Is Eddie brave in asking for she/her pronouns and staying in girl mode?

I wonder if it will become usual for men to do this.

Missingmoominmama Sun 10-Jan-21 10:41:25

The Daily Mail is the last place I’d look for any kind of balanced article!

NiceasMice Sun 10-Jan-21 10:49:28

You can usually judge a newspaper by the tone of the comments these days.

NiceasMice Sun 10-Jan-21 10:59:14

Meanwhile, back to Izzard and the mysterious effect of pronouns use upon others.

Is Izzard brave?
Izzard is doing a grand job running all those marathons for charity.

trisher Sun 10-Jan-21 11:03:03

That's weird I always thought the job of comedians was to make us laugh and Eddie Izzard does it so well. He/she isn't just a comedian anyway but a well known actor with many roles in film and TV. But Eddie did say "If they call me 'she' and 'her', that's great - or 'he' and 'him', I don't mind. I prefer to be called Eddie, that covers everything."
which I believe someone suggested earlier in this thread.

NiceasMice Sun 10-Jan-21 11:29:12

Yes, Eddie doesn't mind and now everyone else feels compelled to use those darn pronouns, even the Wikipedia page uses 'she'.
Like I said before, genius.

FarNorth Sun 10-Jan-21 11:37:44

The Sunday Times also has an article about evidence which was recently given in court.
I've started a separate thread on it but thought I'd link here too.

Thankyou FarNorth... that articleshock so many red flags with puberty blockers. I would have thought irreversable treatment given to children, affecting future fertility, affecting active sexual function and a diminished IQ would be enough red flags to ban the use.
But no, apparently not.

FarNorth Sun 10-Jan-21 16:41:01

Izzard looks quite unwell.
I hope he's getting his health properly monitored while he's doing all the marathons and performing.

He is talking rubbish, tho, about how tigers don't care what sex you are etc.
Obviously, tigers do care about what sex other tigers are.

?

NiceasMice Sun 10-Jan-21 18:15:47

I'm sure the tiger reference is to make us think the female (wild) tiger 'doesn't mind' the male attention and lets him do the deed. What doesn't get mentioned in a nature programme is the female might get a visit from a different male every day of the week. She doesn't mind this either. But of course the female tiger won't need money to keep the babies fed, housed and clothed like humans do.
She won't care about who the father is either.

Men eh?
They can't have it both ways.

trisher Sun 10-Jan-21 18:16:13

"Tigers don't care what sex you are" is just the sort of remark Eddie would make. He has whole routines about animals and their real thoughts including Horses wearing children and this clip about flies. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nx5HViV8wQ
I suppose if you don't get his sense of humour you wouldn't appreciate it.

NiceasMice Sun 10-Jan-21 19:08:21

"Tigers don't care what sex you are"
In the context of Lorraine's interview, a male tiger would be extremely interested in a female tiger.
Male pattern behaviour is not confined to humans. We all have to be careful, you know, just in case, we bump into a wrong 'un.

trisher Sun 10-Jan-21 20:52:38

He probably means Tigers don't care what sex you are when they eat you!

PECS Sun 10-Jan-21 21:18:59

Sorry have not read all posts on the 23 pages... so hope not repeating too much!
I recently listened to Izzard reading her memoir and she sounded warm & genuine.. and has obviously been through a lot of personal struggle to get to her current point. She admitted clumsy errors and having done foolish things... unhappy times too..but she says she feels more content now.

FarNorth Mon 11-Jan-21 03:08:45

trisher indeed, tigers probably don't care what sex you are when they eat you - which is much what Izzard said. As some sort of justification for trans ideology, which he was trying to promote, that's irrelevant.
Tigers do know what sex other tigers are.
Just as humans know what sex other humans are, unless it's deliberately disguised.
(And I'm not talking about hairstyles and clothing.)

FarNorth Mon 11-Jan-21 03:11:04

PECS I agree with what you say, however Izzard is not a woman.

Sparkling Mon 11-Jan-21 06:19:51

If Izard was without make up and women's clothes, his body is male. He has no womb or breasts, so he is male but obviosly something inside him makes him feel like a woman. I can't understand it and unless he has operations to remove his male parts and drugs to make him grow breasts thats what he is. He wants to be called she as it validates his inner feelings. I find it very sad, but as long as he doesn't want to use ladies loos or changing rooms, kind to respect his wishes, never liked his humour at all.

FarNorth Mon 11-Jan-21 11:05:01

Sparkling he is a male regardless of what he does to, or with, his body.

FarNorth Mon 11-Jan-21 11:06:56

Btw, he has said he doesn't mind if he's called he, she or Eddie.
