Allege rape in Epsom by asylum seekers
Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark , but looks clear with a half moon in the sky above Brackley this morning, will be cold outside as well.
We wake up to new rules and a lockdown as per last March , so makes me wonder, will we be able to get take away meals from the Fish & Chip shop etc.
Take Care,
Mick
Crossed posts Dragonfly ((hugs)) for you, as I know how you feel.
Good morning from a lovely clear, fresh south Cornwall. My dreams were full of hugs with friends and grandchildren, and I also knitted a snail (which I do!). It feels and sounds like a Sunday - the town is quiet. I'll venture out for milk and the proscribed exercise later and see if the tourists are wending their way home.
After the last beachcomb I found I'd brought home some limpets so first thing yesterday I dropped those pieces of crockery back in the harbour. Can't bear to kill anything.
Lovely cinema story NanKate. Have the best day you can everyone. Personally I feel a bit numb, but I know I will emerge from that gradually.
Good morning Mick and all . It is cold and clear here on the S Welsh coast, 2 degrees but no frost here either. We have a Sainsbury's delivery between 9 and 10am. We found out from local social media that someone was collecting real Christmas trees for £5, we phoned up and ours was collected from the drive by a very cheery young chap yesterday afternoon, sorted. Took our 7 month old puppy for a romp on the fields, he's on an extended lead and he loves it.
That's a lovely picture and sentiment Ash, glad your medical MOT was uneventful.
Hope everyone will have as pleasant a day as possible and thinking of all those with sickness and missing their lives ones.
Good morning and a happy new year everyone from a very cold morning on the east coast of Fife. Thankfully I’m nice and cosy so far until my lovely carers come in around 8.30 with their cheery smile and loud good mornings. Then it’s up time for either a wash or a shower. All in the house has returned to a more calming influence thank goodness for that. Our normality such as it is has at last returned we’ve much to be thankful for lots of friends who will help us out one way or the other I’ve cancelled our cleaners from visiting until things settle a bit the less folks who come into this house the less risk for us auld yin’s. If anyone has an idea how to reduce the pain I get from injections please let me know. I screamed when I got the flu jab scaring the waiting queue, my friend said to get my big pants on
Good morning all from a very chilly Essex. Yesterday, it rained most of the day. Hopefully a bit brighter today ?.
DS1 brought round some shopping, - we just have to get some dog food (little pooch is so fussy) and I’ll pop to the greengrocers for fruit/veg. Should be safe enough!
I had a look through all the cards, drawings and pictures the GC have given me over the years. A huge pile from GD 1 . (now18) , and gradually dwindled piles from the others down to hardly any from GD8. Sadly I haven’t kept them all. ?.
Usual day for us. Dog walks, Bargain Hunt. Pottering and maybe a film this afternoon. Salmon for tea tonight.
Wishing you all a pleasant day.
Good Morning. The sky is clearing and no frost here in N. Bucks. Will probably go out for a short walk later.
I have said before that the different crafts that I do keep me sane so I hope to be productive over the next few weeks. At the moment I am knitting baby cardigans. Also making a felt flower kit that one of my DDs gave me at Christmas.
Waiting for the delivery of a wool pack so that. I can crochet a blanket for new DGC due in May.
DHs golf is off now ( he plays 3 times a week) so hoping he can find something to occupy himself.
FaceTime, zoom and Wattsapp will be in overdrive with our family.
Stay safe everyone, we can get through this. Hope you all manage to find a ? today.
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good morning from a cold grey Morecambe Bay. I know it’s cold out there because our snowfall from days ago hasn’t gone and it’s cool in the house despite the gallant efforts of the radiators.
Lockdown doesn’t seem to be much different from our tier 4 for us, we can still go out once a day for a local walk so not much is changing that affects us. I do feel for people with child care issues though.
Take care and stay safe everyone ?
Elizabeth1, have you tried a anaesthetic cream such as Emla available from chemists. It’s primarily sold to men for certain male problems, but can be used as a local anaesthetic! I’m sure a chat with the pharmacist could offer you something.?
Good morning from the Shropshire/Powys border.Snow flurries earlier but seem to have stopped now.
We should have been looking after our DGS today but DD eventually found out at 10 pm last night that due to Boris’s announcement she will not be working today.
I forgot to change the timer on the heating so it kicked in at 4am?
