Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark , but looks clear with a half moon in the sky above Brackley this morning, will be cold outside as well.
We wake up to new rules and a lockdown as per last March , so makes me wonder, will we be able to get take away meals from the Fish & Chip shop etc.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning*Mick * and everyone from a bright, sunny but cold S Wales. Nothing much in the plans for today except to take down the Christmas decorations, except for the lights perhaps, and inspect everywhere ready for cleaning!

It's such a lovely day it seems a pity to stay in and clean the house.

Best wishes to all, especially those who are not feeling well or having troubles.

Good morning from Durham. Cold, damp and rain forecast.
Today we await a phone call from the Hospital as DH’s bloods were too poor to have yesterday’s treatment. Unfortunately he had to wait 2 hours to be seen, so when the test results came back, there was no-one left around to do anything.
Covid restrictions really getting on my ‘pips’ now but we must do what we’re told.
Stay safe everyone and best wishes to those with troubles. X

A short and simple good morning from me in South Manchester. We are minding the grandchildren today as no school for them until tomorrow as the children of key workers - mummy a teacher and daddy a gas engineer.

We’ve been here 3 hours already and I’ve made their breakfas, played Barbies with the granddaughter and dinosaurs with the grandson. Himself is in charge of events now while I sit and enjoy a quiet cuppa! I shall read through all your posts now - if I’m not disturbed ..
?

Hope Tuesday is kind to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing in this enforced lockdown. At least we are allowed out for a walk, weather permitting - more than we could do in the Spanish lockdown so I’m very grateful. x

Good Morning all from Harrogate where the sun is mocking us!!
Ashcombe love your picture with all it encapsulates. A bit disappointed with the lockdown, but it was inevitable. My great niece has been tested positive and her mum thinks she is affected.

Still have to go to battle with a company that have scammed me out of quite a bit of money. It will end up with the bank having to get the money out of them!

Nothing planned except more removal of decorations - hopefully DH will help this time.

Keep a British chin up folks - the end is in sight - will come back and read posts more thoroughly!

Good morning all. Warmer here today, it looks like the ice has finally melted on the roads and pavements so I will have a walk later.

Mapleleaf Tue 05-Jan-21 10:43:42

Good morning from a mostly grey skied South Yorkshire, though there are a few patches of blue.

Not a lot planned for today, though I must try to go out for a little exercise - my motivation goes right down when it's so cold as the cold air make my teeth ache. I suppose I could use the mask! ?

The lockdown was to be expected with cases rising so rapidly and certain individuals believing the regulations and advice were for everyone but themselves. Let's hope that by the end of February things begin to ease slightly.

Sorry you are feeling low dragonfly, and I hope that you start to feel brighter very soon. It does seem all so negative for us at the moment doesn't it, but you have so many virtual friends here who are with you in spirit and support you. ??

Take care everyone.

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
We too have DGC here for the day. Mum on a long day, Dad was on nights but both his replacements sick ( one with Covid) so his shift continues until this afternoon now.
TV programme has finished, time to justify the label Nanny!

Good morning everyone from a grey and wet north Kent; no glimmer of the sun today, but thankfully we all know it’s there!

Lockdown 2 - or is it 3 or 4? Have lost count! - won’t make a great deal of difference here at Owl Towers apart from a glum DH who will have to find something to do on his erstwhile golf days. At the moment he is filling in the horrible sky bits of my jigsaw while I plough through DD’s mountain of ironing- my way of helping her out.

Thinking of Charleygirl as Tara starts her last journey; she has given you so many memories of happier times which I hope with be of some comfort to you.

Thinking too of those struggling a bit today; they always say things are darkest before the dawn so the light of the vaccine shining on the horizon will encourage us all through it. Stay strong Grans and keep safe

Good morning everyone from a cold bright Angus coast. I've skimmed through the posts and now find I can't remember who said what, or even what anyone said - my brain is not in receiving mode. Being in Lockdown again is not a surprise, and it is actually a relief to feel that we are all pulling together again in the same direction. I just feel very downbeat at the moment so I shall stop here before I bring everyone down with me. ??

GrannyGravy13 Tue 05-Jan-21 11:22:23

Charleygirl sending you a (((hug)))

Dragonfly I am prone to saying I can’t I am making an effort to change it to I can and it is slowly making a difference, especially in the middle of the night when I have the most dreadful fears and anxiety ?????

Urmstongran Tue 05-Jan-21 11:24:40

Did your daughter like her birthday present Scentia after her round trip to collect it?

No sign of Marydoll? I hope all is okay.

Charleygirl doesn’t post on here does she? Will she see your messages??

Morning everyone hope you are all keeping well. Sun was out earlier now it's a bit dull but chilly here in Sherwood. Yesterday we had problems with the hot water and heating because someone forgot to reset them after the fire alarm was tested!! Still doesn't feel that warm in my flat. Just had my fruit and salad order delivered. Lots of good things too much really just for me. Hope everyone has the best day they can.

