Which Name Would You Choose?

For Yourself, I mean?

(Hello by the way smile)

A bit of light relief on a Monday morning.

What name would you choose for yourself - first, middle, surname, whatever?

One thing that I miss about MN are the baby name threads, I love thinking about names, I think that lots of women do, whether it's from a baby point of view or due an interest in words.

I suppose it depends upon what 'suits' you aswell...

And has anyone ever called you something else for a prolonged amount of time?
When I did voluntary work at a museum, another volunteer was of the firmly held belief that my name was Heather (it isn't).

I'm undecided at present what name I'd choose, but I will mull it over while you post yours (please!)

Thank you x

Or Zara?

FannyCornforth Tue 19-Jan-21 09:58:52

Not Zara, Zoe, Gemma or Jessica!
(Love Flora by the way)

No! I'm sure that you will kick yourself.
I bet that if either your family, or a friend's family, has got a woman in their 30s, you will have one!

Hope that the above makes some sort of sense confused

Callistemon Tue 19-Jan-21 10:11:49

Clare, Claire, Clair
But I do know women in their 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s called one of the above variations
Then there was Claire Bloom (nearly 90)

I had recurring dreams when i was young.
I was around 7 years old and worked in a castle as a bread girl who delivered bread to those around the castle itself, and my name was Catherine Hastings.
I can remember those dreams vividly.
So that is the name i would choose

I'm drawn to the names of actresses I like - Anouk Aimee ("A Man and a Woman, 1966) Hmm, maybe too close to Nanook of the North. Also Cate (Blanchett) and Saoirse (Ronan). I don't know how to pronounce that last one: I just like the look of it!

yggdrasil Tue 19-Jan-21 11:27:02

Saoirse = Sur-sha

Marmight Tue 19-Jan-21 11:50:03

....or Niamh or Sinead or Siobhan ??

My mother would have liked to be a Clare, but wasn’t.
For myself, I like a lot of French Christian names.
As a child I wanted to be called Gloria, like my best friend who had lovely red ringlets. Not keen now.
Out in the evening with friends, I often choose a different Christian name for fun, usually exotic and they introduce me as such.
Remember that, going out with a gaggle of girlfriends?
Another planet it seems now.

Another pauline here that hated that name along with middle name of Mary, also hated surname, which had an 'e' at the end, which always had to be spelt out, once teceived a letter addressed to Miss PM **withaney.
In my mind I would be a Tallulah.
I love the name of Cheryl, my first daughters name, and Charmaine which is my grandaughters middle name, a coincidence as my daughter wad unaware of this.
I prefer my married surname

I mentioned Alexander/Alexandra for all of my DGC but no, as they would get shortened to Alex.

Witzend Tue 19-Jan-21 12:36:58

Bethany?
Zoe?

I also hated my name as a child, it’s unusual and foreign and being very shy I never liked telling people! For some reason I always wanted to be called Rachael!

FannyCornforth Tue 19-Jan-21 15:29:25

No - nobody's got it so far...
The name hit peak popularity for girls born in the late eighties -
early nineties.

BlueSky I love Alexander and Alexandra
