A Happy Birthday to your husband Scentia ? enjoy the cake.
HMRC slightly angry is an understatement
Sewing on Girl Guide badges, aaargh!!
Welsh Senedd Election - PR in action. This will be interesting!
Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark, and looks dry and cold outside here in Brackley this morning.
Today , do a small shop this morning await a delivery of cosy foot slippers .
Yesterday, thanks to Facebook, had a request from a cousin of mine to become a friend , have used the message system to catch up on things .
Take Care,
Mick
A Happy Birthday to your husband Scentia ? enjoy the cake.
Hello and good morning everyone from a very frosty Northampton. It actually looks rather pretty, with the sky being layered with pink and gold clouds.
What good news about Iris. She will be pleased to look forward to be going back to school. Not how I used to feel when I was teaching, I'm afraid! One thing I do miss from those days is the company of colleagues.
I managed to get my new coffee machine set up and working yesterday, and realised that my cups and mugs do fit after all. I just had to remove the cup stand to make room for larger mugs. The coffee was very good.
A Sainsbury's delivery at lunchtime, and then a visit to the hospital outpatients this afternoon. I am really quite worried about going but it is a necessary appointment, so I must put my big girl pants on and try to stay safe. Think I have been awake most of the night worrying.
Waiting to make my cup of tea as I have not long taken my once a week tablet, and must wait half an hour.
Hope all have a good day.
Good morning all from a frosty, clear S Hants. Ashcombe see photo re European post, not sure why though. Good news on Iris, what progress! No real plans today, I’ll finalise my shopping delivery list for tomorrow, tree will need a water, it’s done really well. Cottage pie to make for tea and chasing up a Moonpig birthday card that should be here by now.
Have a peaceful day all.
Good morning from Morecambe Bay where it is 2 degrees. better than rain, we have had so much recently. Will walk later. Good to hear that there is visible improvement with little Iris’s legs. I’m sure she will enjoy her hydrotherapy.
Take care stay safe everyone ?
Good morning from a bright but cold Black Country, where there is still plenty of snow and ice around.
No real plans today, may drive over to Mums and have a walk with her. Concerned recently as she said a couple of things the last couple of days which shows her short term memory is not what it was. ie saying she hasn't been to the hairdressers since March, when in fact when they re-opened in July she went every 2 weeks! Yet on Christmas day she beat us both hands down at Boggle the word game. She will be 91 on Sunday
Fantastic news about Iris grandMattie I am sure you are all so much happier now.
Good news about the Oxford vaccine. Hopefully this is the beginning of our entry into some normality
Wishing you all a pleasant and safe day
Good morning from a frosty, clear, N Hants.
Such good news on here today about 2 young people and the Oxford vaccine being approved. I’m now waiting for my daughter and her husband to get back test results. ?they are negative.
I join everyone else in assuring Marydoll that you never have to apologise for wobbling. I am always full of admiration for your resilience and ability to think of everyone else first. ?
Another good morning from S Lanarkshire, your little dog looks very happy in his smart red coat baubles!
My local daughter’s dog won’t tolerate one and really suffers from the heat in the summer.
Just heard about the Oxford vaccine being approved, thanks be. Also delighted to hear of Iris’ great progress, wonderful news grandMattie Excitement today is a zoom call for all the ‘elders’ in the family set up by Canadian branch. Given the level of most of our technical ability, it may well be a short call!
I haven’t really been able to settle for the last couple of days and only read the posts from the last couple of days, last night, and I was so sorry to hear about all the challenges confronting many of us. Whoever said ‘Old age isn’t for sissies’ wasn’t wrong and that was without throwing in a pandemic. It’s good to have this warm safe space’ to air worries and sadness that we would normally only share with close friends, sometimes family are just too close,
Best thoughts and prayers to evyeho needs them.
Good morning Mick and all.
Freezing cold here in Bolton with a sort of icy fog...cant see past our garden fence into the fields...off for a walk up to Winter hill mast...its quite a trek
marydoll..similar going on here with H and his memory..
Glad little Iris is recovering well.
Take care everyone..hope is out there now with news of the Oxford vaccine ??
Good morning Mick and the GM team from east London, where it is sunny and bright. There was pink in the sunrise this morning.
It was brisk yesterday but not so cold as to prevent me having a walk, unlike some other parts of the country. I should be able to have a walk today, too.