Morning Mick and all from Sunnyside, northwest coast. Lockdown! Round and round we go. Had enough of this and understand a wobble dragonfly Thank god for my good book (not ‘the’ good book ?) internet and tv. No excuse now not to paint that masterpiece. Will fair copy my latest pomes into the special book reserved for that purpose but may go back to sleep. Half of our life is spent dreaming, even if we can’t remember the dreams and I can dream my husband is still alive.
At least the cat gives some purpose to my now little life.

Borrheid55 Tue 05-Jan-21 11:58:02

...respond to emails and take a phone call with no interruptions. Sorry about the split message my finger slipped!
I was looking through some paperwork recently after seeing an ad in the paper similar to the PPI process. I took out an endowment mortgage in 1991 and it looks as though there may be some compensation due because of misselling. Despite seven moves, I still had original paperwork- very useful for policy numbers, —guilty— parties, and dates. Lady rang this morning to say I have a strong case, so fingers crossed. Had a wee scare over the weekend, my DS was unwell but thankfully tested negative for Covid. He manages seven McDonald stores in Essex so is in constant contact with the public.
Marydoll not posting today is a bit of a worry. Hope all is well. She does seem very careful so it may just be an off day.
I’m wondering how long DH will be able to continue at work. He was furloughed for nine weeks last year. Depends whether there is still freight to be distributed across the UK.
Stay safe everyone, there does seem to be light at the end of the tunnel!

EllanVannin Tue 05-Jan-21 12:00:03

Good Morning All x.
Sun has just come out after a rather dull first thing so it's helping to brighten my mood as well.
I was up early, showering then breakfasting because I knew I wanted a few bits from the local shop and if I'd sat like I usually do, I wouldn't have bothered. No frost.

One of my main concerns, besides Covid of course, is the change there might be in the weather where I'm not able to get out ( ice, mainly ) as I'd hate the thought of being without something so I strike while the iron's hot. I've no need to now for the rest of the week.

D from Oz rang me at 8.30 last night as they'd been watching Boris at 8pm and were saying how worried they were about this country and of course us as the family. She was wishing I was there keeping safe with them. I felt quite deflated. They're still mask-wearing but the panic is over at the Northern Beaches area.

All that remains for me to say is to stay safe and as well as you can under the circumstances. Thoughts to those who are finding life a struggle xx flowers Dragonfly and Susan.

Scentia Tue 05-Jan-21 12:12:46

Urmstongran She most definitely did, it was a car seat that turns into a buggy for the new baby. I got an absolute bargain and even after it has had its check over it will still be less than half the price that they are selling for on Ebay and Facebook. I took advantage of the fact the auction ended at midnight!! I have just said to DH that I am still reeling in the glory of getting it for such a good price. "Damn near made my day it did!!!"

Annaram1 Tue 05-Jan-21 12:20:34

Hi all Grans
Its a lovely day here in Sidmouth. My neighbour rang my doorbell abut half an hour ago and said she had spotted a leak coming from a drain in the courtyard. I rang South West Water and they said they could not get here before 2 or 3 days.
I pointed out that there a lot of elderly people here who could slip if the water ices up. The last time it happened about 6 years ago SWW did not come and I reported the leak to them several times. In the end I went to the local newspaper office and they sent a reporter and photographer. After their report appeared in the paper we got a visit from SWW the next day!
Mick, I have the brochure from Parsley Box and keep being tempted. Maybe I should try them out...
Have a good day everyone and I hope all with sickness or pain or worries improves as the day goes on.

My post disappeared! Hello from a white north of Scotland. Ashcombe. Thank you for the image. I have the pastry resting ready for my “galette des rois” Cake of the Kings to go in the oven. I love that the Epiphany is celebrated in France.
Best wishes to all at this gloomy time.

Dwmxwg Tue 05-Jan-21 12:33:59

Just popped back to say we have had good news this morning. Mum and dad will get their first vaccinations on Thursday. I didn’t realise how emotional I have been feeling, I literally sobbed with joy

Chewbacca Tue 05-Jan-21 13:29:23

A belated good morning! Marydoll has been in touch with me to ask if I can let you know that she's currently in hospital, having been admitted overnight. She's in good hands and will be in touch asap. If I hear anything further, I'll come back to let you all know but she's specifically asked me to send you all her love.

Pantglas2 Tue 05-Jan-21 13:36:30

Hurry back Marydoll, fit and raring to go ?xx

GrannyGravy13 Tue 05-Jan-21 13:45:55

LauraNorder Tue 05-Jan-21 13:46:33

Taking ‘all her love’ and right back at you Marydoll.
Get well soon ?
