Seems Harry & Meghan have quit social media ‘for good’.

Announced on Catherine’s birthday? What a couple. Me, me, me ...

They are the sort of people who would announce a pregnancy at somebody else's wedding.

Shameful hypocrites the pair of them. I’m amazed they are unable to see why people are so peed off with them. Living in a multi million pound house and preaching about charity. Wake up you loons!

Nice.

I think many more people should give up the destructive elements of social media. A lot of moans about how they are being disgracefully trolled, yet they keep reading . Go cold turkey and support mental health I say.

Social media gives people a voice. It is one of the main forms of communication and public discourse. If those who are trolled leave the only people who have a voice will be abusive, quite frankly dangerous people. We dont just ignore abusive behaviour and we shouldn't tell the victims of that abuse should not go to a particular space.

I don’t think Meghan and Harry will stay away from social media for long, but they probably prefer Netflix because they can put out their own views without any comeback.
Tbh I think it would be better for most celebrities to stay off the likes of Twitter, certainly better for them. The genie is out of the bottle and celebs will always get a hard time, particularly when they say how ‘hard’ their lives are!

I watched a programme on Camilla last night. It seems the way she won the people over was by keeping quiet, and never expressing her feelings or problems to journalists.

I always thought Camilla was ok- very ladylike and dignified. Unlike young Meghan who, as an actress, seems overly concerned with attention seeking and the media. I always thought Harry was ok- a bit thick but a nice person. We have a phrase here to describe him connected with cats and whips.

Galaxy Fri 15-Jan-21 08:42:15

Dont be shy nana, if you are going to use misogynistic phrases at least have the courage of your convictions.

Everyone who says they don't do social media, you do - on here! grin Forums are media and you are socialising!

Yes - it reminds me of the billboards that you used to see in Germany "You're not stuck in traffic, you are traffic"

GagaJo Fri 15-Jan-21 09:00:16

Ellianne, it is a massive over assumption that Camilla has won people over. C&C had to block comments on their social media due to the amount of hate comments they got.

NotSpaghetti Fri 15-Jan-21 09:05:10

Wonder why H and M didn’t just block comments Gagajo?

dragonfly46 Fri 15-Jan-21 09:05:20

I don’t think The Crown, true or not, did C & C any favours!

Lucretzia Fri 15-Jan-21 09:09:51

That was only recently, GagaJo

After the showing of that awful programme. The Crown

Galaxy Fri 15-Jan-21 09:12:00

It's not up to other people to tell those on the end of threats and abuse how to respond to that.

Esspee Fri 15-Jan-21 09:16:43

I am extremely surprised to see anyone stating Camilla has won people over.

In my neck of the woods a married woman or man who has an affair with another married person thereby causing the breakdown of their marriages is socially unacceptable.....even (or even more so) when the adulterous couple eventually marry.
Both Camilla and Charles behaved disgracefully and will get no respect from the majority of the population ever.

Long May the Queen live. Charles ascending the throne will turn the U.K. into a republic.

GagaJo Fri 15-Jan-21 09:18:37

I'm with you Esspee.

Anniebach Fri 15-Jan-21 09:53:10

Both Diana and Andrew Parker Bowles had affairs when married

GagaJo Fri 15-Jan-21 09:57:45

APB, I don't have much of an opinion about. Diana, in response to desperate need and cruelty from her husband and his own affair.

NOT that I am a royalist. Waste of money IMO. But...

honeyrose Fri 15-Jan-21 10:04:33

This may seem cruel, but I have an image in my mind’s eye of Harry as the puppet, dangling and dancing limply from the strings that Meghan pulls.

Anniebach Fri 15-Jan-21 10:05:10

Then the same can be said of Camilla - in desperate need and cruelty from her husband and his many affairs

He's an exceptionally wealthy and well connected adult that makes his own choices. And seems very happy with his little family.

celebs will always get a hard time, particularly when they say how ‘hard’ their lives are!

.... particularly when they post up photos of themselves in bikinis by the pool saying they are there "for work" when they should not have travelled in the first place, and the rest of us are struggling on in a wintry lockdown.

Sparklefizz Fri 15-Jan-21 10:08:05

But Camilla did not have the eyes of the world on her and the paparazzi hounding her. She was/is a much tougher cookie.

Anniebach Fri 15-Jan-21 10:16:21

I think Diana was a very tough cookie and encouraged the media

Sparklefizz Fri 15-Jan-21 10:18:19

Tough cookies don't deal with the terrible unhappiness and stress they are under by developing bulimia and cutting themselves, Anniebach.
