Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark , but dry , cold and frosty out there in Brackley this morning .
Plans for the day , will have a frying pan fry up for a change to my routine , usually cereal but a change is just as good .
I have started to use stock of food ,and some pre made up meals from the freezer ,as though this lockdown made me create some meals .
The usual Chinese which I normally have , will be down to the weather today , as staying in the warm is more inviting .
Take Care ,
Mick

Good morning Mick, Annie, and all. Frosty and still outside, and probably very cold, but I haven't poked my nose out to see.

Woke early, around 5 am, with weird discomfort all over, and a muzzy head, but after going to the loo, I did go back to sleep, and had the strangest dream. I was back at work?

Nothing planned, again, for today, so will just wing it and see what happens. DH may want to go out, and we should try a short walk, while it is dry.

Loved the bluebird painting Sar53, Carys is a clever girl. I have a framed painting that one if our grandsons did, when he was about 3. You know the sort of thing, a 'butterfly' folded over . He is now a very large 29 year old, and it is still on the hall wall.

Marydoll, so sad to hear about your friend's granddaughter, let us hope and pray that she recovers.

I think I may delve into the freezer depths today and make some dishes that we can call on later. You know how it is, lots in there, but nothing to eat.

So, have a good day one and all.

Another WILTY fan here. I loved the shirt trick last night. grin

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
Its grey and still here in Suffolk this morning but there are snowflakes in the forecast for tonight.
I was wide awake for about 3 hours in the night so a sluggish start today. I have a door that needs one more coat of white paint ...
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

A late good morning Michael and all GNs. It’s a bright South Yorkshire day but the hard frost we had last night is taking it’s time to shift. Face time with DD last night as she opened her present from us and blew out the candles on her birthday cake (not fifty of them though!). Sad not to be able to be with her on her big birthday, but hopefully we’ll make up for it later in the year. Nothing much planned today - DH has just told me we are now to expect snow sometime this morning. That’s all we need. He will be watching football later anyway. Have a good day folks.

Yes, Pittcity, it was the shirt trick that made me laugh out loud! It was retried at the end of the credits, too. I’m glad there are a few other aficionados on here. “Would I Lie To You?” is on BBC 1 each Friday evening and daily on Dave. (three episodes today from 6.00pm)

Sara53: your DGD's painting is beautiful! You must be very proud of her!

Morning all, how I envy those who manage to see family, most of mine are miles away, those nearer are following the rules ?
It’s now more than six months since we were able to have a ‘face to face’, I know some of you have littlies still, mine are all grown up,but it’s still sad, makes me wonder how the extra months added on to us older posters will affect us eventually.
On that note enjoy what you can whilst you can.

Scentia Sat 23-Jan-21 11:04:05

Megs36. It would not be breaking any rules to meet up with one of your children for a brisk walk outside, even take one of your grandchildren out for a good walk to get some exercise. That is what a lot of people are doing to get some face to face contact and also it helps to keep you active. No loitering though or picnics?

Gwenisgreat1 Sat 23-Jan-21 11:04:29

Good Morning all from chilly but bright Harrogate. I find the best way to check a spam email is to reply, then click on who it is being sent to. It often bears no relation to the official sounding email. Good Luck with it.
Marydoll that sounds dreadful for your friends - I will pray for them.
Like so many others I had a lousy night last night, but must carry on! I have just experimented putting pork into my slow cooker - will add apple and white wine this pm! Will let you know tomorrow if it's a success!
Now with an excess of bananas I shall have to bake some banana bread - I use a Mary Berry recipe which is easy and good!
I seem to have spent most of last week on the phone, getting nowhere fast with Virginmedia. Probably try again this pm.
Hope everyone manages to keep chins up (and stay on their feet) today. Tomorrow will be better!

Gwenisgreat1 Sat 23-Jan-21 11:06:23

PS Sar Carys is a super artist. Lovely picture.

dragonfly46 Sat 23-Jan-21 11:12:38

Sainsbury's do a very nice Mandarin and Ginger Marmalade which is very tasty Urmston.

I too love the picture Sar. I still have the rainbows my DGD of 5 drew for me in the first lockdown up at my window.

Marydoll Sat 23-Jan-21 11:15:27

Gwenisgreat, we are also having dreadful problems this week with Virgin Media. Our broadband keeps cutting out or buffering.

Good morning all. I’m sat watching the snow falling thick and fast. So far today I’ve done my morning yoga, caught up on all my emails and tidied the pantry. I’m waiting for some storage boxes to be delivered, should be here around lunchtime so that will be this afternoon’s job. No matter how often I de-clutter we always seem to acquire more, but it will be nice to have it organised and out of sight.

