I've received a few messages asking to continue the 1000 words thread. It has obviously given many people pleasure and some positivity. For anyone who doesn't know, posters come on with their photographs of pretty much anything and we take it from there. Nature is always a good one.

Peaceful places at Heligan yesterday and a robin sitting bravely beside us.

Blustery here in Padstow today.

My new shed. Due to Covid I had to wait 6 months from ordering it to delivery. Worth the wait smile

This is my shed, from the Posh Shed Company. I saw one on an Alan Titchmarsh show, after which they were on special offer. Unfortunately it has to be near the house due to the slope of the garden. It is choc-a-block with 'stuff' as I have no garage.

I like your garden Aldom, how do you keep your Hostas uneaten? I can't even grow them hole-free in pots.

Ladies, I never knew “shed envy” was a thing.....I do now! ?

Shysal What a gorgeous shed!! I have several hostas, some are in the borders. For years I've treated them with a garlic infusion in the afternoons. To make the infusion, boil a whole head of garlic in a large pan of water until the garlic is very soft. Allow to go cold then mash and strain. Pour into two 1 ltr milk bottles. Dilute a couple of tablespoons in a full watering can. Using the spray head on the watering can water the hosta leaves. This has to be done in the afternoon. It works for me and I saw a hosta grower on Gardeners' World last year who uses the same thing, on a large scale.

These were flowering at this time last year. Nothing in flower at the moment.

Too much water for one little river.

May7 Mon 24-May-21 16:12:02

Wow Ellianne I suspect there are a few of them today. It's not let up here at all.

Look what I found on the decking, minding it's own business

Hellogirl1 Mon 24-May-21 19:51:33

May 7, what is it? Looks pretty yuck.

May7 Mon 24-May-21 20:51:56

A delightful little family of Mandarin ducks on Agden reservoir. Father is rather splendid.

Hellogirl1 Thu 27-May-21 21:47:40

Sorry May7, I have an aversion to creepy crawlies.

NotAGran55 Thu 27-May-21 21:52:40

My little pheasant family.

cornergran Thu 27-May-21 22:29:00

Spiders, ducks, pheasants? Can’t compete with any of those, all wonderful in their own way, yes even the spider

Not so interesting but I was thrilled today to see our first garden rose of the year.

Greyduster Fri 28-May-21 08:02:20

That’s a beauty! Mine are nowhere near flowering yet.

Aldom Fri 28-May-21 13:08:39

Just had a visit from Jackdaws.

Greyduster Fri 28-May-21 15:38:33

This is a drop of water trapped in the middle of a lupin leaf, but it looked rather alien!

Ellianne Fri 28-May-21 16:39:23

Giving me the eye!

Greyduster Fri 28-May-21 22:56:08

No roses yet, but this rhodi is putting on a good show.

cornergran Sat 29-May-21 00:01:14

Beautiful rhodi greyd. Ours finished a couple of weeks ago. There was I thinking we hadn't experienced particularly mild weather hmm.
