Good morning All from Polmont where it's snowing. Again. They are big, meaty flakes too which are already lying on top of the earlier stuff. I've been to tesco and got all the shopping required for New year's day and beyond so the food is sorted. Ds is maybe coming over today which will mean I have to collect him. I had an unexpected visit from sil and dgs yesterday morning as dd was working and they were giving her peace. I'm going to have a coffee then get started on the Hogmanay clean. A necessary evil in my family. We're all superstitious about the house being shiny for 'The Bells'. And on that note, thank you for your company, your humour and your kind care over the year. I have appreciated it more than you will ever know. This has been a year like no other and I am fortunate indeed to have found you to share in this journey. Happy New year to you and your family when it comes.

Gosh, totally warm, friendly, optimistic and generally lovely in here. It has been a testing year indeed but here we are all set to kick it into touch. These messages have indeed brightened up my day already. Huge thank you to all contributors. May we all have a continuing day of comfort and joyful anticipation. Cheers.

Good morning Mick, Annie, and all.

We both had a disturbed night, so feeling 'not with it' this morning, and still feeling nauseous.

Loving thoughts to Marydoll, Harrigran, BlueSapphire, Lins, and CherryChezzy.

Thank you GrandmaFrench, for the lovely words in your post.

Have a good day one and all, and here's to a much better New Year.

Good morning from Durham. No snow, but a bright frosty morning - not a cloud in the sky.
No plans for today and in T4 now - so pleased we had our 3 household Christmas Day.
I echo good riddance to 2020 - which saw DH admitted to Hospital twice with Sepsis during his cancer treatment - so much ‘promised’ but so little achieved. It’s left his mobility a bit compromised and some memory problems. However, it’s a year closer to his eventual demise and it’s ‘when’ rather than ‘if’. Still, I could get hit by a bus tomorrow!
On the plus side - a 1st baby due in June for DD2, which will be challenging, to say the least.

Not sure if DH will manage to stay up tonight - usually exhausted by 10pm. I might shed a few tears having survived another year, then big girls pants on for 2021.

Thank you GN’s for this lovely thread. I wish you all what you’d wish for yourselves. X

Good Morning to you all from an overcast, cold & frosty Cambs.,
Nice to get the chiropodist, Mick, something I will have to find, (my lovely lady retired during the 1st lockdown, she wasn't a qualified chiropodist but did more than just a pedicure, she called it a foot treatment & it was like walking on air afterwards!)

2020 will certainly go down in history.....

I loved those words, grandmafrench, said all I feel.
All you kind people, on this gentle thread, have helped me through these past months.

Take care Marydoll, & others who are coping with illness, troubles & sorrow.

We look forward to a healthier, brighter new year.

See you next year !!

Take Care Folks.

Morning all from a bright and sunny, yet chilly South Notts. Not much on today. in fact nothing really, I may or may not nip out whilst keeping to the rules.
What a year 2020 has been - we'll all be glad to see the back of it, won't we? Hope today brings comfort for those with worries or illness.
Here's to 2021 being an improvement. wine

Good Morning All x.
Brightening up after a cloudburst of hailstones again----it's too cold to snow here. Those hailstones would knock you out if you were caught in them, they're quite big and come down with a vengeance.

We've gone to tier 3 now from 2, so a hint for people tonight to do the right thing and stay in ( just as if ! ) I won't be venturing anywhere and will very likely be in bed well before midnight.

My word I'd have been lost without GN this year ! With Mick beginning the day it's given us all the urge to contribute our daily " doings " and as a consequence it's helped the year go quicker than it normally would have. Thankyou to Mick and All.x

I'm just watching a row of seagulls perched on a roof opposite all facing the same way grin quite a work of art as they all look like stuffed ones hahaha. Looking Westwards I think---I haven't got my compass to hand smile

A couple of nice big baked potatoes with grated cheese for dinner today, then I must remember to get some chunks of cooked turkey out of the freezer for my dinner tomorrow for a full Christmas affair. Whatever happens, I won't starve.

Soaking my feet as I type then a nail trim. I can reach alright because I haven't got any restrictions round my middle for all the eating I do.

Hope all remains well with everyone, stay safe and warm and be careful when out if it's dodgy underfoot. Soon be time to see the back of this year, another 3 hours in Sydney and what a year it's been !

Take great care everyone and I hope there's a beacon of light for Gilly.x
Marydoll, rest up hen.x

HAZBEEN Thu 31-Dec-20 10:08:24

Good morning everyone on the last day of a horrible year.
I am also glad to see the back of 2020, so much sadness and trouble. Every year I say next year will be better, this time I can only hope so! We have the vaccine roll out, the B word deal is sorted, surely things are on the up?
I am another who is usually wiped out long before midnight (dratted chemo!) but I intend to try and have a nap this afternoon and stay up, if only to stick two fingers up to the old year (sorry pearl clutchers!).
Thank you all Gransnetters for your company, support, words of wisdom and help this year. I dont know what I would have done without being to unload on here!
Stay safe all and hugs to everyone.

Oldbutstilluseful Thu 31-Dec-20 10:09:32

Thank you Grandmafrench for your lovely words and Urms a truly beautiful picture, thank you and well done Manchester.

Nannytopsy Thu 31-Dec-20 10:11:40

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
BlueSapphire that’s great news! That should send you into 2021 with a smile ?
Jax we have t bone steak too, with a lovely red wine bought in the Loire in 2019.
As it was said earlier , health, wealth and happiness to all of us for 2021.

