Well that was a shot in the dark GillT57, considering you know nothing about me. I, on the other hand have been reading the above mentioned poster for years, the same old same old, repeatedly running down the UK, pointing out all that is wrong here.

Perhaps that is why this poster made the decision to return home to Switzerland as she put it herself. I too have lived abroad and completely understand those feelings as I too returned home.

According to these figures we do actually need to buy imported food we don't produce enough ourselves. That is quite apart from people wanting the choices that we have had up to now and do not want to lose.

Here we go again. You mean a British national, married to another British national, with British children, grandchildren and family - paid in tanking Sterling after working all their life in the UK in public services, eg the NHS and State Edu.

Paving slabs ARE also made in the UK and my own recently laid path were with slabs that showed Manufactured in the UK. Shop around .UK manufactures are still here and always will be For those who remember the effects of WW11 and the hard times that were to follow leaving the EU will be a piece of cake in comparison.

The UK has already signed several Free Trade Agreements with other countries; Singapore being the most recent. Funnily enough, they didn't want to control our borders, waters and laws as part of signing it. They just wanted to be a sensible country and offer 2 way trade, not an organisation scared stiff of losing control in case others were encouraged to break ranks.

However people voted in the referendum we are now where we are, and it is important that a good deal is secured.

I am sure that some things will improve when we leave, and some will deteriorate or problems will arise. But this is where we are and we must make the best of it. What else can we do? It is not going to change now.

The EU are keen to maintain those things that are advantageous for them in having the UK a member; just as we are wanting to retain those things that are advantageous for us. Hopefully there will be sufficient overlapping ground for these two aspects that a deal can be struck.

I also think that the EU are keen that we should not have too good a deal as other member states might start wanting to leave too with a similar good deal, but less outlay.

Daisend1, you have no idea what being a member of the EU means. We talked about this at the start of the thread, cheese and wine parties aren't the problem here.

I went to get my Warfarin this morning. Made in The Netherlands. Did you hear the businessman on Radio 2 this lunchtime saying that his paving slabs from India were held up because we don't know what the customs requirements will be in 3 weeks time? And he doesn't know what the effect on his business will be?

He was really surprised. Wonder if he voted brexit?

There is 'nowt'( a word I latched onto from my Yorkshire inlaws) I will miss once out of the EU.It never stopped me travelling Europe before we became part of it and won't again non Eu.. There are others wines and food non EU that will still be available and that I enjoy so no great loss should we have to pay more for Eu items.

I think it’s time to walk away.

The EU are not going to budge, and the PM said the deal on offer was one no Prime Minister would accept.

It has always been the case that they would give us a hard time, both to punish us for having the temerity to vote to leave, as well as to try to deter other countries from doing the same.

I am so pleased Boris appears to be standing firm.

We now have to hope he holds his ground.

We voted to leave with or without a deal and that is what we will do.

When I voted to leave the EU one of my thoughts was what would the EU become if France and Germany also decided to leave ?

Sorry I haven't been back. Out all day yesterday.

First of all brexit is a done deal and it's is vital that we get the best possible terms. This does not mean giving in on fishing quotas, protects us from control by european courts, keeps our finance industry secure etc.

UK food standards are higher than Europe's and have been for years. Animal welfare us higher in UK.

All I am saying is better to have a rough few months with a no deal than give up on our basic requirements. Hopefully today will show some movement on EU's stance

Decided to look up Pasta Foods as our business imports goods from Italy and sells pasta to the hospitality industry in England. It is a sandwich and snack food industry provider !! It doesn't put dried pasta on supermarket shelves or into restaurants.

We have just signed a deal with Singapore and have already signed one with Japan. We have secured 26 trade agreements with 55 countries. I don’t have blinkered thinking at all thank you.