Lovely to hear about Iris’ progress Mattie. She’s a brave little soul, you must all be proud of her. ⭐️
I have an issue of some long standing to sort out with HMRC and I have decided to do it in January. I don’t think I will spend the last days of the year in a complicated communication with the Tax Office.
Thinking of those facing challenges or with poorly loved ones. Take care, keep warm and stay safe.
Good morning from a frosty Colchester. Another lie in. Seems my hibernation mode has kicked in. Will we ever want to go out again?
Another vaccine so the faint glimmer is almost visible.
Guess what? I've no plans today again!!
a warm ? on this very chilly morning. No snow at yet in Essex but I think it will come.
We aren’t doing too well Covid-wise here In Essex are we GG and Sar. Worst in the country ?. We’re hunkering down and staying put!
Lovely DIL got us some shopping yesterday but I really do like to do our own. I forget things for the list and already am thinking ‘I could have done with (whatever)’.
GD1 and her dad stopped by yesterday on the way to see her mum and siblings. They stood on the drive with their masks on and we put ours on. (Strange world that we are now in ). They handed over gifts and we had a little chat but it was far too cold to stand for long. So sad not to be able to have them in and give them a hug. DG blew kisses and looked tearful. She’s been told not to go back to Uni until further notice. It’s not the experience she was so excited for.
Well done Iris for progressing so well. ?
Nothing doing today, so will finish my book, written by Dawn French, not bad! I have the Richard Osman book next but it’s got bad reviews. He’s such a quick witted and humorous man, I had great hopes for it. Oh well, I’ll give it a go. ?
Keep your chin up Marydoll and all others with uphill struggles. ?
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good Morning All x.
By jove it's parky this morning. I let the cats out earlier and the air hit me like an electric shock. No snow in this particular area ,yet there was a covering everywhere else. Not that I'm worried but it does seem strange that it missed us.
A heavy shower of hailstones at the moment. It sounds as though someone's throwing stones at the windows
D paid a fleeting visit last night and brought me two cartons of Thornton's chocolate ginger which I love. I used to devour tons of it in the past when we had a shop in the village. I mustn't be too greedy with it ! D was on her way to replenish stocks after feeding her hungry mob.
The children did so well for Christmas after the turbulent year they've had and the retired headmaster from the school even called with a big bag of sweets. This is the chap who'd continually called during the summer bringing home-made cakes, lovely man.
What good news about Iris, she's really come on, bless her.
Glad to hear about Mick's messaging to his cousin too, it does help to exchange conversations in times like these and is an added interest to mundane days.
That calendar has reminded me to get one as I'll be lost without looking out for Birthdays and things. Just a plain one with big numbers does me, and a space to write.
Ebay here I come.
Nothing much doing today, just eating and keeping warm being the main thing, then watch a repeat of Catherine Cookson's A Dinner of Herbs.
I hope everyone is remaining well and staying safe along with the poorly DH's who hopefully are on the mend.
Bitterly cold where Marydoll is so no putting your nose out of the front door, take it easy.
Have as good a day as you all possibly can.xx
Good Morning all, it’s frosty and still here in Co Armagh, no snow !
I’ve no plans for today , yesterday I finished making eldest sons birthday card , several birthdays happening in the family over the next wee while
Good morning All from a very cold and very frosty Polmont. My quiet day yesterday ended up not being quiet! My oldest friend visited with a piece of Christmas cake she had made. I deliberately didn't make one this year as my family don't eat it so it was lovely to have a piece. I cleared my very long path of snow and put salt down too. It's good to see it's still clear this morning. So today will be a quiet day! I have no need to go anywhere. I will have pea and ham soup for lunch. I made a pot yesterday and have frozen the rest. Then mince for tea. Good to hear how Iris is progressing so well, Grandmattie. I'm sure grey school trousers will be no problem to your clever needle. A happy birthday to MrScentia. I hope he has a lovely day. My ds had bought a new car as I said yesterday. The garage phoned him last night to say that a member of staff had slid on black ice while in another car and had ploughed right into ds's car! So the deal is off and he's back to square one. He's a very unhappy bunny. I'm off to make my second cup of coffee. Not a chamberpot, as Pantsglas would say, just a little one. Have a good day all.
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a frosty South Yorkshire. What remains of yesterday’s snow will now be frozen. Oh joy!
I had a calendar from my cousin in Ireland yesterday, produced by their small community which has some very talented photographers among its number, of which he is one. He sends me one every year, and I get seriously envious when I see photos of where he lives, about as far north as you can get without falling into the sea, but even there they aren’t sheltered from Covid.
