Hello Everyone smile
New thread here.
Thank you all so very much for your company on the first thread.
I'm looking forward to our half asleep, woozy 2am chats moonbrew

FannyCornforth Sun 17-Jan-21 23:58:56

Hello, calling all Night Owls, anyone swooping about? moon

Doodle Mon 18-Jan-21 00:00:03

Hello Fanny just on a fly past. ?

FannyCornforth Mon 18-Jan-21 00:04:41

Hello Doodle! Are you enjoying your quiet time?
I came to bed ridiculously early because I was exhausted, so am now wide awake. Which is of course a stupid state of affairs. Absolutely no routine...

Doodle Mon 18-Jan-21 00:06:56

Yes I am. Out DH to bed about an hour ago and just having a bit of wind down time for myself. I will be heading off to bed soon. How’s your DH doing?

crazyH Mon 18-Jan-21 00:07:11

My night has just begun..........I am on the “swoop”?

Georgesgran Mon 18-Jan-21 00:11:18

Still up watching the best of Gogglebox 2020 on 4+1.

FannyCornforth Mon 18-Jan-21 00:15:09

Hello CrazyH
Thank you for asking Doodle. I think that it's becoming apparent that he's got Long Covid. He's on more antibiotics for his chest. He's still very upbeat bless him.
But tbh I'm feeling so guilty that we went to the hospital for my appointment, as I'm sure that he caught it there. I know it's a waste of time, but it's playing on my mind now sad Mind you, there's nothing I could have done, as he would have insisted on taking me.
Sorry for the gloom!

Mollygo Mon 18-Jan-21 00:15:57

Have a good night all.
Working on the basis that if I go to bed late I might sleep better, I’ve just watched several episodes of House and now I’m in bed. If it works . . .

FannyCornforth Mon 18-Jan-21 00:20:21

I've seen on another thread that a certain brand of tea is recommended for a good night's sleep. I'm pretty certain that I've tried it and it did nowt.

Doodle Mon 18-Jan-21 00:26:01

Fanny I once persuaded DH to do a long days decorating with me. A few days later he had a TIA. I always thought that was my fault too.
The most important thing is you’ve got him home now and he can build up his strength again with you by his side.

FannyCornforth Mon 18-Jan-21 00:31:05

Thank you Doodle, what a lovely thing to say.
I think it's just a phase that I've got to get out of my system. I do that quite a bit. Better than bottling it up.
How is your husband?

Doodle Mon 18-Jan-21 00:36:53

Much better than he was thank you but it will take a while for him to be able to do much. He is ok when in bed or sitting relaxing in a chair but if he stands up or leans forward or bends down it is still very painful for him so. He has halved the number of painkillers he was on when he came home from hospital so he is obviously doing better but I think it will take time.
Hope you get some sleep tonight. I am off to bed to try and sleep soon. Take care all and hopefully have a good and peaceful night. ?

crazyH Mon 18-Jan-21 00:38:26

Hello FannyC...You all seem to know one another very well...? I just wander in and out and never get to know anyone well.
I’m Watching Dementia on YouTube ...scary !!!!!!

FannyCornforth Mon 18-Jan-21 00:46:02

crazyH - not really! We haven't known each other very long.
I've got a tendency to over share, I suppose, and I do spend a lot of time on here. I think I may have forced people to get to know me! blush

Thank you, and good night Doodle. Hope you have a peaceful night moon

FannyCornforth Mon 18-Jan-21 00:48:12

Aah, sailing by...

Rufus2 Mon 18-Jan-21 03:41:00

I think I may have forced people to get to know me! blush
Fanny But you're so forceful; that's just one of your attractions! tchgrin
Good Morning Owlets.
If you're wide awake Kim perhaps you could care to comment on my light lunch'
No soup, again, but can't decide between;
Al dente penne pasta topped with a mild arrabiata sauce
or
Chicken Fettuccine.

It's a nice, warm sunny day here, so I could sleep it off on the sun-lounger!
Hang on! I haven't cleaned it yet; my friendly magpies use it as a perch and are always leaving their calling cards. I'm sure it's not owls!
Think I'll have lunch first in case I lose my appetite. tchhmm
Carry on Dreaming!

Kim19 Mon 18-Jan-21 04:19:16

Chicken F every time. No contest. Is one supposed to 'clean' sun loungers? Heaven forfend. You've now made me glad I've no need for one. I never clean my snow shovel!

Mollygo Mon 18-Jan-21 05:20:34

Definitely chicken fettuccine. This is a waste of a night. House is off the menu and I’m on my second book. Glad to hear it’s sunny somewhere.

FannyCornforth Mon 18-Jan-21 08:51:56

Oh Molly. I do hope that you managed to get some sleep eventually.

Rufus2 Tue 19-Jan-21 01:01:43

Is one supposed to 'clean' sun loungers?
G'Day all! Bright and early; a bit cool, but quite invigorating!
Kim Not if you don't mind resting your head back on a "pillow" of magpie "poo", otherwise euphemistically known as "calling cards"!
They prefer to perch on the top of the head-rest whilst waiting for a feed and leave a layer of "guano" which would be very welcome in a garden context.
Take a look at any statue that hasn't been toppled in support of the BLM movement and you'll see what I mean. tchshock
Faced with the prospect of our temperature rising to 38C by the week-end I made the cleaning task No 1 priority, anticipating doing some lounging, "in the shade of the old lemon tree"
Btw; I passed on both soups and went for steak and kidney for dinner instead. Very filling! tchhmm
Today's Soup of the Day hasn't been chalked up on the board yet!
Pleasant dreams!

Kim19 Tue 19-Jan-21 01:09:22

Hey Rufus..... g'day! I thought that white stuff on top of statues was simple hair colouring. Well well...... Have to say I think steak & kidney was far better than any soup. Good choice!

FannyCornforth Tue 19-Jan-21 04:16:09

Good morning Owls moon
Rufus re steak and kidney pies. MrC is extremely partial to a s&k pie, but it has to be the kind 'encased' in shortcrust pastry as a opposed to what we refer to as a 'scatter pie'.
Scatter pies are what one usually gets served in British pubs - a sort of strew in a ramekin topped with a lid of flakey pastry which explodes into a million crumbs as soon as a knife comes into contact with it.

FannyCornforth Tue 19-Jan-21 04:17:23

Stew - not 'strew', whatever that is confused

FannyCornforth Tue 19-Jan-21 04:21:49

I once got covered in guano on a sunlounger. It was in Goa and I had rather foolishly put my lounger under a tree. I was quietly reading my book and a crow let rip. I was absolutely covered in it.
It took me ages to wash it off. There was so much of it. From then on I referred to the crows as Goan tree-dogs.

nanna8 Tue 19-Jan-21 04:39:52

That happened to my husband up in Far North Queensland. A sea eagle pooped all over his head and it was like dog poo. He had to go and have a shower. We were all killing ourselves laughing, especially one of the people we were with who was blind, he said he hadn’t laughed so much in years. There are only about 6 sea eagles in Cairns and he had to find one ! ?
