Morning Mick et al from S Lanarkshire where it’s still cold and snowy. I’m late this morning, neither of us woke up till after eight. DH was up a few times through the night as usual but for us both to sleep till that hour is extraordinary.

Pleased to hear you’re feeling better Urms and Marydoll too.
Cute little snail Viridian, it reminded me of my DD who had a real fear of slugs and snails as a child. We used to stay with my DM for a few days every summer so in preparation for our arrival my mother would scour her garden for the creatures and unceremoniously chuck them over the garden wall. I’m not sure what her neighbours thought of that.

Morning Mick, morning All from a cold, dry and fog-free corner of Somerset. Hope to get to the farm shop for some eggs and bread today, other than that who knows? That’s fine, I’m settling nicely into a space where each day unfolds as it chooses to. Mr C has an appointment for his covid jab next week, it’s 10 miles away so the car will get a legal outing. You’re right marydoll, hospital is not the place to be just now so please do more than practice being good. . A welcome to JanetG and apologies, I’m later today and there are too many posts before me for me to recall what everyone has said. Stay warm and safe everyone, special thoughts to those with heavy hearts.

This is DH’s week for all things medical - urgent care centre on Monday to treat and dress hands injured in fall in bedroom, dental check and polish on Wednesday, back to get hands dressed yesterday (looking good and I have dressings so we can cope at home), and appointment with Parkinson’s consultant this morning so I need to get a move on. Frosty but thankfully not foggy here, though DH is nervous about going out. I don’t think he wants to hear how much he has deteriorated since he last saw the consultant, over a year ago, but I want to be sure his medication is right. Quite a jolly week, all told!

So glad that Marydoll is back in charge at home and is at least taking some notice of the instructions to rest. Good news from Urmston and hope that Susan is reassured by her hospital visit. A disaster free day is what we all want.

Good morning everyone from a very cold and frosty Northampton; everything is white and the sky is grey. A day for staying indoors, I think. I have decided not to go to DD's this weekend, the thought of mixing with anyone scares me a bit with this new virus variant. Even though they are in my support bubble and both working from home, they still have to go to the supermarket, and I do worry that they might pick something up there. I just feel safer staying in.

Managed to tidy up yesterday after the tree and decorations came down, and moved the furniture around in the living room for a change, so am getting used to sitting in a different place. The Shark is now waiting to go upstairs so I can do the bedrooms, probably next week! I ordered my knitting wool yesterday and downloaded the pattern, and am looking forward to getting the needles out again. It's only a scarf, so it shouldn't take to long, and I can knit in the afternoons without the cats' help, as they always sleep upstairs then.

No plans for today, except for usual tidy round and kitchen and bathrooms.

Will now go back and read all your posts, then may pop back in. Hope today is good for us all.

I had a lovely Zoom catch up with a friend yesterday. We haven’t seen one another for over a year.

I had yet another email from Little Mattie Hancock (I have borrowed that name from another GN, I have a different name which I call him, but I won’t sully Micks lovely thread by repeating it). Now I am shielding until 21st February. It won’t really amount to much change in our lives. The infection rates are so high in London that we have been ultra careful all along.

Thinking of everyone facing challenges today.

Good Morning all, bright and frosty here , too cold for snow , as my Mum used to say
Woke up to visit the loo and realised it was distinctly chilly , we have underfloor heating and it is on low all the time . I knew it was the pressure but I didn’t fancy going out in the cold to fix it so just turned it off, of course couldn’t sleep . Anyway I was wrestling with it this morning but DD came out of her back door and took over !
On my second cuppa better go , the Robin is looking in at wanting his crumbs !

Yesterday was a crisp winter wonderland and my GC did their own forest school out in DD's meadow - they sent magical pictures. So wonderful to see the GC gang of cousins making wonderful memories.

But today is grey and dank and blooming cold! I just cannot get warm, and if I wear any more clothes I won't be able to move. I can't wait for the clocks to go forward again.

Good health to those who have been ill - and good to hear some are on the mend.

Good morning everyone from north Kent where there is a sea mist wafting around the house and it looks very uninviting out there.