I feel really sad/anxious for my younger daughter.
Dragonfly?I have had a few of those thoughts myself.
Ashcombe, glad your appointment went well and thank you for the picture and words that went with it.Something I needed to see/hear this morning.
Hope Cherry is ok and that both she and Mary have had a restful night.
Thinking of charley this morning as she says goodbye to her beloved Tara.
Have the best day you can everyone.
Good morning from North Yorkshire where it is bright and clear so probably chilly.
I must set to in the kitchen this morning and clean the oven and wash the floor. Some admin to do for my charity later then FaceTime with DGS.
Have as good a day as you can everyone. Stay safe.
Hi Mick and all GNs from sunny South Glos.
I was interested to read about your presentation today NanKate and your memories of West Side Story. Apart from going to the panto, seeing West Side Story on the stage with a group from the youth club when I was about 13, totally enthralled me. It has been my favourite musical ever since. Unfortunately the last version of it I saw about 6 years ago had been updated so that the Jets and the Sharks said "effing this and effing that" all the way through.
I suppose it made the scene more realistic, but I spoilt those romantic early memories.
Anyway, hope your presentation goes well, NanKate, and that all who are sad and worried about this new lockdown, or lonely, can have the best day possible.
"it spoilt" not "I spoilt"
Good morning all, grey and chilly here. Can't seem to wake up till after eight these days. Taking tree and decs down today, hope DH doesn't see the article in the Times which says that the National Trust are leaving their decorations up until Candlemas as used to happen in the middle ages! He loves Christmas and would probably like to do that! Will try to go out for a walk later, am feeling the effects of too many Christmas goodies! Hope you all have a good day.
Good Morning all, I thought I had posted earlier !
It’s lovely and bright now , still some ice on the pond but it has shrunk !
The Robin and Blackbird are doing there chase dance round the crumbs I put out , but the Blackbird just chases and has yet to take any crumbs ?
Good morning Mick and all from dry and calm Anglesey.
Have decided not to put the television on today. Will concentrate on our meals, my book and a nice walk and pretend that the world is not topsy-turvy.
Hope Urms has reassuring call from the doctor.
Hope Charleygirl can be kind to herself today, tough losing a good and loyal companion.
Hope all of you with aches, pains and worries can find some peace and a smile today.
Good Morning everyone. Very cold, blue and sunny. A garden coffee still possible, though, tucked into a corner of the veranda.....ignoring the ice on the pool!
Gave myself a good talking to last night : I’m too old and responsible to be a getaway driver and very much not Thelma & Louise! But, I had failed to spot a pack of coffee I’d been asked to buy for a currently housebound friend and which was still in my bag from earlier shopping. I’d gaily told her I’d drop it into her porch - she loves her coffee. 8pm is curfew! It was 10 minutes to, but I decided she needed that coffee, I’d promised etc., I scooped up keys, bag, coffee and having got my car out onto the road for a 5 minute drive, I immediately struggled between my ‘joke’ glasses and the thick fog which they instantly wore, and my mask in the cold air. I roared to the town, posted her coffee, roared back - like a near sighted nervous ? Ninja! ?. Not one person, not a cat, dog, vehicle moved anywhere. I was super impressed that everyone was respecting our ongoing curfew, but as I was out - for the first (and last) time at the wrong time, I panicked that I’d suddenly see a blue light, there was only me in the world breaking the law and I’d have some explaining to do.....before I got a smile and a large fine! All was well, but it could have been a very expensive pack of coffee. Will not be doing that again! I’m clearly not cut out to be a badass!
When I burst through the door, my DH raised his eyebrows and asked if I’d enjoyed my last minute dash. Emphatically “non!”
Hope everyone is able to find a little cheer today. Don’t think the lockdown was unexpected - anywhere in the UK. But hopefully this time if people are made to stick to the rules, it’ll work - and the figures will drop, and those vaccines will happen. There’s more reason for hope now and we mustn’t give up. We’re Grans.......and we just don’t give up - ever!
Keep very safe, warm wishes to you all and a special hug for those in need of one. X
?♀️???????????????????
Good morning from a cool but dry NE.
Kept myself busy yesterday doing little jobs, DH took over the housework when he retired but he has a lot of pain and can't do so much now.
I check on my sister each day on WhatsApp, it makes her feel safer too.
Stay safe.
