Good Morning Everyone,
Its wet and windy here in Brackley this morning , no doubt with a Storm coming in.
Usual quiet day for me may pop out later but will see, very limited as to apart from a walk and maybe a small shop nothing is happening.
Take care,
Mick

Lins1066 Sun 27-Dec-20 08:21:50

Good morning Mick and all, quiet now here on the S Welsh coast but what a stormy night, high winds and heavy rain. Mr Lins had to go out about 11.45pm to retrieve some heavy teak garden chairs that were blowing about, goodness knows where the large cover is. He was literally dripping when he came in. I feel for those who are experiencing flooding.
Lovely poem Ashcombe. Family FaceTime later so looking forward to that.
Have a good day everyone and stay safe.

Morning all. My bit of Leicestershire is pretty much the same as dragonfly's. Dark and damp.

We had a quiet day yesterday and it looks like today will be the same and the day after that and the........!!

Great poem Ashcombe. Kate I too was born to have servants!

Have the best day possible everyone.

Gilly, if you are reading this please pop in!

Good Morning from a calmer N. Bucks.
Not fully functioning yet as I had a disturbed night of very odd dreams

Great poem Ashcombe

We all enjoyed our Escape Room game on zoom yesterday as you can see we did escape.

Just some tidying and bit and bobs today, maybe a short walk .

Hope you all find a?.

Good morning from N Hants. Weather calmer now after Bella made her presence known last night.

Great poem Ashcombe, thank you.

Quiet day today, think I’ll catch up on some Christmas programmes. Would normally have browsed in the sales, but online sale shopping just isn’t the same.

Be safe, and best wishes to all who are struggling

Viridian Sun 27-Dec-20 08:28:59

Morning everyone from a wet, windy south Cornwall. Great poem Ashcombe! (Strange having two Good Morning threads. ?) Home again after two nights at my son's, such a treat. Didn't get the drill I was expecting from Secret Santa, but I do have the entire collection of Miss Marple DVDs. Fantastic. The shelving will have to wait till my birthday ha ha.

A potentially shapeless day today but I will fill it with reading and craft and Miss Marple. Have the best day you can, everyone.

Good morning all and the weather has quietened down here in Essex. The conservatory roof is still leaking so we have towels down. ?.

We had a lovely walk with DS1 and family yesterday. I was surprised more people weren’t about. We said we would do it again on Monday and bring a flask of mulled wine and another with hot chocolate. We are lucky to have family close by.

Ashcombe well done ??. I love poetry and rhymes. My SIL has had some of hers published and my GD won the the school poetry prize.
Dwm your little Xmas table looks great. Poor Santa, caged up! ?. I bet your little Gd’s loved it.

We’ll have another cosy day in after taking little pooch out. We both have new books to read so will start in one of them. Of course more eating and drinking to be done.

Stay safe, and let’s all just try to enjoy what we have. ?. Not what we have not. ?

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's very cold. I plan to get out for a walk today. It's exactly a month since I lost DH. Although I am alone, I don't feel alone...yet.
Well done on the verse Ash and the funny outdoor table scene dwm
I think a phonecall to DB is an excellent idea Sar I may follow suit.

Hope we all have some lovely moments (Thankyou Cherry) today.

Pittcity Sun 27-Dec-20 08:37:47

Good morning from a damp but warmer Colchester.
The storm passed over here at 2am but was short lived. It woke me up but left little damage.
Another quiet day which will be the usual pattern for many weeks to come.
I may have to nip to Lidl or get a takeaway as we have almost finished the leftovers!

harrigran Sun 27-Dec-20 08:39:33

Good morning from the NE where it seems a little calmer.
It was very noisy during the night with torrential rain and crashes and bangs.
Managed two small meals yesterday and got through the night without pain so a bit happier this morning.
Found a series on Netflix that we hadn't seen before and watched three episodes last night, will finish watching today.
Cold turkey for lunch today, I enjoy it more than having it served hot on Christmas day.
Going to be a cold day so stay snug.

Gingster Sun 27-Dec-20 08:47:12

What’s the series called harrigran I’m always in the look out for a new one? ?

Greyduster Sun 27-Dec-20 09:01:12

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The day is clearing here in South Yorkshire after what looks like a night of heavy rain. I had a sedentary day nursing a sore hip yesterday but the house needs a clean and tidy today, before we launch into eating the final lot of leftovers! Oh joy! I will then make soup with the ham stock and a turkey curry for the freezer. I have come to the conclusion that turkey is a very overrated bird. Whatever you have planned for your Sunday, enjoy it and stay safe folks.

Anniebach Sun 27-Dec-20 09:01:44

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Susan56 Sun 27-Dec-20 09:01:52

Good morning from Shropshire. It was very stormy yesterday evening and overnight but has calmed down now.

Love the poem Ash.

Thank you for all the good wishes for DH.His knee is painful and he is very bruised so a day of rest for him today.

I plan to spend most of the day reading.Just need to decide which book to start.

Have a good day all.

