Herrings, that awful tripe we used to have when we were young. Nasty white stuff with onions. I don’t like honey, either but that’s about it, I like most food.

Casdon Thu 14-Jan-21 13:05:58

Cucumber, the only food in the world that manages to be slimy and crunchy at the same time- and it also tastes vile.
Melon
Anchovies
Tea, the smell has always turned my stomach.
I’ll eat anything else.

Blossoming Thu 14-Jan-21 13:09:03

Anchovies, utterly disgusting.

NotSpaghetti Thu 14-Jan-21 13:17:34

Anything meaty textured (especially meat) and the smelly fruit you can't take on aeroplanes.
I was disappointed not to like the fruit, I have to admit. Have tried to like it but just can't.

MILK, except in cooking, it makes me heave if I even smell it, let alone taste it, and, not unsurprisingly, I loathe yoghourt and cottage cheese
Eggs, except in cooking
Anything made from goats milk.

I am interested to see how many people have milk on their list. I read recently, that this can be a sign of mild lactose intolerance, that disappears as the milk becomes more processed, so that many who loathe milk love cheese, but generally prefer hard cheese to soft.

Sara1954 Thu 14-Jan-21 14:33:03

Yes, I can’t bear milk except in tea, and how anyone can eat cottage cheese, and actually claim to enjoy it, is beyond me.

sharon103 Thu 14-Jan-21 14:44:40

My Granny's home made brawn. I must have been about 6 when I saw her making this. She had half a boiled pigs head nestled in the crook of her arm like a grotesque baby and was scooping out the disgusting innards with a large spoon. I have never eaten brawn since.

Funny how so many of us dislike milk, my school days were marred by the white stuff, sadThatcher the Milk Snatcher's reign was years away! but could have done with her for that purpose. Then there was all manner of white stuff with lumps in, potatoes, rice pudding etc. However, those days are long gone, but neat milk continues to make me gag, although I like it in coffee and tea.

I'm not a fussy eater, but innards and offal is off limits for me. Tripe doesn't bear thinking about.

Of late I've gone off eggs in a big way, I can eat scrambled flavoured with chives or smoked salmon, or an omelette with chorizo, peppers and other ingredients that disguise their flavour. What I don't want to taste is egg!, a fried egg would just make me heave these days. A shame because they are an excellent source of protein.

Quorn and tofu yet to be convinced, don't like them.

Aubergines, they look so attractive in their natural form, I can eat them but they're slimy and unappetising to me.

Grandma70s Thu 14-Jan-21 15:18:17

Avocado, smoked salmon. It’s the texture.

I’ve never eaten tripe, but I don’t need to in order to know I hate it!

I once asked this question to a philippine immigrant who was driving me - just for soemthing to say. He stared at me in surprise and replied "All food is good!"

I felt quite ashamed. He was right, of course - when you know what hunger means.