Good Morning to you all from an overcast Cambs.,
I think a few of us are having a bit of a wobble, I feel for you, dear friends.
. Take heart dragonfly, & others like us.
I need to stop myself from over-watching the news programmes, it can get obsessive for me.
Mick, most takeaways should still be open, (I hope).!
The sun is trying to shine.!
.
Take Care Folks
Morning from S Lanarkshire, time to soldier on again. I hope today is better for you dragonfly?will be thinking about you.
I’m glad you are getting pleasure from your Parsley Box meals Mick, a tasty dinner does give us something to look forward to doesn’t it!
I’ve talked myself done over the last couple of days so I’m issuing myself with a ‘stay away from the phone’ order and I think I’ll take the tree down. The crib can stay till I’ve finished my How Far to Bethlehem book!
Best wishes to everyone as we start back along this hard road.
Hello and good morning everyone from a bright and frosty Northampton. The road outside looks very slippy. Don't think the new lockdown will make any difference to me; I shop online, Sainsbury's delivers, and I can still go to my DD's as they are my bubble. Apart from that I stay in, so hardly see anyone. But I am thoroughly fed up with it all, as I'm sure we all are.
Managed to get most of the decorations down yesterday, but the tree is still up, as I could not remember what I'd done with the boxes to store the ornaments - I eventually found them in the cupboard under the stairs. By that time I'd decided to leave the tree up till the 6th, and get a bit more enjoyment out of it. Have still got the fairy lights up on the mantlepiece until the batteries run out.
Got all my paperwork filed yesterday and removed and shredded out of date stuff. No cooking tonight as there is enough chicken casserole left from yesterday's dinner, and enough cold chicken left for another sandwich at lunchtime.
Planning on changing the bedding today, so a load of washing to go in. I have just ordered a new lighter duvet, 7.5 tog, as the 10.5 I have on at the moment is far too hot, but it is not due to arrive till next week. When DH was here we would keep a 4.5 on all year round and were plenty warm enough even in the depths of winter, but now I find I need a bit more warmth.
Hope today is kind to us all.
Good morning Michael and all GNs. A grey cold morning in South Yorkshire. Mick glad your ready meals are nice - it’s good to have a tasty hot meal to look forward to on winter days. I’m expecting DD’s birthday present to be delivered this morning, so that’s one thing I won’t have to worry about during this lockdown. She’s resigned to the fact that her fiftieth birthday is going to be a non-event, so I hope what we’ve bought will bring a smile to her face and be something she’ll treasure. We have to go over there today to pick up some things she got us from their farm shop on Sunday, so it’ll be the last time we see them all “in the flesh” for a while, albeit at a distance.
My DiL texted yesterday to say her first vaccination is booked. Glad they’re protecting our front line NHS. Have the best day you can folks and stay safe.
Morning all from a bright and chilly South Notts. Not much going on today except a service of the burglar alarm this afternoon which is an annual arrangement. If it were ever to go off in the night I think I'd die of fright.
It's the usual meal prep, knitting and reading and a little housework. Another lockdown is depressing for many of us but we can only hope for the best, can't we? Hope today is kind, especially to those with illness or worries.

Good morning All from a still icy Polmont. It has lessened somewhat but is still cold. Grandmafrench you made me laugh at the picture of you as a desperate bandit or 'badass'. It was kind of you to deliver the coffee though. I've just had my first coffee of the day and will shortly have my second and last one. It was a long lie for me this morning. I was a bit downhearted by the lock down news yesterday as I live alone. However I got through the last one so I cheered myself up this morning with a long lie, something I rarely do. Hibernating in January isn't that much of a hardship, particularly when there's ice afoot and snow forecast. I will still be providing childcare for dgs two days a week as that's allowed. Nankate your story about West Side Story brought back happy memories. When I was a teenager in the seventies our local youth theatre group put it on and acting in it was such fun. I only had a very small part with a few lines but the musical was joyous. It remains one of my favourite memories and musicals. Today will be a rerun of yesterday. Quiet and pottering. I made curry and soup so meals for today and tomorrow are taken care of. I must organise a new phone. The one I use is about eight years old and the battery and memory is failing. A bit like me, I suppose! Well, off for the coffee. ? To Charleygirl who has to lose Tara today. It's so hard but the last gift we can give our pets is a pain free end. Have a good day all.
