It is not alright to post things you know are likely to annoy people and then get upset yourself if those people argue back! Almost manipulation. Arguing is fine making personal remarks isn't. It adds nothing to the thread and it detracts from the discussion.
Why is it bullying to keep replying the same way to the same sort of posts but not bullying to keep posting similar things you know will upset people? Most posts are not usually directed at particular individuals, whereas replies frequently are. A general post cannot therefore be bullying anyone, but a reply can
Point taken, Gagajo To be fair, it was exasperation that drove my post but I have asked for it be withdrawn as this is meant to be a general discussion..
So, if it is deleted as against guidelines, no it isn't and I asked for it to be deleted myself.
However, I once requested that a post of mine be deleted some while ago and GNHQ refused! Apparently it would not have been good for the continuity of the thread.
Yes, and that is the whole point. So why, again, and some more, make comments about my other nationality and where I live currently- when you know very well, because I have told you many times- why what happens in the UK is totally relevant to me, and my family, and my future.
Thanks for making the point for me. and yes Callistemon, they are personal, very much so.
Actually I think the main thrust of the thread, almost unanimously,is that at least one well respected poster has been forced out permanently and that this is just plain wrong. I trust GNHQ will actually read and take note.
What is also an issue is that posters are bullied out by other posters.
If GNHQ banning people isn't allowed, neither should hounding members off the site.
If someone finds fault with the UK and justifies that with reasoned argument I don't think it matters where they live or come from I agree Trisher. The salient phrase being justified...with reasoned argument.
I was wondering how the mods are actually trained or if, indeed, they do receive any training apart from a written list of suggestions. It seems this is where the problems lie. I have been a mod on another site and I know it was very poor there and some of the mods were totally unreasonable but no one stopped them. In fact they were kind of encouraged and the more threads they pulled the more they were regarded as ‘successful’. Hate to think that is happening here. When you are on to a good thing, which this site is, leave it alone. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it !
It's ludicrous to think that you can only criticise if you live in a country. That's a fair point trisher and I agree completely. In reference to criticism of Trump, I think is fair to say that wasn't just GN posters though was it! The whole world was appalled by him! And much attention was paid, and valued, to the posts made by American Gnetters, for their inside knowledge and the view from their side of the pond. Similarly, positive posts and comments have been made when Biden gained office. Everyone is depressed enough without continually being told how rubbish we are, whether that's by a resident or not.

ixion to answer your last question I think it depends on which posts you post in - this one has been a baptism by fire for you I would think, but some posts are fun, and there are some lovely, kind and compassionate people on here. Don’t let this put you off.
every topic is the same -damning Britain and everything it stands for etc etc It's like Groundhog Day except we've been reading it for the past....... how many years? The only thing that changes is the posters user name.