Mr. B is making porridge the old fashioned way, it’s delicious. I cheat and use the microwave, my mother would be horrified ?

Good (only just) morning from Durham. My goodness - 3 glorious but cold days in a row - spoiling us!
Belly button day again for me, but going to lie in a hot bath with tea and a book and a walk later with DH if he feels up to it.
Stay safe everyone. X

EllanVannin Sat 23-Jan-21 12:05:53

Good Morning All x
Lightening, thunder, snow and hail at 7am, as good an alarm call as you can get grin
Then the fox yapping outside, which is why old Tom is missing this morning.

D phoned up to say she had a call from the medical centre yesterday to see if she could take me today for my jab today.
She's in between shifts from work so is able to for 3pm this afternoon.
GD has been tested for Covid as she's not well but so far we don't know the results. That'll put the cat among the pigeons as D won't be able to take me shopping. In fact I'm taking a chance seeing her today as it was only yesterday that she saw GD.

Just as well I'm having the jab now I suppose, although it takes a couple of weeks to kick-in.

The dog was sadly put down so obviously she didn't feel like talking which is understandable and she can't believe he's not there.

I purposely didn't watch the update yesterday as knowing that a pandemic doesn't " vanish" for a couple of years and no vaccine will be found because of the virus changeing each year, I didn't see the point in feeling any worse than I did yesterday.

What did brighten my day was Carys's picture of the bluebird. It's so beautiful and deserves framing, I would. I've actually seen a bluebird and they're gorgeous little things.
Speaking of birds, I heard the crows squawking last night which I thought was unusual late on. Quite a menagerie here.

Bed-changeing to do and a shepherds pie to get in the oven, so enough to keep me going .
Hope everyone's well and staying safe as well as keeping warm----(it's getting lighter in the evenings now) hooray.
Take care everyone. xx

Megs36 Sat 23-Jan-21 12:38:20

Thankyou Scentia, as I said most of mine are miles away so driving to a meet up is I believe not encouraged, and we are both pretty dodgy re ‘active’ although we walked to the end of the road yesterday.???

Urmstongran Sat 23-Jan-21 12:38:45

Excellent news you’re to get your first jab today EV.

I know what you mean about the news/pandemic. I’ve just had our covid warrior daughter on the phone. Teaching, no PPE to be worn in the classrooms, Early Years so sat doing maths up close to 3 little faces. She’s scared of getting the virus again with the new variant. Teachers won’t get their jabs till April she thinks. 2 colleagues off work so she’s having to take up some of the slack. I could tell she feels like crying.

We chatted for ages. Now she’ll be on her laptop all afternoon as has to lesson plan now for the extra class she’s covering for. She’s running on empty I can tell.

EllanVannin Sat 23-Jan-21 13:46:49

Urmston I feel for your daughter as I keep saying to mine, they shouldn't be in school. I'm not surprised she's scared of catching it again as her resistance won't be the same for a long time yet.
The teachers should have been second on the list after NHS staff to get their jabs, it's ridiculous. This home schooling a couple of times a week is getting D down too as she doesn't know half the stuff they're doing now to what she did at school-----so both yours and mine sound moth-eaten.

Yes, D will be here in just under an hour and thankfully it's not busy on a Saturday. I bet they'll be glad/ relieved to see me after all the phone-calls I've had. It's been difficult for D to fit the time in with one thing and another.

Hope your daughter can get or even enjoy some rest over the weekend. x

Jaxjacky Sat 23-Jan-21 13:56:56

Urmstongran my daughter works in a school, from next week they’re getting 2 self test kits, Sun/Wed. Not the same as the vaccine by any means, but better.
Good stuff EllenVannin ??

Kalu Sat 23-Jan-21 14:50:09

I have just read about your friend’s granddaughter Marydoll. I feel so sorry for this young couple, the arrival of their new baby should be such a happy occasion instead of this nightmare they are having to go through. I sincerely hope all turns out well for them and of course that poor girl who must be so frightened. I wish her a speedy recovery and a safe delivery. ?

Marydoll Sat 23-Jan-21 15:00:38

Thank you, Kalu. My friend was exhausted yesterday. She said she had cried all day. She had Covid at the beginning of the Pandemic and then a cancer op. I felt so awful for her.

Ziva Sat 23-Jan-21 15:15:49

Thank you all. All prayers appreciated. I can't stop thinking about that poor girl, alone in hospital. ?
