Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but looking cold outside here in Brackley this morning.
No sign of any snow yet here though.
Quiet day for me some laundry and housework today .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning everyone from a very cold Surrey. Its white with frost out there but wont bother me as I am going nowhere!
I might make a start on a new cross stitch today, Amazon delivery of new fish tank bits and that (very) large box of chocs has been calling! Other than that what happens happens.
Stay safe all.

grandMattie Mon 28-Dec-20 09:29:42

Urms, keep your lights and decorations. I knew someone who used to keep his Christmas tree and decs until Candlemas! And that is 6 weeks after Christmas... so you can “legally” keep the cheer for another 39 days!

Morning everyone ..welcome to flicker...a light covering of snow in Bolton...need to find something to busy myself with...not slept properly at all...definitely noticing a decline in H..re his memory/confusion...too much to write down but its playing havoc with my stress levels
Anyway..boots on and a walk on the moors first...do take care all.?

Good morning everyone. No snow here, blue sky with fluffy clouds instead - not sure how long that will last.

Another quiet day today here I think, I think my WP has passed his sniffle on to me. Seems to be a theme ? with some of you today, I don't know where he picked it up from either. Sending ? for a speedy recovery to you all, they shouldn't attack the sinuses ?

Ashcombe, I didn't study music past foundation level but I too wrote lyrics, like my poetry also eons ago, but that was for a band. They didn't get very far ?

Thanks again Lins and Susan for your well wishes. I've had a few good nights now ☺️

Welcome Flicker ?

It would be lovely to see gillybob posting, I hope she comes back soon.

Take care everyone, stay cosy and warm and look after yourselves ❤️

Urmstongran Mon 28-Dec-20 09:49:04

Oh thanks for that grandMattie! I shall then. Seems silly to be superstitious but ....
?

Urmstongran Mon 28-Dec-20 09:51:17

Actually, now I come to think about it, I’m sure I read somewhere that the Queen keeps her decorations up until Candlemas. I just didn’t know when that was! I suppose it makes for cosier winter nights and in my book that has to be a good thing, to dispel the dark and gloom.

Good morning Mick, Annie, and all, from a very frosty bit of Berks. Woke up late, again, this morning, and when DH brought my tea, and opened the curtains, the sky was very apricot coloured. So I stayed in bed and finished my book, which had an unsatisfactory ending!
Had a tiny bit of microwaved christmas pudding and cold custard, for breakfast. Odd, but I enjoyed it, as I love cold custard.
Marydoll, I am sorry that you are feeling a bit down, but glad that you do post. I love your novellas, and look forward to reading them again, in the not too distant future.
We have got lots of lovely bits and pieces to feast on in the coming days, so who knows what will be on the menu. Reminds me of the late Jimmy Young when he used to say, " what's the recipe for today", or something similar.
Lots of Good Mornigers with problems, but if I go back to find them, I will lose my post, so wishing you and your other halves, a speedy recovery.
Still no news of Gilly? Perhaps she will pop up soon?

Definitely no short walk for us today, so knitting, TV, and keeping warm.
Have a good day one and all, and I had forgotten that it is a Bank Holiday. tchconfused

On another thread yesterday I noticed Flicker introduce herself and that someone recommended she join this thread. I’ve never looked in before but what a gentle, companionable place it is. I think I’ll look in often to start my day with a warm, cheery feeling.

Urmstongran Mon 28-Dec-20 09:58:02

I do love your optimism and upbeatness (a made up word) Grandmafrench. You do cheer us all up. I wish you could bottle your enthusiasm and we could take it like a tonic. That said I get how Marydoll must be feeling regards semi-estrangement with son & family. I know she adores her wee granddaughter and I subscribe to the view that a mum can only be as happy as her unhappiest child.

I sincerely hope the NY brings your son and his family back closer to you all Marydoll. x

Go for it, girl. If it’s good enough for Her Maj, it’s good enough for you! ?

Urmstongran Mon 28-Dec-20 10:00:44

Welcome to you too Juliet27 ?
We like to know where you’re posting from, what the weather is like and most importantly, the value of your ?

Good morning all from a very co,d, frosty Glasgow

I have been off searching for my mojo and thankfully found it!

