How long is a reasonable time (under current lockdown conditions) to consume a whole bag of Cadbury Buttons (the £1 size). Asking for a friend who was highjacked by a display of the same at the till when she went to buy bread?

PS Meant to say my post above is on behalf of a friend, of course. hmm

Ah mini eggs have been introduced to the conversation a whole new ball game. As I haven't been to a shop I haven't see any yet but I have to go to the dentists on Monday which is near Waitrose so I will see if my friend would like some and make sure I get plenty in case she offers me some.

To make matters worse, I found a bag of Cadbury's chocolate orange, giant buttons. I let the DGC try one each, (childcare bubble), then they didn't last very long at all!

Joesoap Sat 09-Jan-21 09:55:37

I have to eat two at a time,so they dont last long.

Moggycuddler Sat 09-Jan-21 10:12:29

About 5 minutes?

Saggi Sat 09-Jan-21 10:17:16

Luckily....I hate chocolate . Having said that....it only takes an hour to devour a whole tube of Smokey Bacon Pringles!!

An evening shared with my DH .

Aepgirl Sat 09-Jan-21 10:30:08

Too busy eating all sorts of choccies to time how long it takes.

GrammarGrandma Sat 09-Jan-21 10:31:37

Indefinitely for me! (Like only dark chocolate).

GreyKnitter Sat 09-Jan-21 10:37:06

My friend buys chocolates and likes to store them in a safe place which no one else knows about but then has to keep checking on them during the day to make sure they are still there. Every time she checks there seems to be at least 1 less and eventually - by the end of day 2 - they seem to have all disappeared. She has no idea what happens to them.

Hetty58 Sat 09-Jan-21 10:45:56

BigBertha1, five minutes, preferably with a nice cup of tea - as per usual, I'd say!

Hetty58 Sat 09-Jan-21 10:47:04

Joesoap, flat sides together, of course!

BrandyGran Sat 09-Jan-21 10:50:52

Can you explain about being able to eat white chocolate without it interfering with sleep, Disco Dancer please?
I suffer with very bad acid reflux so eat 2 Ferrero Rochers (probably wrong spelling) as my treat at lunch time!

Skweek1 Sat 09-Jan-21 10:52:32

I don't much like milk or white chocolate, so not keen on Buttons. A packet of jelly babies or mini eggs, however, as soon as they are opened last about 15 minutes!

Sweetchile Sat 09-Jan-21 10:55:45

What a brilliant grandparent you've saved your GC trips to the dentist!!

Nanananana1 Sat 09-Jan-21 10:57:57

For me they don't even make it back to the house. I have been known to eat them in the car and still look for them in my shopping when I get home

minxie Sat 09-Jan-21 11:07:10

I don’t understand why they use resealable bags, once opened they have to eaten pronto. It’s the lawn in this house and sharing is also not an option when it comes to buttons or any other choccie for that matter.

pamdixon Sat 09-Jan-21 11:11:48

Now the whole of England is under 'tier 5' stricter conditions apply. Tell 'your friend' that its very important to eat all the contents of the bag as soon as possible (don't know what the rules are for lower tiers - we'll probably never find out). Current rules mean you can't share surely (such a pity!!!!)

Alioop Sat 09-Jan-21 11:13:53

I try to make them last 2 days, but I sit and eat away, watching TV or reading, and when I decide to put the rest away for the following day I realise there's only 3 left in the packet, so then think it's silly not to finish them all then in the one sitting.

sodapop Sat 09-Jan-21 11:17:39

I had some stollen bites at Christmas Alioop and did the same thing, I'm trying not to think about the number of calories smile

trisher Sat 09-Jan-21 11:26:39

BigBertha1 I'm currently researching the time it takes to consume a box of Celebrations. However I haven't taken the Covid restrictions into consideration. I may have to start again!

gillyjp Sat 09-Jan-21 11:50:18

Oh well once we've polished off all the Christmas chocs, now we're in lockdown, its 'essential shopping' only isn't it? Good job we're not getting our bags checked on the way out of the shops currently!

4allweknow Sat 09-Jan-21 11:56:09

Same as a packet of crisps, once opened impossible to stop.

Esspee Sat 09-Jan-21 12:02:39

I have to say that anything Cadbury’s, with the exception of their dark milk range is easily ignored in this house.

icanhandthemback Sat 09-Jan-21 13:07:34

As a diabetic, I would eat them all at once so my blood sugars had one peak and then I could get back on track. After all, if I spread it over a few days, I'll be having high blood sugars for much longer. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!
