I have been very limited in my title as I don’t want to be rude
Laurence Fox has now bought himself an exemption lanyard off Amazon so he doesn’t need to wear a mask I believe he hinted at anxiety although I m not sure if that’s his full reasoning He also held a party I believe at his house in November
This man is an utter disgrace

You're right Kandinsky Rita Ora did exactly the same thing, threw a party , posted about it and then tried to apologise. I'm sorry but that just doesn't hold any water. Its not like you can accidentally throw a party is it :-)

These people in the public eye, who spout their ridiculous views, are very dangerous as they do influence many who can’t think for themselves.
The worst thing about social media is that these idiots can run freely out of control and yet if we censored it we would lose our hard won freedom of speech.
What’s to be done.

lemsip Sun 17-Jan-21 12:27:41

All the hatred for a person you don't know.
he would find some of the posters loathesome too were he to meet them!
enough is enough I think!

To Bluebell, now you know what is thought.

Kandinsky, it matters not a jot that other ‘celebs’ broke lockdown rules.
EllenVannin I agree with your comments about his physical appearance. His face looks ravaged. Makes me wonder what in his lifestyle is contributing to what seems to be declining m.h,

GagaJo Sun 17-Jan-21 12:34:24

Lemsip, notoriety is Laurence Fox's way to make a living now. He would love us talking about him.

JenniferEccles Sun 17-Jan-21 12:36:07

I have agreed with Laurence Fox on several counts in the past, particularly with his views of whatever is the latest woke nonsense, but I am certainly not with him this time.

Obviously none of us know anything about his health, mental and physical, but to make it publicly known that he is allegedly ‘exempt’ from wearing a mask is just irresponsible attention seeking at its worst.

Kandinsky Sun 17-Jan-21 12:40:37

Have you ever thought his Mother might be on GN?
Imagine reading all these hateful posts about your sons appearance and that he’s the neglected child.
Some of you really need to take a look at yourselves & ask why you’re so spiteful.
Comment on what he says yes, but ripping his appearance apart is just disgusting - the irony being, I bet none of you are exactly Miss World.

A Twat on Twitter- who come across as a spoiled brat , who just cant get his own way. I was wondered at first if it was just a publicity stunt, as poor Actors are not in work - not so sure now? but let face we are talking about him?

As far as the Lanyard is concerned here is a story of those that push the boundaries.

I'm a Health Care profession , in our clinic a few weeks ago , a more than capable chap turned up for clinic, no mask on he had on one of these Daisy Lanyards hanging around his neck.
We told him he was not coming into our clinic with no mask on, he waved a Lanyard at us said he was exempt? Funny how he could get himself from his home, to the Hospital into our clinic , but not be able to put it on to come in for Treatment . We told by us 'No Mask - Your Not coming in' - He put it on, did he really think we are that stupid to not know someone who is genuine? what a load of Bull-Dust !

Saw Laurence Fox on Celebrity Gogglebox - he has a foul mouth, so different to his famous relatives.

Anniebach Sun 17-Jan-21 13:30:02

Several foul mouthed on Gogglebox

Well said, kandinsky. This thread takes the bitchiness biscuit.

Lucca Sun 17-Jan-21 14:00:23

The bitchiness biscuit could easily be shared by the endless h and m threads. Just saying. And even if you think they are silly or too woke etc at least they are not advocating breaking Covid rules !

mumofmadboys Sun 17-Jan-21 16:01:26

His mum died last April

Callistemon Sun 17-Jan-21 16:05:59

Something about the eldest getting everything first and the youngest being the spoilt baby
NfkDumpling I'll ask him. I'm sure he'll agree
???

Iam64 Sun 17-Jan-21 16:10:07

I never use ‘bitchiness’ because it is often used as a means of shutting women up. The criticisms of Fox here seem accurate to me, it’s a discussion.

Is he breaking covid rules, lucca?

I thought some people were exempt from mask wearing for health reasons.

Callistemon Sun 17-Jan-21 16:13:10

He can't help his looks but his behaviour can be criticised surely?
If he comes out with racist, bigoted comments, calls someone a paedophile, claims to have bought a lanyard from Amazon so he doesn't have to wear a mask (if he is exempt his doctor will give him an exemption card) and is a danger to others then I think it is fair to hold him up as a bad example isn't it?

If I was his mother I'd be thoroughly ashamed of him.

Baggs Sun 17-Jan-21 16:13:59

Men can be bitchy too, iam. I'm using it in an ungendered way.

Baggs Sun 17-Jan-21 16:16:03

Lot of ifs in that post, callis.

The point I'm trying to make is that a person's public persona isn't everything. I think people might be jumping to conclusions based on insufficient evidence.

Ok, Baggs
But do I want to be sued for stating the obvious?

I think the evidence has been public and damning and he certainly attracts the wrong kind of publicity.

Perhaps his career has hit the buffers and he is shouting "Look at Me"!

Callistemon Sun 17-Jan-21 16:22:43

Laurence Fox is launching a new political party dubbed the "Ukip for culture."

The controversial actor, 42, has already raised £1million for the venture - including substantial sums from ex-Tory donors, according to The Sunday Telegraph.

A Westminster source called the new Reclaim party “a Ukip for culture” which the Conservative party “should be frightened about”.

Baggs Sun 17-Jan-21 16:34:30

Who 'dubbed' it though, •callis•? Is it really what it has been 'dubbed'?

I've just had a skim through LF's Twitter feed (not the Reclaim one). I didn't see anything racist or bigoted. He seems to retweet a fair few opinions by other people (many of them respectable) on the lockdown scepticism front.

Who did he call a paedophile?

Baggs Sun 17-Jan-21 16:44:26

Had a look through The Reclaim Party Twitter feed now. Although its approach doesn't appeal to me much (neither do other political party Twitter approaches for the most part, whatever their position on the political spectrum), it doesn't strike me as extreme. Things brought up do seem to be things that need discussing in public and deciding on democratically.

Have you tried to get an exemption card from your GP? I did and was told to download one from the internet. It also says quite clearly on the government website that no-one should be required to show evidence that they are exempt from mask wearing - it should be taken on trust.

Doodledog Sun 17-Jan-21 17:31:06

I think he's horrible. His racist, entitled views are repugnant, and I can imagine his party will attract undesirables of all stripes, but I agree with GrannyRose that no-one should have to show evidence of their mask exemption.

I feel like this partly because of the views of people like Fox, and like the chap on Big Questions this morning, who insisted that some lives are worth more than others. If we start having to show evidence of our health to all and sundry, where does it end? The world is getting ever more scary where that sort of thing is concerned, and I can't help feeling that this could be the thin end of a very nasty wedge.

I believe very strongly that health records should be between doctor and patient, and that nobody should have the right to ask questions, or have people 'marked out' as unhealthy.
