Very orange, skywards, first thing, I thought I'd left the lamp on in the bedroom---which isn't always unusual if I happen to drop off.

Not sure if the windows are misty looking inside or out after the mucky weather but I'll give them a wipe over, on the inside of course. Can't hoover---the cats are all asleep

I'll be speaking to brother at some point today as he turns 78, the start of all the Birthdays for the following year now and where I'll miss the second lot of Birthdays of the GGC where I feel that I'm not considered as being part of the family but that's another story and nothing to do with the family.
What a difference a year makes !

Not a lot on the agenda today with no shopping needed until tomorrow when all I'll need is a fresh loaf.
A mixed grill for today with plenty of tomatoes to fry to use up, always tasty.

You do so well Elizabeth and by summer you'll be going " further afield " on your travels. Keep up the good work.

We're nearly a full house here with vaccinations which is encouraging. Everyone will have been done before the end of the year, then we'll see what happens.

Hoping Mick is okay and of course thoughts are always with Gilly x

Gramaretto we had a couple of holidays in Kent with different friends a few years ago and I was surprised to find it was still so rural and pretty in parts.

I spoke to a couple of friends who'd been for their 'jabs' in the last week and both said they'd not felt better! They thought it might be because some of the anxiety about having it and possible after-effects had been lifted. I await mine with interest.
I used to have to spell my maiden name and now have to spell my married name too.
Should have married Mr Smith (although that could be Smyth).

Good Morning to you all from a rather misty Cambs.,

Pleased to hear that several of you are getting your first sh*ts.
I had mine on Tuesday, quite a queue but it moved quickly, & it went smoothly. We had a 24 mile round trip. I think they must have been doing ours alphabetically, as friends younger than me got theirs slightly earlier, (they are 71 & I'm almost 75).
I felt a bit tired & ached all over yesterday, but whether that was an after effect of the vaccine, or just another off day for me.!

Several of you are having appointments, I had a bit of a panic yesterday when I had a reminder from my dentists, for my check-up next Wednesday. It's a year since I went, (my August one was cancelled as they were only seeing urgent cases then). I know if I ask our son, he will say " do what you like/want". If I ask DD it will be "NO--Mum!".
I have no urgent problems but my teeth are nearly 75 years old!! What should I do?

Morning from S Lanarkshire, just home from a walk to collect meds and a small top up shop. Pavements still snowy and quite icy too but I felt my head would blow off if I didn’t get out and have some normality. It has worked and I feel a lot better than yesterday which was horrible!

Good Morning all from dismal Harrogate - will have to be quick 'cause WE ARE GOING OUT!! These outings are so full of excitement, it's quite pitiful. We're taking the gardening tools to be sharpened so they will be ready in a month or two to perfect the garden!!
Didnt see anyone out in our street, but think we might have been fractionally late!

Just had a Morrisons delivery - just wonder sometimes, what sort of people put these shops together. We have no port, and no choccies, so obviously a store the size of our Morrisons had no substitute chocolates! On the other hand we have had 2 packets of hot cross buns, just as well we like them.

Good morning everyone from a rather overcast North Wales where it is currently about 7 degrees. Enjoying my morning tea and then I will need to prepare for the arrival of my 4 year old grandson. I help out with childcare when necessary and thoroughly enjoy getting back into teaching mode. This week his nursery teacher has planned some actvities to help their mental health giving him and his parents a chance to relax. So today we will be making some red velvet cakes or blood cakes as he calls them, we will then crack out the jigsaws, followed by a movie afternoon with snacks.
Grammaretto, good to see that someone else on here has a knitting wool stash. I must admit to having an addiction to buying wool and have a rather large secret stash ?? My daughter in Ireland is struggling to buy wool online because of Brexit but I have found a company via another social media site based in Wexford in Ireland so she has been able to replenish her stash.
Sparklefizz, I see now when you talk about your previous surname why you were able to envisage the small Greek village where we have our other home.
Well, I must get up and get going now, sending the warmest of wishes to all posters and hope that all of you find some joy and comfort today.

Good late morning from my corner of Cumbria where the weather is starting to look brighter after a night of heavy rain. I quite like lying snug in bed listening to rain lashing against the windows when I know I can lie in as long as I like in the morning. Hopefully we will have a dry walk with Bobby dog today. Surprisingly he enjoyed his wet walk yesterday and skipped along the flooded lanes, can't say I did the same but enjoyed the fresh air.

Exercised yesterday to Tamla Mowtown, might give the Beatles a whirl today. My blood pressure is too high and I’m monitoring it morning and night. High blood pressure is on my father’s side, who exploded in his late sixties, I’m surprised he lasted that long...(what a temper?)
Watched The Dig last night and loved it, great photography too. Strange to see Ralph Fiennes as a middle aged unattractive man, but those piercing blue eyes are still there. There has to be an American’star’ of course, but Carey Mulligan’s English accent couldn’t be faulted.

A beautiful early spring like day in Norwich today. I was enticed to put washing on the line and it’s blowing happily against a bright blue and cloudless sky! Certainly cheers me up! Light at 7.00am also., but not getting complacent though. Sainsburys shop for us and mum done! Well behaved customers!
I had COVID vaccination on Tuesday and had very strange reaction. Strange flu like symptoms, just couldn’t get warm, shaking and hands and feet freezing cold. Put myself on sofa and covered with nice fluffy blanket, dressing gown and hotty bottle, 2 paracetamol taken and slept for 2 hours! Woke up with mouth like old sock, had a coffee and magic......felt fine!
Back to normal now, thank goodness!
Outside now to put second load on washing line!! Making the most of sunshine.????????

hollysteers Hawthorn capsules are excellent for bringing down blood pressure without having to resort to drugs. I buy the Solgar brand from Amazon, and have brought my BP down very quickly to within the normal range.

gillgran Re your query regarding dental appointments - I had to have an emergency dental appointment last September which I was very anxious about re Covid, but in terrible pain.

My dental surgery was like an operating theatre- extremely Covid-secure and I felt very safe. In the end I had to go there 4 times, and finally have surgery to remove my wisdom teeth - all done with the utmost care re Covid.

I think you will be fine to go for a check up.

Sparkle I have a bog standard English surname, shared with a fairly famous actor. You’d be surprised how many variation of pronunciation and spellings we are inflicted with! First name is French, so I expect that.

grandMattie When I used to have to spell out my Greek surname, I would get people arguing with me over the spelling of my own name, and querying it. At times it was very annoying One person even said to me "Well, you don't look Greek".

This was pre-Covid; I dialled 999 by mistake when I was cleaning the phone, sat down to lunch with DH and there was a very loud banging on the door. DH answered the door and the policeman demanded to know if anyone else was in the house, when DH said 'my wife' the policeman asked to see me and wouldn't go until I had assured him I was fine.
