Harry and Meghan have signed a podcast deal with Spotify and will produce their own shows, starting with a holiday special that will air this month.

Archewell Audio will 'uplift and entertain' and feature 'diverse perspectives and voices'

The couple said in a statement: 'What we love about podcasting is that it reminds all of us to take a moment and to really listen, to connect to one another without distraction.'

Sounds like a barrel of laughs. tchhmm

What a load of bitterness.

How can an oatmeal latte be bitter? I would have thought it was more creamy.

I hope they've gone easy on the Ashwagandha. I bought some as a supplement to reduce stress and anxiety.

I took one capsule and was climbing the walls all night. tchshock

Gawd! The Queen must be cringeing. Tackier and tackier.

Which bit? The fact we can't go on holiday at the moment?

The fact that if people tune in, then they will have found an audience.

If no one does, it’s one step closer for those who want them to go away, as they’ll be less likely to get a deal elsewhere.

I thought that was self explanatory.

A holiday special is a special put out over the holiday season. Again. Pretty self explanatory for those who aren’t trying to assign bad motives.

They are selling goodie bags ?

tidyskatemum Tue 15-Dec-20 18:44:27

God, they make me feel tired!

Jane10 Tue 15-Dec-20 18:51:13

I suppose by 'holiday' they mean what we call Christmas rather than the more usual holiday relating to a trip away somewhere in the summer.

Lollin Tue 15-Dec-20 18:59:59

Oh goodie another thread where we can peck peck peck- shame some will miss out as there is no mention of M&H in the title!

Ellianne Tue 15-Dec-20 19:00:07

Yes, Jane10, so will all these Americanisms they use, (either misunderstood or disliked over here), alienate them even more? I'm guessing they're going more for an audience residing in the US.

I bought a pack of two Christmas tea towels once from TK Maxx (an American company).
The one on the top said Ho, ho, ho!
The one underneath says "Happy Holiday"

I use one under the tree and the other to wipe the dishes, not hard to guess which is which.
tchgrin

The Plain English campaign comes to mind.

Its clearly acceptable on GN to be rabidly anti American.
Ah well, peck on !

Well, if "Happy Holiday" I is an Americanism, one I dislike, then yes, guilty as accused M'Lud.

I prefer Merry Christmas.

I'm fascinated by language, words and dialects. No racism at all.

Lost in translation?

We're so proper on 'ere

If someone talked to me about 'the holidays' I'd think they were talking about the summer holidays-what americans would call 'vacations' It would never occur to me to call Christmas 'the holidays'.
Two nations divided by a common language.

Ellianne Tue 15-Dec-20 21:01:49

As the DGD of a clergyman, I was always told the word holiday came from old English "holy" day. So Christmas sort of fits in with that?

It’s because there are many holidays celebrated in December. Not just Christmas.

It’s meant to be inclusive

merlotgran Tue 15-Dec-20 21:13:13

Has anybody else seen the trailer?

quizqueen Tue 15-Dec-20 21:25:10

I don't think the 'perspectives' will be very diverse. It will be all more ridiculous woke stuff. One day this couple may come to realise that not many people are actually interested in what they have to say about anything and Meghan will be wishing she hadn't got 12+ bathrooms to keep clean! Actually, Harry will probably end up doing them because it will all be his fault that things have gone badly wrong.

Jane10 Tue 15-Dec-20 22:02:14

Christmas and New Year in our family. Thanksgiving etc doesn't mean anything to us. We don't have to lazily sum up Christmas, New Year, Hanukkah, Diwali etc in one word.
