas shopping has been on line this year a complete turn round from last year when nothing was.

Good Morning from a Misty cold N. Bucks.
Had a lovely walk with my DDs yesterday and a surprise non Christmas gift.
After a long discussion we have all decided to follow our heads and won’t be meeting indoors over Christmas. I have explained more elsewhere in a thread. I just wish my heart would catch up with my head!
So DH and I will be spending Christmas as a threesome with MIL. I will say no more except Merry won’t come into it

Lots of jobs to do today. Still not written all the cards. Marzipan to go on the cake which will be divided up around the family. Likewise other Christmas foods that I always make.
Hope you all find a ? I think I might have to look hard today.

Good morning from a foggy Cheshire. I always think it feels chillier when there's fog around too Sar53.

Loving seeing all the Christmas trees and decorations. I'm not going to bother with a big tree this year as my family are in lockdown abroad and not coming. I won't be at all miserable though and have bought a pretty little pre-lit real tree. Can't claim the credit for one I haven't designed!

Going to call the hairdresser and ask for help with my thinning locks. For years I went every week, but during the repeated lockdowns and Tier 3 existence I have been coping myself and it shows.

I will be walking in the misty woods at 9.00 as it sets me up for the day. Hope Monday is kind to everyone.

Good morning everyone from a very frosty and murky Northampton. One of those mornings I am so thankful that I don't have to be up and out early
to face a class of Year Sixes! But I do miss Christmas at school. I came home from DD's early afternoon yesterday as it was very foggy and I didn't want them driving home in the dark. The house was nice and cosy as I had left the heating on a little higher than usual.

Nothing planned for today, so I will make a start on the Christmas cards, then they can be posted when I go to the hairdressers tomorrow.

DD went shopping yesterday, but I turned down the offer to go with her as I thought it might be busy (apparently it was very quiet, she said). She saw the hair styler I had ordered for DGD for Christmas, and as I was worried that it won't arrive in time bought it for me. So if the other one arrives and I have two she asked if she could have the spare for her birthday next month. Problem solved.

Mick, make sure you mention something to the nurse when you go to the surgery today. Please listen to the good advice on here.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a gloomy, cold, damp looking South Yorkshire. Mick glad you’re going to have a gentle day. We went out to watch GS play football yesterday - in the rain, though it did dry up briefly. I’m glad we made the effort as he said last night on face time that he was really glad to see us there. A cleaning day for us today and posting cards. And then trying to sort out why my iPad will no longer send my emails now it has updated its operating system. I do not deserve this kind of technical trial and tribulation! The people who have solutions all talk a different language to me!!

Good morning from N Hants. Thankfully the heavy rain forecast yesterday by the BBC didn’t arrive and today is cold, damp and a little foggy. Loved the reference to Victorian times, fog is so atmospheric.

Good morning All. I was up early for a doctor's appointment which was then cancelled as the doctor is unwell. Ho hum. I had made no plans for today so I expect I'll get on with wrapping presents. Nannytopsy I love Hill Street Blues. All the actors were great. Marydoll An empty! Your tree and nativity are lovely. Many years ago mum knitted a nativity for my son. He still puts it up. Dd got one from her when she was married and it goes up too. Have a good day all.

That so reminds me of the Christmas Days of my childhood, Ginny. My Scottish grandparents were strict teetotallers so lemonade was served with Christmas Dinner.
Mum would keep a bottle of Sherry in the kitchen and my dad would be forever jumping up to offer to help her! Then he would pop in a quick pan drop (mint imperial to you English) to disguise any trace of alcohol.
My GPs were sweet people but not a bundle of laughs - heaven knows how they produced my father with his anarchic sense of humour!
Just think of how you are earning your place in heaven Ginny ???

Good morning from Malta where the sun is shining at present but there are ominous looking clouds in the distance so anything could happen.