Nothing much to do for me today except some laundry. DH will start the new jigsaw that Santa brought him. I have promised him a meat and potato pie for supper. Christmas is well and truly behind us in this house!
Have a good safe day folks.
Good morning all, still very cold here in Glasgow. ?
I have to collect a prescription today from our local pharmacy. I normally enjoy the walk there and back but although the snow is disappearing, I will drive there, not taking any chances of slipping and sliding. My car, which has been lying idle far too often could do with a run so I will go for a tootle and class this as a day out! ?
Have a pleasant day all.
Good morning from North Yorkshire. There was a lovely sunrise and it looks set to be a bright day but very chilly. I have some washing on and need to strip the bed. Other than that it’s reading, knitting and jigsaw again.
Pleased to hear Iris is doing so well. Happy birthday Mr S
The vaccine news is very welcome as cases rise.
Hope today is kind to everyone. Stay safe.
Good morning everyone. Glorious sunshine here and just right for another beach walk. So clear we can see thick snow on mountains in distant Spain. Being out along the water’s edge feels like normal life and is balm for the soul in these drag end days of a year we just want rid of.
Very pleased to hear such news of Iris, GrandMattie. It must be such a relief to be called into action for school trousers...seems only 5 minutes since she had surgery, (probably not like that for her, or you, of course.) That superb quilt yesterday...what a talent you have!
Hope ann that you’re less worried, Mary you can’t be a little ray of positive sunshine all of the time. Seriously wobbles are all part and parcel of this thread but glad you’re feeling a bit stronger emotionally. Stepping back from ‘family stuff’ and leading life for just you is sometimes the best idea, when you can gather your thoughts and see things with a fresh eye. Wishing you a better day and better times.
Blue, grip those big girl pants and off you go. Don’t think too much, just do it. We’re all just behind you wishing that you get the outcome you need. x
I have so much to do today....where did all my jobs come from? So, my answer is run away and make a plan....on the beach with happy dogs, the sun on my face and some hot chocolate in my bag. I’ll have resolved any problems by the time we get back home. Maybe even sorted out world peace while I’m at it. ?
To all of you, find a little smile, some small cheery light in our collective darkness and stride towards that today. Keep safe - remember you’re all precious so take good care of yourselves and each other. See you tomorrow??♀️????????Hugs.
That is a beautiful sunrise, Alygran!
Thanks, Marydoll. There were signs up about that but nothing to say that overseas parcels weren’t currently being accepted!
Thanks, Jaxjacky, for the information which obviously hadn’t permeated deepest South Devon by yesterday lunchtime!
Good morning everyone from a cold and frosty West Yorkshire. I’ll only be out for my walk today if I’m sure it’s not slippery underfoot later on, so am about to leap (well, shuffle) out of bed and do a YouTube workout just in case.
We looked after little DGS6 yesterday for a few hours, which was a delight for us, even though his best smiles were saved for mummy and daddy when they got back.
Today’s highlight must be the news about the Oxford vaccine - as a not-for-profit vaccine it’ll be a game changer for the poorer parts of the world. I have another phone call to Sainsbury’s to look forward to - they’ve kept us going since March but the only way to report any problems is via a long phone call, so my heart sank when they sent me a 50p substitution voucher instead of the £7 one I’m due. Ah well, it gives me something to do!
Have a good day, everyone.
Good morning from Shropshire. The snow has gone but very frosty.
DD is dropping the two children off while she goes shopping. This will be a trial run for next week when she goes back to work after maternity leave.Due to Henry’s health she extended her leave so will have been off for 16 months. We were meant to have H and then do school pick up for Miss M but school are not going back next week now so we will have both of them?It may be easier with both of them as M is so good with H.Presumably we will be doing home school on our two days as well?
Brilliant news of Iris’s progress.What a little star⭐️
Mary?and Cherry hope you had a restful night.
Thinking of all with worries.Have the best day you can all.
Good morning. Yesterday was special both DH and I had our 1st vaccine jab, feel so fortunate.
Hope it will not be long before it is available to those who choose to have it.
Good Morning all from a very frosty North Lancs. The car was so frozen at 7am I couldn’t even get it started this morning. I’m going to try it again in a while. Gelisajams I can see right across Morecambe Bay-there was snow on the distant hills earlier this week.
Happy birthday wishes to MrScentia ??
