Gets really 'good' at about 4 minutes.

WHY did they publish it?!

have just read and listened to this in dm.

Why publish it? Why not?. Any one present could have published this. Bad behavior by the few. they didn't realise they could be 'switched off'. all over twitter aswell.

Is that for real ? What a boring bunch of tw$ts.

Smileless2012 Fri 05-Feb-21 11:33:46

It's very funny isn't it. We sent it to our vicar so she knows our PCC could be a lot worsegrin.

EllanVannin Fri 05-Feb-21 11:34:28

Hahahahaha, 18 minutes and they haven't really said anything.
It was so funny but at the same time, scary when you think of fools like this running councils.

Calendargirl Fri 05-Feb-21 11:36:02

Who was the chairman?

Who was the clerk?

What was Jackie Weaver’s role?

It came across as two separate ‘gangs’.

Bit like Gransnet really!

(Joke).

Unfortunately I have attended meetings with this level of productivity. Arguments about mask wearing, ventilation etc. Covid deniers railing against regulations.

crazyH Fri 05-Feb-21 11:37:49

Loved it ????

Galaxy Fri 05-Feb-21 11:39:56

Its brilliant. The clerk was on Womans Hour today but I havent listened to it yet. I think anyone who has ever been on any committee will recognise elements of it.

here is the article explaining all

If you watch to the end Gagajo you'll see why.

Pretty shocking. I didn't find it hilarious as these are the sorts of people we (sometimes) allow to handle parish business. I used to live in a parish completely run by one family.
Grim

NotSpaghetti Fri 05-Feb-21 11:57:26

Oh really!

Luckygirl Fri 05-Feb-21 12:05:18

I am not sure why people find this funny - it is simply pitiful.

GagaJo Fri 05-Feb-21 12:11:07

Ah ok NotSpagetti. I'll watch the end.

JaneJudge Fri 05-Feb-21 12:13:40

It really made me laugh. I was actually considering putting myself forward for our parish council as we are two councillors short but watching that meeting made me realise why I am hesitant...Jackie though, Jackie is sick of men's shit

Luckygirl Fri 05-Feb-21 12:21:13

I seem to have a serious sense of humour failure here! Will someone please tell me what is funny about it?!!! smile

I agree notspaghetti.
Jackie Weaver is actually Chair of the Cheshire Association of Local Councils and was parachuted in to take some semblance of control, which she did.
More here for anyone who’s interested in the legality of the whole thing.

Rufus2 Fri 05-Feb-21 12:26:57

Absolutely hilarious! grin
Why oh why can't we have Zoom meetings of some of GN threads? They even had members "removed" for unknown reasons!.
My imagination was working overtime assigning certain GN members to the caricatures, a bit like what we used to do with the Goon Show! hmm
Please put me on the mailing list for the next Council meeting. grin grin

I think it's funny because its behaviours that lots of us recognise. It is also very serious as some of those people should obviously be no where near decision making. I think it's useful that it has come to public attention as the backstory shows the difficulties that individuals can cause to democracy and the functioning of services etc.

AmberSpyglass Fri 05-Feb-21 12:56:30

Jackie Weaver absolutely has the authority!

eazybee Fri 05-Feb-21 12:56:55

So very easy to sneer.
Do any of you volunteer to serve, because that's what it is ?
Unpaid and unacknowledged and certainly unappreciated.

You may consider them fools, but are you prepared to volunteer and take their place?
Of course not.

Jaxjacky Fri 05-Feb-21 12:58:50

I worked for a PC until a 14 months ago, a mix of this and the Vicar of Dibley, depressing, I left as Covid rules were being ignored and allegedly still are.

grannyactivist Fri 05-Feb-21 13:00:11

These people are actually in positions to spend public money, so how they conduct themselves in council meetings really does matter. Jackie Weaver was brought in to troubleshoot a difficult situation because Parish Councils have legal obligations and it seems there were some issues around the way business was conducted that really did need her help to sort out.

MissAdventure Fri 05-Feb-21 13:00:54

Having a giggle is different to sneering, I think. (And it's allowed)

grannyactivist Fri 05-Feb-21 13:01:11

I should have said the 18 minute YouTube video consists of edited ‘highlights’.
