I hope no-one else has done this or we will get confused- which we all know is very easily done.

Bubbly on the side just in case any one else turns up.

If not, see you tomorrow.

Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite

Puzzler61 Tue 12-Jan-21 14:20:34

That’s great news kittylester.
It’s automatic now that we think “it’s Covid”, it’s what this terrible virus has done to us.

Yiayia4 Tue 12-Jan-21 14:40:44

What a worry Kittylester.
Hope your son makes a quick recovery.

Charleygirl5 Tue 12-Jan-21 14:58:48

*kittylester pleased to hear your son is home again- better in his own bed. It takes time for his mother to recover having given her such a fright!

BladeAnnie Tue 12-Jan-21 15:05:25

Just popping on to say hello before we take my mum her shopping - delivered earlier courtesy of sainsbury's. Then home to watch the football - please, please Sheffield United let's have a point or three tonight!!

cornergran Tue 12-Jan-21 15:39:00

Afternoon All. That's good news kitty, I can imagine it did give you all a scare. I can understand your upset Izabella, look after yourself.

The woodpecker is very handsome for sure, soop, we have huge numbers of field sparrows in our back garden, some blackbirds and the odd robin but that's it.

Our isolating-one has not a symptom and is apparently bored, his unsympathetic parents think that is so much better than having covid! My MRI outcome is with the surgery, phone call today, complicated disc issues and something puzzling that is being referred on. GP will phone again next Monday. We really are both getting excellent care and feel as if the occupants of corner-land are a major drain on the NHS at the moment.

Tomorrow's excitement will be a covid jab for Mr C, it means an early start which we certainly don't mind.

Take care everyone. It's chill out on the sofa time for me. TOYA.

kittylester Tue 12-Jan-21 16:00:26

You are right charley. He's only 49 for goodness sake.

And, I'm sure you felt the same about Tara. How are you?

Lins1066 Tue 12-Jan-21 17:12:23

Afternoon everyone. I'm glad that your son is home kitty and that he is on the road to recovery, what a scare for you though.
I hope that your isolating one stays symptom free corner.
BladeAnnie I hope your team scores lots of goals tonight, just one more than their opponents would do I suppose.

A poignant day for us, two years ago this week both my in-laws passed away, they were in their nineties and such kind, happy souls. This afternoon we laid flowers where their ashes are buried.

I am sorry and not a little dumbfounded that BT have still not got you online soop, you and Mr soop deserve free connection for life after all this. You will be interested to know that 7 month old Sam has outgrown his crate, a new larger model was delivered this afternoon. The woodpecker photo is stunning, it is the Big Garden Birdwatch at the end of the month, you will be kept busy in your garden if you take part.

I am trying to be good but Mr L put jam donuts on our Sainsbury's order, they are
calorie free, they're very good, well I had to try one didn't I?

I am thinking of all those for whom life is particularly hard at the moment, these are for you Izabella flowers

soop Tue 12-Jan-21 17:14:22

kitty I am so relieved to hear news that your son is home where he belongs. Bravo NHS.

soop Tue 12-Jan-21 17:26:55

BladeAnnie Enjoy the match. We all need some light relief.

Lins You have happy memories to comfort you. That is a blessing. flowers
The calorie free donuts...are they for sharing? wink

corner My thoughts are with you.
Mr C will be delighted to make an early start in order to have the benefit of the vaccine.
I am hoping that Mr Soop can have the Covid jab in the not too distant future.

I am logging off. I shall do my utmost to be back with my favorite Granspals tomorrow.
Is that the correct spelling for favorite? It looks wrong to me.

TOYA smile moon

Grandmabatty Tue 12-Jan-21 17:30:38

I'm sorry Kittylester. I realise that I'm lucky still to see dgs. I live alone and went through the last big lock down without seeing him and I know how hard that was. Because I live alone I am in their extended household and appreciate seeing dd,sil and dgs. Soop that's a great photo of a woodpecker. Boy wonder is back home and I'm going to have a gin and tonic while the dinner cooks. Have a good evening all.

Daisyboots Tue 12-Jan-21 17:34:03

Just a quick sign in to say I am still alive and just about kicking before I try to catch up on some of the posts I have missed.

TOYA from a very chilly Portugal although some milder weather coming soon.

Urmstongran Tue 12-Jan-21 17:57:14

‘Evening All’
?

