I'm originally from UK now living in Australia since 1974 and was wondering if it's ok to be on this site. smile

It's a small world these days. I joined Gransnet right at the beginning but emigrated to New Zealand over seven years ago to be with my daughter and grandchildren. A lot of the topics discussed on Gransnet are specifically British, not least because of the effects of and political approach to Covid 19, but there are many other posts, some light-hearted, some serious and global and some just games. Choose where you want to post and don't be afraid of making your opinion clear.

Welcome Ehlana, news from far flung places is always welcome but especially from the antipodes where many of us have connections.
I grew up in Fiji but went to boarding school in Brisbane. Took my 11+ in England. Went to Uni in Brisbane, worked in Canberra for a time, back to Brisbane where two of our boys were born and finally returned to the UK late 70’s (homesick husband) and settled in Wales, three years in France but now back in Wales.
One son now in Perth and many old friends mainly in Queensland so I love to hear news of wonderful Australia. Apparently I still have a slight Aussie twang when I’m cross as in ‘go bite ya bum’. But also sometimes a bit of scouse having been born in Liverpool and lived there for my teenage years.
I hope you post often and send some of your lovely summer sunshine to us.

Hello, Ehlana! We don’t have family in Australia (do have some friends there, though) but Dh and I visited your country last year and had a wonderful time in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. It was a fairly last minute decision to go but boy, am I glad we didn’t delay until this year.

Will we have to eat Scotch eggs along with our champagne onboard the Emirates flight?

Adding to the welcomes Ehlana!
Are you coming back to your thread?

Pamela What makes you think Ehlana is a "she"?
Judging by all the effusive welcomes most have, but I'm hoping for another Grandad! tchgrin

Thats the year and not the time.
Sorry for late advice, only just spotted the programme.

Callistemon Tue 15-Dec-20 14:17:44

Thank you, DH is just having a look, not sure if we can get that programme.

Rufus2 Tue 15-Dec-20 14:49:56

Who’s Rufus?
Toad it Hole Me! Sorry to have kept you! Thanks for asking!
A Grandad, a rare sighting these days around these parts.

Not long ago we established that Yorkshire Pud. was Toad in the Hole minus the sausage.
So now we can assume that you are Yorkshire Pud with a sausage which has been a convoluted way of saying that you are a Grandad. True or False?
It's just that I have a subliminal image based on your nickname.! tchgrin
I'm a resident of Melbourne,. hence my interest in this thread. You can ask me anything!

Callistemon No!. Why? Are you selling/upsizing? tchhmm
Being the eldest of 3 siblings there was no chance of wearing hand-me-downs; blue is my colour, but no jeans please.
Completely unsuitable for any gentleman, and lady come to that, over 40.
Or are you ditching the drab beige look in favour of a return to the hot-pants era or even a Michael P. look-alike? tchgrin
Good Health
