I hope no-one else has done this or we will get confused- which we all know is very easily done.

Bubbly on the side just in case any one else turns up.

If not, see you tomorrow.

Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite

Puzzler61 Mon 21-Dec-20 16:32:07

Urmstongran how are you today? Have you been in touch with your GP surgery.
The last thing you want is for your jaw and ear to become even worse over the Christmas shutdown.
Please update us. We don’t like you being down. ?

Puzzler61 Mon 21-Dec-20 16:28:21

annsixty when will your GD get the result?
Good Luck to her and hope for a negative result. Don’t worry about Christmas until you know what the outcome is - it may all be fine. ?

Puzzler61 Mon 21-Dec-20 16:26:18

That’s 2 good pieces of news Galen and I hope you’re not too sore from your fall. Rest and recuperate, and let the GP know all that is difficult for you please. Hopefully help will be offered and times will get better for you. ?
Please keep us updated.

Galen Mon 21-Dec-20 15:58:35

My COVID test is negative.
The GP is coming to visit me today!

annodomini Mon 21-Dec-20 13:53:47

Ann, I hope that your GD's test proves to be negative. I know my GS in Berkshire (tier 4) is waiting for a result as his GF has tested positive. I fear that the French are giving us a foretaste of what is likely to happen after Brexit. A not-very-merry Christmas seems to be on the cards. Have you been offered a vaccination?

annsixty Mon 21-Dec-20 12:58:26

Not a good day here, GD not at all well and has been for a Covid test this morning, our almost non Christmas looks like being a totally non event if it’s positive.
How do I get food in, especially as supermarkets are predicting food shortages due to the problems at Dover.
Where will it all end I ask myself?

NanaandGrampy Mon 21-Dec-20 12:48:52

Afternoon all,

Sorry to hear about the fall Glen that is worrying . Maybe something sheltered rather than a home? Just where you can get a little bit more support than you have now?

Sorry you're feeling poorly Urms , hope you feel better quickly.

I like the sound of your foodie day NannyT. Might have to think that one through. Ive had to move from medication to insulin for my diabetes and I'm having a bit of a wobble around food but it'll work itself out I'm sure.

Hope Soop is back soon .

xx

Galen can I echo everything Kittylester said.

LauraNorder Mon 21-Dec-20 12:09:43

Oh Galen, what an awful time you’re having. I do hope someone from the surgery gets back to you soon and can arrange some help.
Please keep on trying even though you’ve filled out the forms.

kittylester Mon 21-Dec-20 12:08:57

I echo you final thought!! grin

Galen if you choose the right one it could be like cruising all the time. Seriously, a couple of people I know of have enjoyed the company and the lack of responsibility that come with doing into a lovely residential home.

Please let your daughter know. I know we think we are protecting our children but they are grown ups now and like to be treated as such. She knows you are capable but she cares for and about you. We got into awful trouble when we didn't tell ours about DH's investigations.

Galen Mon 21-Dec-20 10:33:32

Thankyou all for kind remarks.
I have a trolley but it doesn’t cope with the change from tiles to carpet.
No I haven’t told my darling daughter, she has enough to worry about.
I’ve filled in the surgery form requesting a consultation.
I suspect I’m going to have to go into a home.?
Heaven help the place I chose!

dragonfly46 Mon 21-Dec-20 09:47:02

Galen so sorry to hear about your fall. I hope you managed to get a good nights sleep.
I cannot add anything to what the others have said but I do hope you are not on your own for long or that the doctor can arrange some care to help you.
Sending you hugs and flowers

kittylester Mon 21-Dec-20 09:41:30

Oh Galen, I agree with maw so I expect that is both of us of your Chrustmas card list. grin

Please call 111 if you can't get through to your gp. I thought paramedics could arrange medical care.

I presume that you have told your daughter?

annsixty Mon 21-Dec-20 09:37:53

Those trolleys are invaluable.
I bought one some months ago, it was £50, and money very well spent.
I still use it daily, I still can’t carry things and it is so useful.
They had one in the physio and occupational therapy room at the hospital and were pleased when I said I already had one.

Charleygirl5 Mon 21-Dec-20 09:34:05

Galen I have looked up mobility trolleys on Amazon and there are a few which may serve the purpose. One or two even have brakes.

The trolley cannot cope with the slightest raise even ceramic floor to rug- or at least mine could not. If your floor is completely level- no problem. Good luck.

annodomini Mon 21-Dec-20 09:17:45

Dear Galen, I'm sorry to hear that you've had another fall, and, by the sound of it, a serious one this time. There ought to be a hot line for paramedics to contact GPs in such a situation. If you can't get through by phone, is there an email system for contacting your practice? Leave no stone unturned. xxxxx

Alygran Mon 21-Dec-20 09:15:54

Galen hope you get through to your GP flowers

Charleygirl5 Mon 21-Dec-20 09:11:10

OMG heart problems are about all that you need at present Galen.

I had the same food problem after my first knee replacement but after my second I was given a trolley which meant I did not need my crutches and I could transport food and my coffee.

Maybe you could buy one online from a Mobility shop or Gary could buy you one. I will happily look online for you for one similar to mine if you wish.

I did not get rid of mine I have kept it in the kitchen in case I need it in the future. My shed is full of useful items like a commode, crutches, walking frame etc.

Doodle I hope the pain team have enjoyed their weekend off and can do some decent work such as getting your man almost pain free so he can go home and have a decent Christmas. So good there is a lift to your flat so at least everything is on the level when you get there.
TOYA

annsixty Mon 21-Dec-20 06:48:40

Oh dear Galen I can fully understand how vulnerable you must feel.
No answer sadly, I would feel exactly like you if I was on my own.
I hope you soon get to to see your GP.
Keep us up to date and we will be thinking of you.

MawBe Mon 21-Dec-20 05:44:56

I am so sorry to hear this and hope you managed to get some sleep.
My feeling is that you probably should not be on your own, but though kindly meant, you may not find that helpful
Gentle hugs
