For this who loved Ian Durie and the Blockheads, start here (if you don’t , skip this bit) www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwju9OTm0I7uAhWDxIUKHTV0Co4QwqsBMAB6BAgHEAM&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DCIMNXogXnvE&usg=AOvVaw0PsAx-fdKCOAIPW-ijO0yf
Right - now to my point.....
Isn’t it time we looked for and shared reasons to be cheerful?

This is my contribution for this morning

The Bath Oliver, one of Britain’s favourite biscuits, has been granted a reprieve, as production has restarted following an outcry over its disappearance.
Some eagle-eyed shoppers had spotted the biscuit was absent from supermarket shelves in October, with owner Pladis, formerly known as United Biscuits, saying the pandemic had caused it to cease production of the British stalwart
But fans of the snack, once famed for its qualities as a medical digestive, are in luck as the factory lines are now back up and running

What’s your reason to be cheerful? smile

Surviving so far and being retired so I do not have to cope with work in current circumstances. (I was a teacher) Having a warm home and a delivery from Asda booked for this Thursday!!

Just agreed a price with landscaper to start on our new garden. I have never managed to persuade DH before to let a professional do this. It wasn't as expensive as I feared either. Roll on spring.

Sat here with my weekly treat of a beautiful crisp bacon butty, done in white buttered bread - yum !

Got up this morning to sun on the snow and blue skies - picturesque and a lovely change from the dismal snowy days we've had recently.

Beautiful crisp sunny morning. Just come back from a walk by the sea. Soup and cheese on toast for lunch. What more could you want ?

Bakingmad0203 Sat 09-Jan-21 11:36:23

Just finished a hot chocolate topped with cream and marshmallows- yummy! Now looking forward to a walk in the snow. It’s so peaceful

I'm truly grateful for the lovely, kind and generous person who is my husband.

My two closest friends have had husbands die this last year. It has made me even more grateful.. and even those days when we are perhaps both feeling a bit fed, up I am stkll so very grateful we are together.

Still here. Goodness knows how! This week my DH had his annual test for his prostate cancer. Still cancer free after 7 years. smile

That’s a good reason to be cheerful Kate!
We are here, we have a warm house and food on the table and each other’s company! smile

I'm with you, Ashcombe, how I would hate to be teaching right now.

Two days of snow here, lovely snowmen in neigbour's garden,
well stocked up with food and logs for the wood-burner, still all well and the vaccination programme is running smoothly here,

No complaints, here.

Similar here, @NotSpaghetti. Apart from others in the past year or two, a friend’s husband died on Christmas Eve - not Covid and completely unexpected. Younger than dh, too. ?

DD’s 3 x rescued battery hens that arrived at the end of November are enjoying being able to peck and scratch in a nice big run, are growing new feathers to cover the bald bits, and are laying eggs for them, too.

AFAIK, all the family are well.
And it’s sunny!
So much to be thankful for.

Built a snowman in absent neighbours garden and showed it to grandchildren on FaceTime.
I revert to childhood in the snow.

It's a lovely sunny day and I have hoovered out my elderly car, and am now going to give it a birthday and wash it! It had got rather a lot of mud from the allotment inside, we need it to be decent for next week as we have to go to the funeral of DHs BIL who sadly died suddenly before Christmas, not covid, but a massive heart attack. Also sent DH off for a gentle street walk and he feels much better for it.

I stepped onto my new bathroom scales this morning and was relieved to find that I had put on less weight than I expected. That cheered me up enormously.

Viridian Sat 09-Jan-21 14:20:23

Nice thread Mawbe. Sitting outside at night under the stars. Puts things into perspective.

Outside temperature 'rose' to zero. Managed a careful walk. Enjoyed but glad to be back in the safety and warmth of home.

My reason to be Jolly is having spent 24/7 with Mr Jolly for the past 9 months we're still enjoying each other's company. Just an occasional very small crack a couple of times which were quickly and easily patched. Very content in our bubble of 2, cosy house, food in the cupboard and both in very good health.

Hearing the happy laughter of children out enjoying the snow

Sainsburys have just informed me that I’m 9th on the list of buyers of physalis from the online shopping depot. Which must beat being the top buyer of cheap cider.