Today has gone really fast. Cooking this morning, a takeaway coffee and a stroll through the sunshine to deliver a meal to our daughter’s - we have a spare key so left dishes on the side in the kitchen. One job less for a busy mummy after teaching key worker children then picking her own children up from their school where they are being taught as key worker children!

Got back and nipped into Sainsbury’s (staff on the door checking all who entered were wearing masks & a supply to hand for those who didn’t have one) and bought myself a rather fetching pair of pyjamas. Back up in the lift, quick shower and put them on. That’s me comfy for the tv this evening.

I always recall the comedian John Bishop saying his sons told him ‘Ay dad, never buy your clothes from the same shop as where you can buy sprouts’! Always chuckle at that when I’m at the till.
?

Later this I shall sit on the bed and watch episode 2 of the ITV drama ‘The Pembrokeshire Muders’ whilst Himself will be in the main room watching the Man. Utd game. Both happy bunnies.

soop that ‘favourite’ word was the American spelling - no U. Bit like when the predictive text offers you the American ‘neighbor’ - again no U. It’s easy to slip past!

Hope everyone has a gentle and peaceful evening ahead. Thinking especially of AuntieFlo tonight. x. And of course travelsafar.
?

‘Goodnight All’.

Grandmafrench Tue 12-Jan-21 18:31:28

It’s American English....without the ‘u’, * soop*. That’s why I dislike predictive text so much!

Good evening lovely Kitcheners. Glad all big children are doing better, less worried Kitcheners all round. Congrats, Mr corner. One less thing to be waiting for/worrying about.

Lovely sunny bitter cold day here and Paxo the cat ?‍⬛ decided to fall in the pool which had some icy slush in places?! ?Not a happy cat when she roared up to the terrace doors as we were having lunch. She never goes near the water so it was obviously an accident. She’s always travelling at high speed when she goes into the garden.....has no idea as to how a 15 year old cat should behave! Warm towels, a hairdryer, a very bad tempered cuddle by the fire (her not me) and all was well. She was furious! Possibly embarrassed too?

Our Son, who left his down jacket and winter coat in the UK (optimistically), had it sent here many days ago by carrier from England. Tracking shows the parcel in France, the carrier had to be grilled today and sent to make all sorts of enquiries. She called back to confirm that the parcel was delayed by Customs pending a possible further charge. What? How wonderful it will be once Logistics companies and carriers are able to find out what they are supposed to be doing regarding imports and exports.

I’m off to eat my Oriental fish supper with lots of noodles. A glass raised to you all. Stay safe, nighty night all.

Grandmafrench Tue 12-Jan-21 18:35:13

1,000 ridiculous things stopped me finishing my post, Urms. Why didn’t I get you to send it for me? Oh, looks like I did.
Sorry for the repetition, soop.,

Grandmafrench Tue 12-Jan-21 18:37:36

One more thing before a dead battery, Urms. Did you see it was minus 25 in parts of Spain last night? You’ll have to dig out those (fur-lined) fuchsia sandals before you return!

Daisyboots Tue 12-Jan-21 19:44:53

How frustrating for your son GrandmaFrench. I hope the parcel finally arrives soon. It has been so cold in Portugal since New Year that I would have liked some longsleeved nighties but knowing the state of parcel deliveries it will be spring by the time they get through customs etc. I have lots of pj's but don't like wearing them to bed. Can't go to the shops here either. Luckily my son brought his winter coat and hoodies with him. He should have gone home last Friday but his flight was cancelled so I have extended his car parking at the airport for another 5 weeks.

Doodle Tue 12-Jan-21 20:40:25

Oh kitty I’m sorry, I didn’t know about your son. That must have been worrying. Good news about the COVID test though. Hope he’s well on the mend now.

Doodle Tue 12-Jan-21 20:51:05

lins must have been hard to lose both in-laws in the same week. Nice to have happy memories of them though.
So Sam is getting bigger. They do that don’t they.?. Hope he’s being a good boy. I bet you love him to bits. Don’t forget to share the donuts ?
charley I didn’t realise the CPL would check up on people. Sensible I suppose but it must be difficult in times of lockdown especially if they have a lot of cats to find good homes for. Hope you are coping ok.
grandmafrench oh poor Paxo. What a shock ? Hope your son isn’t too cold waiting for his coat.
TOYA ?

dustyangel Tue 12-Jan-21 20:56:34

Well, probably far better for our health and waistlines but these are what we would have got as English Christmas goodies from our daughters if the post had been normal Daisy. Instead the parcel came all the way out to a town 15 miles or so away and returned back to older daughter’s house in England. I’ve had a long sleeved nightie from Land’s End almost get here only to get diverted somewhere else as well.