Jaxjacky Sun 27-Dec-20 09:06:31

Good morning all from a calmer S Hants, it blew and poured last night, a disturbed night, not helped by me being a bit ‘bunged up’ which had to be resolved at 4am, feeling better now.
Sar53 we watched Hidden Figures too, it was excellent. Ashcombe clever writing, I can turn my hand a bit too, in fact two presents (magazine subscriptions) were given as cards with appropriate ditty’s in.
The bbq is having a party with the chiminea after the wind, DH will sort that later, no other plans except I’ll be getting a beef stew in the slow cooker later for dinner,
Have a gentle day all.

Stilllearning Sun 27-Dec-20 09:15:33

Good morning from S Lanarkshire, well that was a surprise, pulled down the blind to pouring rain and raised it to total snow covering.
Great poem Ashcombe???! The ability to make people smile is a special gift.
Nankate, I had an aunt who used to say that I was ‘a lady that wasn’t wanted!’
An unexpected but very enjoyable long phone call from B and SiL in Canada, last night. It was nice feeling to realise we could just ‘pick up’ again with no problem.
Oh, snow’s back on, it was a good decision to come home yesterday from my lovely Christmas break!
Wishing everyone a peaceful safe day.

dogsmother Sun 27-Dec-20 09:17:44

Morning all, football match for me today hopefully the rain stays away.
Hope you all have a lovely day and keep a bit of Christmas spirit going.

grandMattie Sun 27-Dec-20 09:18:57

Greyduster, I don’t like turkey, but DH loves it, so I give him a huge bird for Christmas and tell him I don’t neglect him!

For those who wish for servants, I was brought up with them. Although I loved them dearly, I would loathe to have someone in now. I shall need a cleaner in the not too distant future, but am certainly not looking forward to it!

Nannytopsy Sun 27-Dec-20 09:20:03

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
Like the rest of the country, Suffolk had heavy rain and howling gales last night but this morning there is some blue sky among the very heavy clouds. Our new greenhouse stood up to it’s first test!
We watched Hidden Figures last night and I was enjoying it. I sadly fell asleep, so I shall watch the rest later ?.
Loved the cold turkey, ham, pickles etc last evening and will do the same tonight.
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Marydoll Sun 27-Dec-20 09:23:52

God morning all from a cold and cloudy Glasgow. Not planning to do much today.

Great poem Ashcombe, DH can't understand my love for poetry.

Harrigran, glad to hear there is some improvement.

Have a pleasant, restful day everyone.

Grandmabatty Sun 27-Dec-20 09:27:22

Good morning All. I got up to snow falling but so far not lying in Polmont. I'm heartily glad about that as I'm taking ds back to Stirling later. I did very little yesterday. I drove ds to meet a friend for a walk as the weather was awful then I read one of my christmas books. Dinner was vegetarian /vegan and I enjoyed it very much, to my surprise. The nut roast was lovely but the vegan pigs under duvets were outstanding. I had made tirasemu as a special request. Ashcombe excellent rhyming! Once I have dropped ds off I shall potter about and tidy up and enjoy being on my own again. I hope you all have a good day.

Stilllearning Sun 27-Dec-20 09:29:25

Forgot to say baubles, glad your husband is picking up and roll on the vaccine for that meet up!

Grandmabatty Sun 27-Dec-20 09:36:15

Tiramisu. Good grief. The spell checker on my phone is clearly having a bad day.

Urmstongran Sun 27-Dec-20 09:45:47

Good morning everyone from South Manchester where after an evening and night of torrential rain, it’s calm and dry now.

It’s our youngest daughter’s 40th birthday today. No celebration allowed but we and other family & their friends have been given time slots (you can tell she’s a teacher!) to go round and stand in the front garden for a glass of pink Moët and a slice of this gorgeous cake! Apparently it's chocolate with orange ganache. Our appointment is 2pm. Strange times indeed eh?
?

Hope Sunday is kind to us all. Love your poem Ash you are as I’ve said before, our very own resident poet Laureate! I have no skills whatsoever. None. I could have pretended I’d made my daughter’s cake? Ha! Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Grandmafrench Sun 27-Dec-20 09:47:36

Good Morning everyone. Calm and sunny today - I feel more like that too!

Hoping that everyone who is/has been poorly is making a good recovery, and that every Good Morning Gran can help themselves to a big pat on the back for huge efforts made. Yuletide in very uncertain, very difficult and trying times! It’s pretty much a mission at the best of times, but this year.....well, have we jumped through hoops or what!!!!!!

Let’s look forward - some of my pots of Crocus are showing and in the shelter of our barbecue area, I can see one of the summer’s pots of flowers still in bloom. I’ve never wished harder, or ever, for a year end or for precious time to pass. But this year - let’s have done with it. It will be consigned to the bin in this house - along with anything else which is just rubbish. No recycling needed or wanted there.

We’re off for a walk, we’ll refill the log basket and spend a peaceful day. Sometimes I feel that the post Christmas days can be more special than the day itself.

Enjoy your days, whatever you’re up to. Hugs and further reminders to please keep safe, from us in ?‍♀️??

NannyJan53 Sun 27-Dec-20 09:49:06

Good Morning from a bright and sunny Black Country.

Yesterday was quiet, just a walk along the canal, then cold meats, salad and chips for dinner.

DD rang earlier to suggest meeting up for a walk, so that will be the plan for today.

Great poem Ashcombe

Wishing you all a good day, with special thoughts to all feeling unwell or down flowers