GrannyOwl5 Thu 31-Dec-20 10:25:53

Good morning everyone from the north Kent coast where it is grey and very cold.

Might go for a walk later, but got a bit spooked yesterday on our constitutional along the seafront by the number of people, many of whom have no intention of changing direction as they head straight for you. Think we will stop walking by the sea for the foreseeable future.

Sorry to read that some have been struggling with health and worries; best wishes to you for better health and less worries next year. Brilliant news BlueSapphire; you must be so relieved. Enjoy your fizz.

Thank you all for your company during this year; for your humour, support and bloody-minded refusal to be beaten by this dreadful virus even under the most despairing circumstances. I wish you and yours health, relief from worries and concerns and a light for the path you tread through 2021.

NfkDumpling Thu 31-Dec-20 10:27:38

Morning All

Bright, sunny - and bloody cold here in the north of Norfolk.

May go for a walk around the block later - or just stay in and start the Christmas jigsaw.

Grandmafrench Thu 31-Dec-20 10:28:11

Relief for you, Blue x Georgesgran and Cherry you’ve made me cry and that’s not the plan, lovely people. I’m reading no more this morning. Getting a grip, but so wish we could all meet. One day, maybe.
xxxxxxx

Nellie54 Thu 31-Dec-20 10:35:00

Chilly but quiet. All melting slowly forecast of snow overnight has not happened. Hoping for a walk but went from Tier 2 into Tier 4 yesterday.?
Happy New Year.

Nellie54 Thu 31-Dec-20 10:35:59

Should have said in Cheshire!

EllanVannin Thu 31-Dec-20 10:51:10

Some lovely posts this morning with the usual uplifting one from grandmafrench . They're all so full of meaning and hope x

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 31-Dec-20 10:55:55

Good Morning all from sunny but very cold Harrogate - I have put a wash on - ever the optimist!! ! Yesterday my DH slipped while walking the dog. Just hurt his dignity and his bahoochie!! Today i need to make some more of my cereal and also more brandy butter (you've guessed, still eating the Christmas pudd)
That's good news Blue Sapphire a good start to next year.
I'll come back to read the rest of the posts a bit later

Meanwhile Happy New Tier to you all

farview Thu 31-Dec-20 10:59:31

Good morning all from Tier4 Bolton...beautiful outside with lots of snow ...well we all got through this awful year and we will get through the next few months until the vaccines are done and there is hope ?...
marydoll..look after yourself..and same to everyone else with illness and worry ⚘⚘
Just off to collect antibiotics from the pharmacy after telephone appointment with the doctor..really ripped my finger on barbed wire yesterday...what a dope!!!
Bye bye 2020....best wishes to all of you for 2021..?⚘?

Mollygo Thu 31-Dec-20 11:09:38

Good morning from North Lancs. The dusting of snow had disappeared by the time I got ready to walk. It’s still really cold, but at least my car isn’t frozen up like yesterday. There’ll be a lovely view right across Morecambe Bay once I get to the top of the hill in the park.
Today’s job-finish sorting my wardrobe. Thank heavens for audio books to keep me company.
Now we’re in Tier 4, the food I bought for my DD family ‘bubble’ visit which isn’t happening, will last me all week!?

Nannagarra Thu 31-Dec-20 11:10:03

Good morning from the Sefton coast where, like EV across the bay, we have had hail stones. Grandmafrench has expressed exactly how I feel about all you lovely Gransnetters, so thank you GMF. Sending you hugs, flowers and a bigger, brighter light of hope for 2021. ?⛄️??

Taichinan Thu 31-Dec-20 11:12:32

Well, here it is. An end to a year that has been nobody's favourite! Let's hope that 2021 will bring us some freedom. I will willingly wear a mask for ever and wash my hands until they're raw if only I can visit and hug my family again! This Hogmanay that's what I wish for everyone in the coming year because without them life is very empty indeed.
Grandmafrench your words say it all so beautifully.
In spite of everything there have been many bright moments in this past year for which I am grateful and one of those was joining this happy, encouraging thread. So
a very big thank you to Mick for starting it and keeping it going. ???. It's such a lovely way to start each day - and while away half the morning!
Bluesapphire so happy to hear of your "all clear". You must be so relieved. Marydoll for the first Hogmanay you may rest up today without feeling guilty - you deserve it. Thank you for all the bright, cheerful and funny posts that you have given us in spite of your own ill health and suffering. ??
And I'm forgetting to mention the weather on the Angus coast!! Well, yesterday as the sun set, the snow fell. I genuinely can't remember the last time we had snow here - a good few years ago. Today it has rained, and the snow is back where it belongs - on the hills. More importantly, today is DGD1's 17th birthday! From a tiny scrap in an incubator to a truly beautiful, inside and out, young lady who towers above her mum and Nanny - she's our wonderful miracle. What she wants more than anything now is driving lessons and to pass her test, so as soon as Covid permits, the 'L' plates will be up! What a positive note on which to enter a new year.
Best wishes everyone! ?????

moggie57 Thu 31-Dec-20 11:17:23

LauraNorder Thu 31-Dec-20 11:18:07

Good morning Mick and all from dry dull Anglesey.
What a lovely post Grandmafrench, I would like to echo all that you said.
Good news Bluesapphire.
Moving picture Urms, I was holding up okay until that reduced me to tears.
Thank you all for sharing your warmth, compassion, humour and love throughout the year.
