Had a lovely Zoom ‘meal’ with two of our friends and had a good chat and lots of laughter. Really cheered us up !

Vision Disturbances: "Aura" Without Headache?
Reading throught the threads this morning made me wonder if I should start a chatty thread, one that hopefully everyone could join in if they wished to do so.
As the Good Morningers know, after a lot of hassle with a blocked credit card, ( not me fault!), I bought a Santa lantern from Dobbies in their sale to replace one that I had, which had died.
When Santa arrived, he was leaning drunkenly against the glass, having had too much sherry on his rounds. There was no way I could fix it, as the unit was sealed.
I phoned Dobbies' customer service and got a very helpful young man, who mistakenly thought my name was Lady Marydoll I could visualise him bowing! I was going to wait to tell you all later that I have been given a seat in the House of Lords in the New Year's Honours list
We had a good laugh, when I tried to spell my email address using the phonetic alphabet, because I was hoarse and he was having difficulty with my Glasgow accent.
Anyway, I got a full refund without any hassle and the added bonus, I get to keep Santa!!
That simple exchange has really cheered me up. It may have started out with a simple request for a refund I didn't need to even ask in the end, but it became a social interaction with someone other than my DH.
I love him dearly, but oh I do need some other company! I'm now waiting to waylay the postman for a chat!

Ps many congratulations Supergirlsnan. What fabulous news on the safe arrival arrival of your grandson. Love to you all.
We both woke up
. Always a positive start to the day!
Well, it was yesterday really, my positive event. I met a friend for coffee at a local garden centre. We had a short walk first along what turned out to be a muddy road and then bought a take-away coffee and sat on our fold-up chairs near our cars. The weather was fine and we had a lovely chat. Hadn’t seen her in several months so lovely to get together. Only a small thing, but it meant a lot to both of us as we both have fairly busy social lives, normally, which have been seriously curtailed of late because of the pandemic. The current situation has certainly made me appreciate that human contact is so important.
My neighbour, who has been worried about Covid called to tell me she has had her first injection this am. She is delighted.
My DH came to the gym with me early this morning. Much more fun than going alone!??
Depressed by the prospect of not meeting the family for Christmas, but had a call from our GP booking DH and myself in for Covid vaccination at our local community centre next week. Best Christmas present ever!
Woken up this morning by a text to say DGS, aged two has tested negative for covid?
Also have had a lovely voice note from DGD aged five saying I love you grandma,I miss you grandma,I want to hug and kiss you for the rest of the day?it was actually several voice notes as she must have kept taking her finger off the microphone!
Yesterday I plucked up the courage to download the mobile banking app and deposit a cheque?sounds straightforward but it took a while!
DanniRae thinking of you and your family
Yesterday my best 'Teacher-friend' posted a card through the letter box.
It was hand-painted by his wife.
Inside was a photo of me and him and our favourite ever class (not that we have favourites of course, you'll know this Mary
).
They were a year 5 class (the best year imo), they should have done their GCSE s this year. A couple of them attended my current school.
It was such a kind thought, and such a lovely photo. We all looked so happy. It bought a tear to my eye.
What I'd give to go back just a few years...
Congratulations supergirlsnan on the arrival of your new grandson
Yesterday I found out that my teacher daughter tested positive for the virus BUT my daughter-in-law who is 7 months pregnant tested negative.
My daughter is not feeling unwell BTW
Lots of lovely news stories here, both great and small. Especially yours supergirlsnan
Two good things from me:
1. The large box which we hastily made up on Sunday of all DS, DDIL and DGC's Christmas presents now they will be having Christmas at home and not with us, was safely delivered to their house. Round of applause for DHL delivery drivers!
2. I got a new bike! Cycling has been a big part of my life over the past year and I'd been looking out for a better bike. Bought one off a Facebook forum which looks just right! Looking forward to new adventures with my cycling buddies.
I braced myself to attempt a supermarket shop today, fearing that there would be no car park spaces or that the shelves would have been stripped bare.
Much to my relief all was well. There were car park attendants pointing drivers down lanes which had spaces, and the shop was well stocked.
I am now all set for a siege!!
Congratulations supergirlnan best Christmas present ever.
Congratulations supergirlsnan what lovely news! ?
I had a surprise catch up with DD2 today, she’d finished work early and messaged to see if I’d like to meet in town for a coffee. Not what I’d planned to do today but so nice to be asked
Thank you for starting this lovely thread marydoll ?
Congratulations supergirlnan
We have just watched DVDs of DD2's girls in the Christmas shows. One was Jane Banks in Mary Poppins and one was a snowflake in The Snowman. They both sang solos and were both brilliant...... well we thoughts so!!!
Marydoll you did make me laugh.
I got a Christmas card from my daughter thanking me for being such a wonderful mum and always being there for her.
I have just heard that my son, a paramedic in London, has just had his first Covid vaccination. They have a huge number of NHS staff being done now.
Congratulation Supergirlsnan, wonderful news.
Absolutely...after my shift at the hospice shop ..picked up 4yr old hurricane up from school at 1p.m...and "grandma, be a dinosaur "...."grandma..pretend you're a crocodile "..."grandma..you can be superwoman because I love you so much!".....took him home..driving back I thought...well if I'm superwoman..alls right in my world..haha...
supergirlsnan congratulations on the new arrival. How lovely to have a new little grandson!
I met my 2 oldest GC and their mum and dad for a lovely walk today. Distanced but lovely to be in their company for an hour.
Oh and we were sent the COVID test result within an hour by txt, Both negative !!
DD 1 planned and executed a family quiz this evening, with us, her sister and 6 cousins this evening, all with Christmas hats on and decorations in the background.
It was nice so to see them all as we hadn’t seen any of them for over a year due to illness then Covid.
DD 2 is doing a Boxing Day one
Hope that we do better than we did tonight.
Congratulation Supergirlsnan. That is the best Christmas present ever. Enjoy every minute that you can. ?
We went for our COVID test today, there was a very long queue but we thought we had better get it over with so we stood there, after 3 minutes a young chap in a Hi Viz jacket came over and asked us to follow him. , so we did , he took us up in the lift to where the tests were being held, we where the fast tracked to the booths, did the test, and out again in less than 15 minutes, How nice of him , I think he maybe was told to look out for old people DH is 86 ,
That made our day and everyone inside the testing centre was so kind and caring.
That made our day ,
Congratulations Supergirlsnan from me too!