I went a bit OTT with white fairy lights this year, especially in the garden. They look so pretty that I have decided to leave them there to add a bit of much needed sparkle.

Have a pleasant day all.

Juliet27 Mon 28-Dec-20 10:05:50

Ha ha Urmstongran. You want bank details too?! Well, you wouldn’t want to come near as I’m in the dreaded plague ridden South East.

grandMattie Mon 28-Dec-20 10:08:27

Come on, Juliet, don’t be coy, we all ant to know... and which part of SE? I’m in the most plague ridden part of E Kent after Swale!

Keeleklogger Mon 28-Dec-20 10:08:30

Good morning everybody, thick snow here in Keele 3 inches at least and cold

Urmstongran Mon 28-Dec-20 10:09:25

Ooh no, not your bank details Juliet27 - remember please that this is a public forum. You can p.m. those to me later.

Hi welcome ? there are a few of us from S E on here,

grandMattie Mon 28-Dec-20 10:11:37

And, Urms, remember the dreaded 6-week checkup after childbirth? That’s what Candlemas is, with the presentation of the Christ child to the temple and Simeon’s “Nunc Dimmitis”.

Urmstongran Mon 28-Dec-20 10:13:24

Thank you grandMattie for that. Honestly I’ve learnt so much being a part of GN. It’s brilliant! x

Juliet27 Mon 28-Dec-20 10:16:14

I’m the other side from you Grandmattie W. Kent on the Sussex Border. It’s still and cloudy out there...I’ve only just looked out as I’m still in bed having had a lovely long chat with my son in Australia. It’s about time I got my day started.

grandMattie Mon 28-Dec-20 10:16:37

?. We’re a nice bunch aren’t we? Pat on the back and BIG hug to all

LauraNorder Mon 28-Dec-20 10:20:33

Good morning Mick and all. Sorry Pant wish I could send you some sun from Anglesey but at least it’s dry and still. An hour ago there was a huge black cloud to the west and sun in the east giving that beautiful light that makes the colours so vivid. Now it’s just dull.
Welcome to Juliet and Flicker, hope to see you often.
flowers to Marydoll
flowers to all with colds, sniffles, gippy tummies and pain
Keep those lights up Urms, we need all the sparkle we can get.
Thanks for sharing a bit of sunshine Grandmafrench.
Thinking about you farview, can’t be easy flowers
You too Travelsafar, hope your other half recovers well flowers.
Wishing you all a better day
And flowers for all, well why not.

Good morning from an alpine, snowy scene in the north of Scotland. All the village folks are trudging past to local fields with sledges and cameras. The birds are silent and unseen so far. I have put out seed and water; will check every so often that it is not frozen. Will be trying for “that” robin photo but when the camera appears, even behind the window, off it flies.
There are a remarkable number of strangers around so I am still keeping myself hidden away.
Estrangement weighs heavily on the heart. Yet again, no contact with my sibling who had no contact with my parents and insisted that I follow his line. I didn’t. I am so grateful for my family and their partners and the fun we make for ourselves.
I’m watching the neighbours build a snowman for their baby! The adults are so happy, the baby looks puzzled. ?
Best wishes to you all today in this limbo we are in.

Ashcombe Mon 28-Dec-20 10:27:34

So pleased to see you on here, Juliet27! It’s the perfect start to every day! Welcome also to Flicker.
Thank you for sharing your snowy pics, Urmstongran, Shropshirelass and NannyJan53 plus the delightful white tailed deer, Grammaretto!
My thoughts are with Marydoll who has so much on her mind....I hope you find some comfort in the concern of your GM friends.

Gwenisgreat1 Mon 28-Dec-20 10:30:37

Good Morning all from chilly Harrogate. This morning I shall be talking to my school friend in Alloway. Apart from that nothing planned, making soup for lunch, getting big fluffy jacket from the attic (ready for icy weather). Taking the dog for a walk, then Stovies this evening
Yesterday was emailing my cousin in Canada (thought she was dead cause I hadn't hear from her). she'd changed her email address. Catching up with her and her five offspring.
Now I'm trying to catch up on housework, it will be washing floors today!!
Will try to catch up on everyone later today

Hope its a peaceful day for all