Had a text just as I was dozing off last night to tell me my nephew has covid and is quite poorly. He’s a teacher and evidently five staff tested positive as well as some students so they have decided to close the school for now. I shall worry about him. We are very close.

I was up at silly o’clock (Mick hadn’t opened up yet) as I had to take my car in to have it’s headlights reconditioned. The garage supplied a taxi to take me home and it was the ride from hell! I feel as though I’ve been twice round the island as he kept going the wrong way. In the end I didn’t wait to get home but got out and walked to the village where I’m having a restorative cappuccino.

Next stop M&S food for more mince pies. They are delicious and the fruit has no crunchy bits in it as some others do.

Mick,don’t want to nag but I think you should call the GP today.The chances are that whoever takes your blood will be a phlebotomist and not a qualified nurse.I think explain the symptoms you have been having to the receptionist and ask if it would be possible to see the dr or diabetic nurse after your blood test tomorrow.At least they will hopefully check your blood pressure.

Another quiet day here which suits me perfectly.

MIL is ok, just very set in her ways and formal. Quite the opposites to me. So I find her harder work than when there is a crowd of us to cope.

I watched a silly, funny children’s film yesterday afternoon called Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger. It had lots of children’s choirs performing variations on Christmas songs and David Tennant playing their overwhelmed teacher. It was so nice to see children singing and dancing. My partner was sitting on the sofa, working on his laptop and he archly remarked ‘You’re too old for this, N’. Then I spotted him laughing and tapping along to the music ?

We had terrible shenanigans yesterday with our internet router, which at 7 years old is apparently ancient and obsolete. A new one is on its way, by express delivery.

I hope we all have a decent day. Gilly is in my thoughts... ?

ginny poor you. I had one of those and as is often the case, the harder I tried the more I ‘failed’. Maybe if you’re a Moany Old MIL, then Christmas just takes you to another level ?. Be of good cheer...you’ve got the right attitude. And come out from under Urm’s hall table, everyone. Nothing to see. It’s possibly just a (small) stash of presents. ?

I’m off for a walk.....the dogs seem to have learned to raise their eyebrows, so I’m avoiding eye contact until I’ve posted this. After that, cleaning and clearing - a typical Monday. Tomorrow hairdressers. Hurrah! Really really necessary ?.

Good morning, cool and damp underfoot.
Awake most of the night, went to bed at eleven by 12.50 I was up and in the spare room. I had chest pain all night and can only imagine it was the small brandy and ginger I had during the evening.
Sitting in bed having a cup of tea just before 9am when the doorbell went, it was a Royal mail delivery. I think the sight of me may have just traumatised him for the day.
DD and I had a Skype chat for an hour and a half yesterday, her DH was watching the GP and mine was in bed with his book.
I was tickled by her backdrop, usually I see her bedroom wall but now it looks like shelves of cleaning products. She works for the association that oversees the safety of our detergents and cleaning materials. Working from home I guess she does not want to showcase her bedroom.
She had been to do a shop in the English shop and was delighted to have got nut roasts and vegetarian wellingtons, she is also able to get Waitrose mince pies there at a price I am guessing but cheaper than me sending them.
Resting day today.

Good morning everyone from north Kent where it is grey and murky. DH looking glum as his golf might be called off as the course is currently closed due to fog. I feel glum as I was looking forward to an empty.

Yesterday was spent pottering around the garden enjoying the sunshine. I have put up Christmas lights around the patio so our outdoor living space looks very festive. We bought a fire pit and patio heater earlier in the year. Our local greengrocer is selling chestnuts so I am looking forward to munching on roasted chestnuts from the firepit, warmed by the flames and admiring the flashing lights!

Bad news yesterday; our 87 year old friend is in hospital with cellulitis and covid. Presume she caught the virus in hospital as she has been self isolating. Very worrying.

Love all the Christmas trees going up. Doing mine tomorrow. Hope you all have a warm and well Monday. Stay safe