After a lovely day celebrating our 43rd wedding anniversary yesterday DD rang in the evening to say that GS2’s teacher had tested positive and the whole class has to self isolate so no going out for exercise. The class only saw her on Monday and she wore both a mask and visor throughout the day, but we shall obviously be chewing our collective fingernails for the next ten days whilst trying to remain cool and calm!

Lovely to hear from Marydoll and read about your excursion to the hospital; we have missed the novellas. Good news Urms; a weight off your mind.

Welcome JanetG to this lovely daily thread; beware -Urmstongran will probably be along to ask how much your house is worth - a small initiation rite that she inflicts on new members.

We were supposed to have heavy snow so I changed my click and collect shop to tomorrow instead of this morning. Forecast has changed and only a chance of light snow here in Shropshire. Going to spend the day sorting out drawers and wardrobe, decluttering - it is badly needed!

How good and entertaining to hear from Marydoll! Take care and rest up please.

Good morning all. We had another light fall of snow in Polmont which has frozen hard as the temperature is -4 at the moment. Pale blue sky above. I woke at five and contemplated getting up but next thing I knew it was half past eight and I was groggy. I've not moved much since then. A delivery of new casual clothes cheered me up twenty minutes ago. Everyone seems so busy! You put me to shame. I had been going to go to Aldi but I can't decide whether to go today or tomorrow. Viridian that is a lovely snail! And I loathe the real things. You are both creative and productive. Marydoll despite your worries you can tell such good tales of your adventures. Thank you. Urmston I'm glad your results are so positive. Having had a raft of blood tests etc in December,I know how you must feel. Such relief. Welcome to Janet. This is a friendly place. I just knew you’d still have difficulty with your perfectly planned hospital bag. The best laid plans in your house, eh? I have such an amusing picture in my head of your DH attempting to infiltrate the hospital with your phone charger and you, in that gown with no ties but giving directions at the window! Hope your cheeky rear view didn’t liven up the ward too much! Even though there’s no peace.....even in the bath.....please rest, step away from all work and get well soon.

All the sad news about neighbours, incapacity, worry, doubts, work, infection, loneliness,. We need to be here and pour it all out. We can support and inspire - and sometimes we do, because we care.
We also need to really laugh - thanks for the Would I Lie to You reminder tonight, Danni. Real laughter is so infectious. Love your little escargot, Viridian you’re so talented!

Good morning from north Surrey. Late to the party again this morning. Another poor night’s sleep in DD’s bed but we were up and out the door for school without too many challenges. Back home and online Pilates done. Now for shower and then off to mum and dad’s armed with my cleaning supplies, DH will take me and walk the dog locally to them for a change.
He is cooking beef stew for dinner, lovely hearty , comforting winter food.

I can't make out if there's been a sharp frost or a sprinkling of snow on the lawn----the latter possibly because although cold it looks damp. Unlike yesterday when I'd finally opened the curtains onto a very hard frost.

Tried to coax the old Tom inside to eat his breakfast but he wasn't having any and felt more secure outside. I don't know how he survives each winter even though he looks snug inside his kennel hidden against the wall. Loves his grub though.

Like it or not I have to go to the corner shop to stock up on cat food, but I'll have my little trolley for balance ( hate them, they make me feel old ) in case it's slithery underfoot, though if it's on the damp side it'll be okay.

D rang to say that the family support officer who pops in to see how the children and herself are doing has returned from a family visit in Zimbabwe so I told her on no account let her in and only speak to her via the window. Surely the woman will quarantine herself for two weeks ? It worried me. I think she landed yesterday.

I enjoyed my Spanish omelette yesterday and can still taste the onions a good cleanser though ! Fish chips and garden peas today. I'm so thankful for having a good appetite because many don't have that luxury in older age.

Another neighbour who's similar is 90 today and still does his own cooking. Maybe because he was brought up in restaurants with his parents. Someone drops their own garden produce off for him and the man himself gets his meat from a company in Scotland.

I'll be thinking of you today Susan and hoping all goes well. x Brilliant news for Urmston too x, nothing better than the " all clear ".
Marydoll I'm going to call you Calamity Jane what are you like ? So sick yet still that humour comes out. It's what keeps you going, girl. x Glad you're back though.

Dragonfly I hope your medication gets sorted to suit x It is an important part of our lives to get that right and we do have a lot to be thankful for with our NHS and GP's to keep us going.

