Only’ put on 5lbs this week - DH has put on 10 without trying! That’s what happens as soon as we eat carbs. ?

Some of that could be due to water retention, Nannytopsy as that is what carbs tend to do.

Gillybob? If so, she is much missed by many and I do hope she is all right.
She had a lot to contend with.

I lurked on GN this time last year for a couple of months, but never had the time to join in the discussions.
So, I recognise a lot of names from last year, but one name I havent seen is someone called Gilly something? She was from the north east and for some reason, she is on my mind ?
As I say, I am new, so if this is not the done thing, just shout at me!

I actually went to see my son, it made absolutely no difference and it was quite distressing. I have made all the approaches, to no avail.

Good afternoon to all of you lovely ladies and gentlemen , it's a very cold grey afternoon here in Cambridgeshire not at all nice.
Marydoll .. we were estranged from our only daughter and her family for eight years which was very hard because we didn't know why. Last May I sent a very short email to the only email address I had telling her that no matter how many years went by her dad and I would always love and miss her and the family , I didn't hear anything for weeks so I began to assume the email address was no longer active , then out of the blue I got a very short reply that just said 'hello Mum' and that was the new beginning that has allowed us to start to rebuild our family . I do so understand how sad the situation with you DS is making you , keep having hope and who knows what next year will bring .

Good morning all from the Angus coast. The sun is shining on the hills and also lighting up the little fishing village on the point about twenty miles up the coast. No snow here, but loving the snow pics from around the country. I especially love the one of the three deer in your garden Grammaretto - such beautiful creatures. They come into the field behind my house from time to time and somewhere I have a photo of one with its head over my fence having a good look round.

So sorry to hear your DH is in hospital travelsafar - best wishes and prayers for his speedy recovery. Also sorry that you are feeling so low Marydoll. I hope you will feel stronger after some rest. Lots of love to you.

There`s nothing new to report from here - just the predictable post-Christmas blues plus a dose of Lockdown-again-blues! Sound familiar, anyone? I sobbed through The Sound of Music last night which I suppose made me feel better! I also enjoyed and was intrigued by The Black Narcissus and am looking forward to Part 2 tonight. Until then it`s a spot of tidying and titivating and generally filling time as pleasantly as possible. Have the best day everyone. Lots of love. (I`ve written this on DS2`s old laptop which he has cleared and renovated for me, so no emojis today).

Morning Mick and all from Cold Comfort Farm on the west coast, the heating doing a prima donna and comes on and off at will. Must get it sorted.
Wore a favourite skirt after a long time on Christmas Day to go with my seasonal red jumper and found I could not get the zip up. Need to get more active. Wish the weight would move upwards and transform me into a 38B bust, but no such luck.
Last couple of days with son, lots of The Chase and University Challenge as we compete with each other for the right answers.
A smattering of seasonal white on the lawn.

What a busy thread this morning. A lot of us feel a bit post-Christmassy even though we haven’t had a proper Christmas. I would like to take the tree down but DH wants it to stay, so it will. Instead I have cleaned the disgusting oven and it is now so sparkling I don’t want to sully it by using it, which rather defeats the object. Bedding in the machine so ironing later, but nothing else to give shape to the day. DH is having a very detached sort of day so not much conversation. TV and books it is, then.

I thought it was just another Manic Monday so put on a load of washing, then realised it is a Bank Holiday - thank you Mick!

We did have a sprinkling of snow here and I expect the Black Mountains have had more than a sprinkle but we're staying in the warm today. It's raining now which has washed away what little snow we had.

A day for hunkering down and keeping warm

Loved the snowy pictures especially those little deer, oh I love the animals. Imagine those little chaps in the garden ? Heaven.

Loved that pic of the snow in Shropshire, Shropshirelass. I lived near Market Drayton back in the early 80s and the children were most impressed by the huge snowdrifts we had in our lane. They had never seen anything like it and we had to be dug out by a snow plough after a few days.

Damp and has been raining rather than snowing---not been cold enough. Not a million miles from Urmston but so different weatherwise. The salt air puts paid to any festive weather.

Disturbed by the yapping fox again and because I have my bedroom window open I had to jump up to close it in case either the cats jumped out or the fox jumped in it was then 4am before I re-settled.
The old Tom goes missing when the fox is around so he isn't in his kennel this morning and hasn't had his breakfast.

Hermit mode has set-in again as it'll be nearly a week since being outdoors---not even a trip to local shops as there's nothing I need so I'm staring around the room and it looks as though a bomb's hit it so that'll be my first job for the day to get it tidied, nothing much else.

Just glancing at the weather forecast for the next few days has lifted me a bit, sunshine ! It'll be on the cold side but the brightness makes all the difference.

Marydoll, say what you have to do and how you feel,. you're among friends here and we all think of each other x . I went to bed thinking about travelsafar and the worry of her DH and how I'd be feeling. Sending

Well, Christmas Day is as far away as ever now and not particularly the enjoyable time that we've so loved over the years so let's hope for better times ahead like the lighter nights and Spring !

Good Morning all from chilly Harrogate. This morning I shall be talking to my school friend in Alloway. Apart from that nothing planned, making soup for lunch, getting big fluffy jacket from the attic (ready for icy weather). Taking the dog for a walk, then Stovies this evening
Yesterday was emailing my cousin in Canada (thought she was dead cause I hadn't hear from her). she'd changed her email address. Catching up with her and her five offspring.
Now I'm trying to catch up on housework, it will be washing floors today!!

Good morning from an alpine, snowy scene in the north of Scotland. All the village folks are trudging past to local fields with sledges and cameras. The birds are silent and unseen so far. I have put out seed and water; will check every so often that it is not frozen. Will be trying for “that” robin photo but when the camera appears, even behind the window, off it flies.
There are a remarkable number of strangers around so I am still keeping myself hidden away.
Estrangement weighs heavily on the heart. Yet again, no contact with my sibling who had no contact with my parents and insisted that I follow his line. I didn’t. I am so grateful for my family and their partners and the fun we make for ourselves.
I’m watching the neighbours build a snowman for their baby! The adults are so happy, the baby looks puzzled. ?

Good morning Mick and all. Sorry Pant wish I could send you some sun from Anglesey but at least it’s dry and still. An hour ago there was a huge black cloud to the west and sun in the east giving that beautiful light that makes the colours so vivid. Now it’s just dull.
