Herrings, that awful tripe we used to have when we were young. Nasty white stuff with onions. I don’t like honey, either but that’s about it, I like most food.

Washerwoman Thu 14-Jan-21 16:48:30

Only two things I can't eat.Kidneys and tripe. The first remind me of the smell of urine from nursing days. And the second my grandma was always cooking.Other than that I will eat anything.
Drinks wise can't stand whisky or brandy.Just the very small of it -ugh.

I once asked this question to a philippine immigrant who was driving me - just for soemthing to say. He stared at me in surprise and replied "All food is good!"

I felt quite ashamed. He was right, of course - when you know what hunger means.

Grandma70s Thu 14-Jan-21 15:18:17

Avocado, smoked salmon. It’s the texture.

I’ve never eaten tripe, but I don’t need to in order to know I hate it!

Funny how so many of us dislike milk, my school days were marred by the white stuff, sadThatcher the Milk Snatcher's reign was years away! but could have done with her for that purpose. Then there was all manner of white stuff with lumps in, potatoes, rice pudding etc. However, those days are long gone, but neat milk continues to make me gag, although I like it in coffee and tea.

I'm not a fussy eater, but innards and offal is off limits for me. Tripe doesn't bear thinking about.

Of late I've gone off eggs in a big way, I can eat scrambled flavoured with chives or smoked salmon, or an omelette with chorizo, peppers and other ingredients that disguise their flavour. What I don't want to taste is egg!, a fried egg would just make me heave these days. A shame because they are an excellent source of protein.

Quorn and tofu yet to be convinced, don't like them.

Aubergines, they look so attractive in their natural form, I can eat them but they're slimy and unappetising to me.

My Granny's home made brawn. I must have been about 6 when I saw her making this. She had half a boiled pigs head nestled in the crook of her arm like a grotesque baby and was scooping out the disgusting innards with a large spoon. I have never eaten brawn since.

Sara1954 Thu 14-Jan-21 14:33:03

Yes, I can’t bear milk except in tea, and how anyone can eat cottage cheese, and actually claim to enjoy it, is beyond me.

M0nica Thu 14-Jan-21 14:27:13

MILK, except in cooking, it makes me heave if I even smell it, let alone taste it, and, not unsurprisingly, I loathe yoghourt and cottage cheese
Eggs, except in cooking
Anything made from goats milk.

I am interested to see how many people have milk on their list. I read recently, that this can be a sign of mild lactose intolerance, that disappears as the milk becomes more processed, so that many who loathe milk love cheese, but generally prefer hard cheese to soft.

Casdon I went off tea and couldn't stand the smell during my last pregnancy and never fancied it since, my daughter is 44 now smile

NotSpaghetti Thu 14-Jan-21 13:17:34

Anything meaty textured (especially meat) and the smelly fruit you can't take on aeroplanes.
I was disappointed not to like the fruit, I have to admit. Have tried to like it but just can't.

Blossoming Thu 14-Jan-21 13:09:03

Anchovies, utterly disgusting.

Casdon Thu 14-Jan-21 13:05:58

Cucumber, the only food in the world that manages to be slimy and crunchy at the same time- and it also tastes vile.
Melon
Anchovies
Tea, the smell has always turned my stomach.
I’ll eat anything else.

GagaJo Thu 14-Jan-21 12:55:10

Tripe - the look is off putting.
Black pepper when the fad was to cover food in it before serving. I just shake the pepper mill over my scrambled egg without twisting.

I was explaining about that very thing to one of my milk drinking students last week, Charlygirl5. Warm school milk. I nearly gagged remembering!

I can't stand black pudding or kidneys.

I'd never had pease pudding until a job interview up north. They had thoughtfully provided sandwiches for us, and I took what I thought was a ham and avocado sandwich. It turned out to be ham and pease pudding. Disgusting! I wanted to spit it out but I wanted the job so forced it down with a glug of coffee. Still can't bear it.