Good morning everyone from the Angus coast where it's bright and sunny - and breezy and freezing! Had a lovely day yesterday enjoying DD's 47th birthday via WhatsApp. It's "living life by proxy" - and thank God for that! I'm just so delighted that she's found happiness again, and I count my blessings every day that all three of my children are happy and content in their lives.
So glad to hear that so many poorlies are feeling better now, and I hope you feel better soon too Ginny. Like you I've felt very down lately, but DD's B'day yesterday was the pick-me-up I needed. Good morning from a dismal cold Morecambe Bay where the weather doesn’t know whether it’s coming or going.
A bit like me at the moment. DH and I have spent time this morning attempting to sort or selves out and find ways to cope and be more positive. We have just gone round in circles, but at least moving house is now off the cards (again).
Thinking particularly this morning of Taravelsafarand her husband and Marydoll. It puts my problems into perspective!

Good morning from the Sefton coast. I aim to get out on my bike today as it’s become all too easy for me to avoid exercise. Note to self: you’ll feel better, may sleep better tonight, the bike won’t ride itself (you’ll realise when you see others that you’re not missing anything ).
Next DH will compose and ask me to chip in with the Asda order which is delivered late on Saturday night. We’re just so glad of it and we’re not going anywhere anyway! Hopefully I can add some flowers to add cheer.
Good news Urms, hope you fare equally well Susan. Marydoll can you bottle your positivity, humour and bravery? Make it available online?

Good morning everyone from the Gower. I think it must have snowed a bit during the night, no evidence in the garden but the heavily frosted lane is a bit of a giveaway.

We had our heating system serviced yesterday, what a palaver ?. As suspected there was an issue but whoa what a bucket feast the engineer made of it! He took foreverrrrrr. Draining, topping up, draining, and that was just how me and my WP felt ?. It didn't help as we were getting impatient to go out to get our click and collect, (imagine finger drumming here)! I know the guy had to do his job but the morning was gone. Finally the job got done, yippee ?. Later, when the heating was meant to come on (drum ? roll) it didn't! ?. My WP checked and yes, after all that draining, topping up and draining, he hadn't topped it up at the end! Stupid engineer ? ?. It works now, ker-ching!
What are we going to do today ... stay warm and cosy that's what ?

I’ve refined my supermarket order carefully but look forward to going round a supermarket again and choosing what I would like by looking at the fresh produce.

Good Morning from Harrogate where it is snowing heavens high and showing no signs of stopping anytime soon!! Last time I saw snow like this was 31st December 1978! We'd been at my parents in Prestwick for Hogmanay, when dad spotted a snowflake and urged us to go home (it very rarely snowed in Prestwick) We drove home with 2 small DDs in the car, we could see the snow was getting worse driving over the Fenwick Moors, finally got home. When DD2 opened the car door she almost disappeared in the deep snow. That snow stayed with us for 6 weeks. I had to take DD1 to school on a sledge. I also learned a lot about driving in the snow.

Good morning from snowy North Lancs. It snowed all night and is still snowing now although there’s only about 3-4 cm on the ground. Hi JanetG I lurk here more than post, but it’s a lovely thread. Marydoll your post about the charger was so funny to read-you painted such a vivid picture. Hope you are feeling better. Phones are such a big part of life that having no charger is a major drama!

Well Good Morning Mick, Annie, and all. I am hoping I manage to make this before it becomes, good afternoon.
I had my MRI scan this morning, and all went well. I had showered and got out the paperwork, when I realised that the venue was in Bracknell, and not in Reading! Whoops.
Luckily my volunteer driver took it all calmly in his stride, and we arrived rather early. I did feel a bit light headed towards the end of the scan, and I was seeing a beautiful ribbon of coloured lights. Perhaps because I hadn't had any breakfast. Now remedied with a poached egg on toast and some tea.
Marydoll, you are a tonic, even though you are supposed to be resting, you manage to find a sunny side to everything.
Urmstongran, good to hear that all your tests came back normal, and put your mind at reat.
Love the snail Viridian. Our youngest GC loves snails, and last year I crocheted him a snail family. But I have not seen a knitted pattern for one.
Good news for all those who have had tests and been negative.
For all those with snow and ice, do take care. No slips needed.