Grandmafrench Tue 12-Jan-21 21:29:14

Oh, I'd have to fight you for the luxury Stollen bits, dusty. Where are you? Sounds like you might have our very flaky French countryside postal service! I once sent a fabulous little broderie anglaise nightie to a 6 year old GD for an August birthday. She never got it. Late in the following Spring,!!!! it turned up back at our house. I had put Angleterre on the parcel, someone at the sorting office, who clearly had missed his Specsavers appointment, had put it on a plane for Allemagne (bit of a difference). By the time it had come back to France and then on to England, it only just fitted her. Not impressed. Now, I think we will have to suffer quite a lot of parcel inconvenience before deliveries get into a sensible routine again. Looking again at your photo, I shall have to take the view that it's all good for the waistline. grin

Long-sleeved nighties, Daisy ? Not a lot to ask, eh? Maybe a long-sleeved t-shirt over a short sleeved nightie while you wait? I know, not exactly chic, but doubt that The Style Police are currently on patrol in Portugal. You could risk it, I reckon. ?. Hope you are hugely enjoying your Son's visit and that your treatment has received a bit of a boost due to his arrival.

Paxo has recovered her health and temper, thank you Doodle for asking, she said! Is Mr Doodle improving daily? He might have been wiser to take a tumble into a pool! Do hope he's recovering, broken ribs are awful - the nature of such injuries often means you just have to get on with it but the pain is incredible. Still, he has you to 'Jeeves about' and tend to his needs, so hopefully he'll be achieving Olympic fitness levels in no time. ? Take care of yourself. TOYA moon ?

Urmstongran Tue 12-Jan-21 22:13:31

I saw the deep snow reported in the newspapers - in Madrid yesterday where it was -10°C GrandmaFrench. Mind you the ‘Ladies Who Wine’ met up in Malaga this afternoon and texted me afterwards ‘missing you, chilly but sunny here at last!’.

Think I’ll be giving it a few more months (virus figures & weather) to improve before we return! Can’t wait to be in those fuchsia sandals again.

What a good memory you have!

Lins1066 Tue 12-Jan-21 22:24:49

Yes soop and Doodle the donuts are for sharing, help yourselves everyone.
Hope Mr Doodle is feeling easier as each day passes, sending him all the best for his continued recovery.
Poor Paxo hope the poor thing has dried out GrandmaFrench, she will give the pool a very wide berth for a while.
TOYA ?

Charleygirl5 Tue 12-Jan-21 22:36:09

Doodle I am not sure what is happening adopting/homing a cat at CPL. At present they are not looking for homes for cats from abusive homes- at least not in my area because Covid is particularly high here.

My last 3 cats have come from CPL but still my 3 bedroom house would be inspected to make sure it is suitable! Once they have checked I am not an axe murderer it would appear I may have a chance!

I do not want a stray moving in because I do not want the cat to outlive me + the vet fees are now outrageous. Tara was 16 and uninsurable but my money was taken when she was two!
TOYA

Nannytopsy Tue 12-Jan-21 22:37:38

Evening all! Decorating finished and just got the cleaning up to do. And the ironing, windows to clean etc etc. Never mind it will be months before anyone visits!
Love your woodpecker Soop. I caught a passing glimpse of the sparrow hawk today and more birds are starting to sing. Blackbirds and robins joined in today.
Sleep well everyone

MawBe Wed 13-Jan-21 12:13:49

Catching up on all your news dear Kitcheners.
Don’t have any of my own .
Brief glimmer of excitement was that I was going to have the kitchen/dining room and utility room decorated next week (well, painted) but the daughters’ sharp intake of breath and “Mum, is that essential?” made me have second thoughts. I know the chap well and he would have taken every precaution but it was to take 2 days and the Covid figures around here (although not in the village) are dreadful, over 800 per 100,000 - so better safe than sorry and back to no news.
Heigh Ho.
Take care, all x
