For this who loved Ian Durie and the Blockheads, start here (if you don’t , skip this bit) www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwju9OTm0I7uAhWDxIUKHTV0Co4QwqsBMAB6BAgHEAM&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DCIMNXogXnvE&usg=AOvVaw0PsAx-fdKCOAIPW-ijO0yf
Right - now to my point.....
Isn’t it time we looked for and shared reasons to be cheerful?

This is my contribution for this morning

The Bath Oliver, one of Britain’s favourite biscuits, has been granted a reprieve, as production has restarted following an outcry over its disappearance.
Some eagle-eyed shoppers had spotted the biscuit was absent from supermarket shelves in October, with owner Pladis, formerly known as United Biscuits, saying the pandemic had caused it to cease production of the British stalwart
But fans of the snack, once famed for its qualities as a medical digestive, are in luck as the factory lines are now back up and running

What’s your reason to be cheerful? smile

Mumagain is that the Bath Sally Lynn you mention? I used to work in Bath and have had a few lunches in Sally Lunn's with friends - lovely old building and HUGE buns!

Sorry, off topic here. Cheer today is: the sun is shining, I bought my first bunch of daffodils for the year recently and they are now opening up, and my son has made us a lovely brunch. Today is a good day smile

Thanks Jane10 will do!

Finished all the puzzles in today's paper!

Now I must go out for a walk while the sun is bright, even though its freezing out there

Sunday brunch of a bacon, lettuce and tomato panini with lashing of Hellman’s! Also, both DD and DiL have had their first vaccinations as part of the NHS roll out, so a little added peace of mind. And DH and I are still standing! Creaking, but standing?!

Reason's to be cheerful?

Being woken every ,morning by my cat purring loudly in my ear - not affection of course but "where is my breakfast?"

Two croissants with jam and butter for breakfast although not every day.

Daily phone call from family to check I am still breathing!

My neighbour's reason would be, as he often tells me.
"When you wake up. stretch out your arms, and if you don't feel wood you are still alive!" which must be the greatest reason to be cheerful.

I suppose I should have added that I had my second vaccination last Thursday, exactly 21 days after the first one. Of course no-one really knows how effective they will be but at least we have been given a ray of hope. I gather even the best, Pfizer, has 95% protection so we just have to hope we are not in the 5%!

My reason to be cheerful is that my body decided to have a very rare cancer four years ago and not now! Wouldn’t fancy my chances now in this COVID climate and my heart goes out to those whose treatment has been delayed.

Got up early this morning to no frozen footpaths, so the dog and I got back out enjoying our long route instead of the skating rink we have crept along every day for a short walk. No one else about, bliss.

Beloved and both woke up this morning. Can't get much better than that.

I'm sitting here in a lovely warm house, I don't have to go out to work. I have some savings to tide me over till I get my pension this year. Plenty to eat and drink and lots of books to read. I couldn't ask for more. I consider myself very lucky especially when you think of the homeless this time of year

LauraNorder Sun 10-Jan-21 15:26:20

I’m grateful for a happy, healthy family, a great husband and a warm house.
My sylphlike figure, long thick glossy hair and wonderful bone structure.
Only one sentence is true.

Bluebellwould Sun 10-Jan-21 15:33:31

JaneRn, that made me laugh because wood is also a euphemism for a morning erection, if I’m allowed to say that ?

Aepgirl Sun 10-Jan-21 15:42:57

My evening FaceTime with my daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. It’s something to look forward to, and always makes me cheerful.

Skallagrigg Sun 10-Jan-21 15:47:10

My son sent me little video of my new granddaughter, born 3rd Dec. who I have yet to meet

Reason to be cheerful? The cat finally did a poo! We'd been anxiously awaiting an 'outcome' and feared a blockage. Vet said next step would be investigative surgery. DH has been following poor Baz around for days.
It's the little things!

What a relief for you and the cat grin

Knowledge that I have a job that I enjoy.
I hated my last job, it was part time and minimum wage but I was stuck in it for almost 3 years because as a single parent I had to work to pay the bills.
I suspect my age and the fact that I had taken a long career break to raise my 3 DC (all with additional needs) weighed heavily against me in my job search, in spite of the very good grades in my BSc and MSc that I had gained very recently as evidence that I wasn't past it ?.
I had just about given up hope of ever leaving when a year ago I was offered my current position. Still not great pay but absolutely rewarding and challenging I am grateful every day.

sharon103 Sun 10-Jan-21 16:28:47

One of our cats was poorly yesterday. Being sick and asleep on the sofa all day. She looked quite sorry for herself bless her.
It would happen at the weekend when the vets are closed.
I'm relieved and happy to say, she's as fit as a butchers dog today. smile

Not very many really. Pretty boring day follows pretty boring day. Never thought a high point in my day would be going out for teabags (I combine a little shop with daily exercise.) I have never spent so much unrelieved time with DH either. Or realised that he has to argue every single tedious point. This morning we spent a fascinating twenty minutes arguing about whether the robin on the bird table was the same one who used to come last year. It will soon be time for dinner, then bed, though - I'm beginning to feel like a cruise ship prisoner at the moment. I've never been on one but my SIL has and said between ports all she thought about was food and sleep.

lemongrove Sun 10-Jan-21 18:36:10

Lulu?

Sharon that’s good news about your cat, although we don’t have one at the moment, we have had cats, usually two at a time all our married life, and although a worry when they are sick, have often found it’s better not to rush them off to the vet but wait a couple of days. They perk up nine times out of ten. After all, when we are sick ourselves we don’t rush off to the GP ( well, I don’t anyway) ?

lemongrove Sun 10-Jan-21 18:38:14

A reason to be cheerful today....it’s cold and a bit foggy out and we have been cosy inside, with a fire and lighted candles,
Doing crosswords, reading and watching tv and catching up on emails and phone calls.

merlotgran Sun 10-Jan-21 20:07:19

The Great Pottery Throwdown is back!

Definitely a reason to be cheerful.

LauraNorder Sun 10-Jan-21 20:28:16

Yes Merlotgran and landscape artist this week too. Yey

sharon103 Sun 10-Jan-21 21:36:03

Thank you lemongrove. She's back to her old self now.
You're right, I don't usually rush to the vet. I go to good old Google first.
My son was more worried. when she was first sick she started meowing loudly, she was walking slowly then her body was twitching. He thought she might have had a stroke or heart attack as she's quite old at 13.
But hey, she's fine now. Thanks again smile
